As a disabled veteran, I’d find it useful to have the future Spot for certain tasks and object manipulation. It would enable a certain amount of independence and peace of mind for my spouse care-giver and children. Let’s see where BD can take this developing technology. Very cool
12:45 Spot should be making sure the door has properly latched behind it. This is necessary for both fire safety and physical security. Ideally, maintenance would ensure that every door would close and latch correctly on its own every time, but we all know that tasks like that tend to fall to the bottom of the priority list when humans just adapt their behaviour to work around the problem.
Should be simple to add "confirm door closed" as the first automated task after passing through. By the time it's out of beta this will probably be a default feature of door passing tasks.
Anybody else think “Raptors” when they saw Spot open the door for itself? Seriously, awesome work guys. As a retired HVAC guy, I love the idea of spot listening for abnormalities in mechanical rooms.

That would be game changing for us, and save a lot of people many an unhappy drive on site in the middle of the night to sort out issues.

Gauges have to be read with the eye or camera on an axis which is perpendicular to the dial face and passing through the needle pivot point, otherwise parallax leads to misreading of values. The camera height needs to be able to raise to the level of the gauge, which is generally installed at human height and mounted vertically. Alternatively, all the gauges could be tilted down, but then technicians would find them hard to read. Probably easier to make Spot’s camera much more height adjustable.
The UP / RIGHT / etc arrows should move an on-screen cursor: I can't tell from the video @6:20 if there is one. As a non direct consumer I find it fascinating and simultaneously troubling that this machine is so capable. My mind is wondering how large a facility must be to make this cost effective or also what conditions warrant a robot for these tasks versus a human. We’ve seen so many repetitive mundane tasks replaced by automation but now the more complicated tasks are able to be performed by a walking computer. I’d like to see development of machines to take the place of construction workers in high risk areas. Places where worker death rates are high. The downside of technology is job displacement. Can we train people to be productive members of society while maintaining this upward trend in automation?
When I saw Atlas dancing to "Do you love me" and doing parkour I just knew BD had just changed the world. Then ChatGPT came out ,what if Atlas and Spot had access to the same training data? I am giddy with excitement .......
It's only a matter of time, soon we'll have androids in every home to delegate all the 0 added value daily activities, with which we'll communicate with natural language. If we don't screw up with AGIs and wipe us out, truly revolutionary and exciting times expect us.
So now it's possible to work in a factory and have some little robot dog happily beeping away, opening doors and doing its thing by reading the gauges. It must really feel like the future to work next to one of these.

Cool and all but I just want Spot as a guard dog. Make it happen! Maybe 1/10 of the price just for a way simpler home solution.
Maybe one day NASA will have these guys go along on a moon/mars mission 😍
Elon will do it first.
I heard Elon is working on a cat 🐈 robot called fluffy , first cat on Mars 🚀
When are these are going to be available as companions to carry your shopping?
When I saw Atlas dancing to "Do you love me" and doing parkour I just knew BD had just changed the world. Then ChatGPT came out ,what if Atlas and Spot had access to the same training data?
I am giddy with excitement .......
Hahaha
It's only a matter of time, soon we'll have androids in every home to delegate all the 0 added value daily activities, with which we'll communicate with natural language. If we don't screw up with AGIs and wipe us out, truly revolutionary and exciting times expect us.
That door opening scene was awesome!!!
New features start at 3:12.
Seeing Spot open the door:
“Clever girl”
"Have a safe and productive day, mr. Gordon Freeman"😅
Glad to see BD has a product they can keep the company afloat on. Love the advancements.
So now it's possible to work in a factory and have some little robot dog happily beeping away, opening doors and doing its thing by reading the gauges. It must really feel like the future to work next to one of these.
Appreciated čvut Praha footages
These robots are progressing so much, a bit robotic when they gesticulate, but they almost talk like humans, specially the woman.
I'd like to gesticulate with Sophia the Robot 😍❤️
Please work on getting spot to work as a farmer, cheaper food would be great when no one has work because of boston dynamics and openai.
