According to USDA statistics by the end of 2021, there are about 813 million poultry in the United States. In which, chicken is the largest species with about 64%.

If this were true - if the poultry were out in that grass 24 / 7, there would be _no_ grass, just barren dirt. The chooks would scratch it all up and / or eat it all.
it is important to note that there are ways to manage poultry grazing to minimize damage to the grass and soil. This includes rotating the birds to new areas frequently, providing supplemental feed and water, and limiting the number of birds per area to ensure that the grass can recover.
