      I've seen saffron sold in spice bottles at around $12 CAN, which is understandable given the crocus' limited growth time in early spring. It's truly a rare seasoning!

      There's legit saffron in the stores too. But you're talking $10-25 for just a few threads in a glass jar, usually 1-3 grams. Costco sells 14 grams for $80, which comes out to $5,714 a kilogram.

    A really cool trick I learned from my Persian friends is, after you make the rice (without saffron) you take 1/4 of the rice and add saffron to it. Then you mix it in with the remainder of the plain rice. It makes the presentation beautiful. The plain rice is flecked with beautiful golden rice. It tastes, smells and looks delicious. Always cook up Saffron with water. Fats play against bringing out the richest colors.

      jr4chargers it's a very distinctive taste, in milk I boil it briefly but put a few strands in whilst it is cold, then stir it gently the colour and flavour spreads definitely a 👍 up.
      Try it then if you need to put sugar in use brown sugar unrefined and avoid white as it is heavily processed.

      Inherent Emperor lol exaggeration much? You do know they are over 1.3 billion people (1/6 of the entire human population) right?! mughals are only a small part of the history. Contrary to popular belief There's a lot more to India than northies and Bollywood.

    • @Celevie
      @Celevie 6 лет назад

      Sriram Baskey isnt the population 1.3 billion in india lool. Accept ur defeat stop moaning as a victim. Muslims ruled for nearly thousand years. Indian subcontinent was ruled by one power ever in indian history and that was mughals. Brits enslaved u , mughals were a part of india .

      Inherent Emperor lol Again with the exaggeration! 1526 to 1858 that's a little more than 330 years. About a 1/3 of that buzzword you keep spouting lol. Put down that PEB Textbook bibi! Read an actual modern history book not distorted by a madrassa educated fellow. Cry for your education will you! Oh and "My people" were something called headhunters, we've never been conquered by Force! not by foreign invaders or mainlanders.

      Same as taking corn or pumpkins from a farmer. but i think saffron crocus only come with 2 strands per flower so maybe a little more messed up. However if you asked and showed an interest he'd probably give you the one. That's just because hes a hardworking individual not a thief.

      I imagine the farmers make enough for the year for that one week of work, but that years worth of income is probably less than a dollar a day or something. We in the West take a lot of this type of luxury for granted

    • @AmmarGreepaly
      @AmmarGreepaly 7 лет назад +2

      The farmers don't just work for 1 week. These farms usually grow other crops besides saffron. The farmers don't own the farms, they don't have any shares, they get a monthly salary.
