The best companies do a background check, moving violations check, and a credit check. Whenever a church does not do those thing it make the candidate feel like they are not looking for someone of character but someone to fill a spot. I knew what it was like to be in management in a company and was surprised that churches did so little. I knew what we did to hire someone and it never took all that long because we took a course of action. What businessmen in a church would take so long in a business.
At this point, I can confidently say that any newly ordained pastor should just give up and get a tattoo, facelift, ozympic and a club membership. Otherwise, they are just too old to be relevant or too inexperienced to be considered given the search committee expectations.
