caught a decent sized bass recently on a savage surf seeker, wasn't getting much action in the day but at dusk the waters came alive. A must have for me now.
Your videos are always so helpful. New lures and rod all delivered all of your recommendations over several videos, apart from the ones I cannot find. All barbs crushed and off to Portland bill for 3 days holiday so will be looking several areas around to try to tighten a line. Preferably not in a snag 😂
I'm still using my 1970s ABU lures obviously re-Hooked and touched up, they still regularly catch all manner of fresh and salt water predators. Especially the 'ABU Killer' the best surface lure for the money I've ever found.
Oh yes thanks for your comments, very interesting. I Think there are some beautys out there over the years. That's a touch of class refresh g lures by re- painting as well, a lost art as well. Keep it it up and tight lines Sir.
I still ise the original Abu Toby (Metal spoon) in 28g and 40g, and it still catches all kinds of fish, It's my go to lure when nothing else works, very consistent!
@@Hatim.13 Hi Hitman Abu Toby is a classic 😊 I still have three 40g that I got for a Christmas present when I was about 16 the all silver with orange fins (very Roach like) the black with gold stripes and a bronze one I customed with small spots to hopefully look like a trout. All have caught decent pike and Bass over the 40 + years I've had them.
My go to when things are getting tuff is the old Dexter wedge at 20 grams I think it is. It's tiny casts like a missile and I've had quite a few on it now. I'll give some of these you have there though, I like the look of the last two but the others I wasn't that taken by. Look forward to seeing how you get on with them.
Had a great session bass fishing recently from kayak using a VERY old storm thunderstick shallow diving plug, having confidence in your lure is all😎 I very rarely spend more than a fiver on lures but looking at my lurebox maybe ive got it wrong? A lot rarely get used and i find myself going back to the few lures ive had success on. Keep up the thoughtful content. 👍
Great video, I'm yet to start lure fishing but getting gear sorted for the summer.. the price of lures are very expensive.. would love to see a comparison video of cheaper lures that work just as well as I think I'd cry if I snagged a 20quid lure 😂
HG said the one lure he would have if limited to one would be the ima Hound glide, casts really well and I do use it, but so far I have not tempted any Bass with it, The lure I have caught more Bass on than any other has been the Redgill Evos and the Redgill V8 in pearl white, 100mm and 150mm sizes, both very effective.
Yep very mark specific though, Mr Gilbey s Irish or Cornish venues are very different to here - i suppose we would have to fish the lures equally in the same place at the same time to know what’s best ! Also what are the bass doing is the most important thing and I’ll be digging in to that in our next video
@@SaltwaterAngler Indeed, the North Cornish coast is a very different beast compared to some of your marks, I only fish in the surf so you have to adapt ( try throwing a 16g lure into a NW wind) I personally use metals 95% of the time, the savage gear seekers & kilty catcher are my go to metals but I have a variety of others, had a couple of schoolies today on a seeker so they are still around, great vids, get your self down here & see how it compares, cheers.
Thanks Karl im never too worried about casting distance as most of these bass are caught close in locally.Ive always got a sidewinder and love black and green =confidence !
Thank you for your advice fella. I've dabbled with this type of fishing but caught mackerel and wrass lol, kinda gave it up and stuck to the big rods and bait. Now I'm just taking my time researching and being a bit more methodical (Also I stopped fishing for a few years) I've just got a couple of things to buy and I will out and about having a scout :) ,
Great video, thanks for the advice. I’ve done lots of lrf over the last decade and am now moving up to big boy lures as wanna catch a bass :) I bought the zonk and a frosty ii instead of a pachinko as bought the wrong one lol!
great video for me as i am a newbie on lures, would you recommend trying cheaper lures until i get used to them or go straight on with some of the ones you are recommending. 'Thanks.
If your looking for cheaper lures try AXIA brand. There are lures very simular to the Patchinko and zonk in their range and most of them are under £10. All important is where the lure is in the water table and how your retrieving (or even not retrieving) Its worth studying how bait fish behave if you can. So in Answer to your question by all means try a cheaper lure, for me these in the video and this one ruclips.net/video/Tj6mPX9hjn4/видео.html give me confidence, last longer cast sharper and i can guarantee they catch fish. The only problem is they cost £££
I would get the Maria Chase in cotton candy and the Tackle House Feed Shallow in pink rainbow. They have caught so many Bass for me. I also recommend the OSP Bent Minnow in Hasu too
@@Chrislegras I have looked around and sorry they do not make it any more. It is a shame as it was a great lure. Angel Kiss is a good lure. Patchinko II is a very good lure that my clients do well with. I would recommend a lure dancer to work that lure for long periods.
Good lures especially the patchinko and the white soft lure best choice of hook with the twist lock Unfortunately the colours of the patchinko are not the best especially the blue one in my opinion the sea bass like see through belly and the way you twitch should be short and fast instead of big and slow the see bad has the predator instinct and in the summer you need to twitch fast

Excellent for deep drop offs there are different versions but it casts really well - the best of my lures and doesn’t need too much tip action to get it looking realistic - just let it drift and mend the line or straight retrieve

Dexter wedge over clear Welsh waters but here on the south coast no I rarely use them

Great advice 👍
Hi, does the line need to be weighted with a lure? Thanks
No, a lovely simple way of fishing , even the do live doesn’t need a weight
Saltwater Angler How far it will cast ? What kind of line are you using ?
I’m doing a video in July to show this
Saltwater Angler very nice
Any lures that work in murky water for bass
J13 has done well in the past and shads - all dependent on many factors. Be confident in whatever you use though it goes a long way
Lures 'catch' more anglers than fish ........
Ai, finding the fish is the most important objective , many blank simply because the fish are not there , all lures work
brilliant
Would you go for 8ft6 or 9 ft lure rod?
I don’t think that matters too much but 9ft
do you lose many 20 quid lures?
Not really no , maybe a lure every 2 or 3 trips so about the same as bait
No feed shallow 128!!! Im shocked
Agree
very true, one of the best
