One tough man, taking about another tough man, I lost my voice about 3 weeks ago and when it started coming back, I sounded just like Don, Frye is a true legend!
Warrior! Wanderlei and Don both have that kill or be killed attitude. Sport needs more like them today. Don would be great in a western, could picture him in Tombstone!
I could see Wandy in that Western too. He goes into the saloon and sees that no-good Chael P. Sonnen at the poker table. Wandy walks up to him and says "WANNA NOW, WANNA NOW?" and gets ready to draw his Colt revolver.
Don in his prime was one of my all time favorites. Wanderlei in his prime i think was the most genuinely scary dude ever. sadly his prime wasnt a very long period of time because he took so much damage and abuse, but Christ he was a beast and intimidating as all hell. but everything i have ever seen of him outside of the ring he seems as nice as can be. loved both of these guys.
Yeah I met Wanderlei years ago at a meet and sign. He signed my poster and did a stare down with me and anyone else that wanted one. Huge wrists on him.
Wanderlei’s prime was almost 6 years where he went 18-2-1-1. With his only losses being a HW Mark Hunt which was a super close fight, and a prime Ricardo Arona who he beat in the immediate rematch.
@@Xterm1124 Right!? I think too many people remember the end of his career in UFC where he was back and forth with losses. Dude spent a decade just murdering people in multiple organizations, and his title reign was legendary.
Wandy rarely gets mentioned among the greatest ever because of the PEDs, but that guy was the greatest MW (200lbs) Champ in Pride. He was the epitome of a fearless wrecking machine with victories over Rampage, Sakuraba, Tamura, Hendo, Mezger, Arona, Arsdale, Kondo, and Yoshida. He put his body through so many wars for the entertainment of MMA fans. He was one of the true flag-bearers of Pride willing to fight anyone (ala Mark Hunt and Cro Cop).

He is one of the original badasses. If it wasn't for his impressive career, i wonder if as many of the ASU wrestlers would have made the conversion to mma. Yeah, i know they still had Aaron Sims (who is very much a tough dude), but ASU is now a honey hole for future mma talent. Gotta love it!

I pulled a security detail as overtime at an MMA event at our tribal casino. Wanderlei Silva was the celebrity at ringside as an added attraction to fill seats. He was every bit as nice and gentlemanly as Frye said. We were to stick close in case a drunk tried to fight him. he was only supposed to stay out til 10pm per contract but he stayed until midnight signing autographs and posing for photos and was kind and polite the entire time. Much respect from this old cop.

Good old Don Frye. What a Legend. Great guy and best friend of The Beast Dan Severn. The Axe Murderer is a Legend of course too. The coolest fighter nickname in all of history too. They don't make fighters like they used to that's for sure.
It's crazy that Don Frye is an actual living human being. He is what action movie heroes want to be.
