Nude and Reckoner both bring a tear to my eye because they're both beautiful, not because they're sad. In Rainbows was the album I listened to a lot when my wife died suddenly at 48, so I owe a debt of gratitude to Radiohead. The album made me able to grieve normally and snapped me out of shock.
oh man your reaction to paranoid android made me so happy. like, utter disbelief, "how is this so perfect"? and after 25 years of being a fan of this album, it's still as amazing to me how they pulled this off.
glad you enjoyed this, one of my all time favourite albums. just based on your reaction to this, i think you’d really enjoy their album “the bends” if you do decide to delve into more of their discography soon i’ll also throw out recommendations for car seat headrest’s “twin fantasy” (2018) and sufjan steven’s “Illinois” (2005), just based on some of the stuff you’ve reacted to previously and enjoyed! keep it up!
@@NoelNeedsNoise totally fair! in that case, if you haven’t, i’d definitely recommend checking out the rest of csh’s discography! (i’ll specifically shout out “how to leave town”)
The b-sides/non-album tracks from this time period are fantastic. Start with Talk Show Host, Pearly, Polyethylene, Man Of War, Lift, Palo Alto, and Lull. I'm sure I left a couple off the list because there's so many.
My two favorite albums by Radiohead are The Bends and OK Computer. The latter is not only the best album of the 90's, one of the best concept albums ever made, but overall one of the greatest albums in history, imo. As cheesy as this may sound- my only wish would be to be able to go back in time to hear it again for the first time. To explain how much Let Down means to me- I'm pretty sure it would be my pick for the final song to ever listen to before departing.
This is why Radio head fans should know to request first time listeners start with Parinoid android itis 3 and a half songs put into one and as ever changing as the band .....my first and favorite Radio head album although I absolutely love all their stuff😢❤😊
If you loved the somber quality of this album, you're gonna love The Bends. That album is my crying album. That shi stings when it stings and it stings hard. For me there's no better album to cry on than The Bends. I might add, it also slaps hard.
Climbing Up The Walls transitioning into No Surprises is my favorite part of the album. I love how both songs are so dark but the sound of the two songs couldn't be more different.
Yeah, The Bends and OK Computer will always be peak Radiohead for me. I LOVE the beeps and boops of the later catalogue as much as the next guy, but what can I say...I'm a 90s kid for chrissakes.
The Bends is a fantastic record as well and some people (not me) actually prefer the Bends and OK Computer to their later stuff. I like all their albums outside their first one and even that wasn't a bad album at all, it just suffered in comparison to their other work. I think you'll be surprised by how good the Bends is and how great Radiohead would have been as a more conventional type of rock band.
The family guy thing has a magickal realism feel. It's a kinda surrealism but showcases how trauma changes memory; Frida Kahlo, René Magrítte and Størm Thorgerson all worked in the genre
Its a bit of a shame you didn't do their discography in release order, Give OKC a couple of more listens then go on to Kid A again, it will make more sense and will 'click'. OK Computer is about the fear of a tech reliant, ruined, society, Kid A is about that fear becoming true and living in it.

I can’t get over how beautiful this man is
Thanks
This album just gets better every listen. And I’ve been listening to it for almost 30 years.
In my opinion In Rainbows is Radiohead perfecting their use of electronic and organic instruments together.
AMSP is pretty dope as well in that aspect

“A reminder” is another great b-side… it’s like sonic opium

I'd include Fitter Happier into Electioneering into Climbing up the Walls and No Surprises as well. Perfect.

Do In the Court of the Crimson King by Crimson King next 😊
Animals Pink Floyd
