Hey Crescent, New seller here. Would you be able to make a video on what needs to be covered in a discussion between a merchant and a seller (Alibaba seller) from A to B so that everything goes smoothly? This is my first time and I don’t want anything to go wrong. You are my preferred youtuber for FBA info! Thanks
Thanks as always Crescent. Do you have any personal recommendations other than Amazon's options? Also if you have a product people could use for sport and potentially get injured, outside of insurance and adding a warning on the product label and/or insert, is there any other things to be aware of? Cheers and keep up the great work!
You're welcome. Sorry, I don't have any recommendations, you'll have to do your own research. As for warnings, see what your competitors are doing and/or consult a lawyer.
@@CrescentKao Hi Crescent, quick update for you and others. It seems Amazon has already nixed those 3 recommended options/links and only has one from Marsh available now. I started the process, but it requires a storefront. At this stage I'm trying to get insurance quotes to assess if the product I"m interested in is viable. I tried contacting them directly, but it can take a week which is frustrating. If you have any thoughts/advice please let me know and hope it's easier for others. Cheers, Chris
Great informational video, it’s a mini mystery how this content doesn’t have more views and likes! Got a Q: I have followed the links to amazons suggested insurance companies and they only quote for general liability insurance, is the product insurance an extra step required by amazon and would this need to be added or every additional product we sell? Thanks 🙏🏾
Thanks for your input and feedback, I'm glad you found value in the video. General liability isn't the same as product liability. If you think your products can cause any sort of harm or injury beyond what general liability would cover, I would consult a professional.
I don’t want to be limited to any type of product while starting what insurance would be okay with covering anything and everything? Or do you see me needing to get several insurance plans?
Great video! I've been curious about creating an LLC but purely to protect my personal assets. Would purchasing product liability insurance protect my personal assets? That does seem to be the much easier route than creating an LLC. Thanks!
I'm glad you found it helpful! Registered a business separates your liability. Insurance is so you are covered financially just like car insurance. Your insurance covers any repairs or lawsuits if your car is damaged.
Hi Crescent. The insurance companies on Amazon only provide service to US based sellers. I am currently residing in Vancouver. It hard to find an insurance company that covers this. I contacted Westland insurance and they referred me to Zen Insurance. Still Waiting for their quote..
Hi Crescent, thank you for this valuable video. I am a French based seller selling in the US market and the insurance companies on Amazon only provide services to US based sellers. It is very difficult to find an insurance company for non-US sellers..
@@Maria-me7jt Hi, Can you please give us update did you find your local insurance? Or did you buy US address and EIN number? Please give us some info we are also NON US seller and have the same problem? Thanks for any info :)
Hey Crescent, Are you saying that insurance is required or advised regardless of the product ? I understand food or cosmetics and creams, but what about a simple item such as a backpack ? Thanks !
Hello. Like I stated in the video, Amazon requires all sellers to have insurance once you've reached $10k in sales: sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/200386300?captcha_verified=1&

@@CrescentKao Currently I have 2 wholesale accounts and I will be starting an Amazon wholesale account and eventually getting into private label. Those are my goals.
@@jmackc100 I'm not a tax professional or an insurance agent. You should speak to a tax professional in your state to see which business type suits your needs best. They should also be able to recommend what type of insurance cover you need. In my opinion, an LLC is the best choice as it separates your personal assets and liability from your business whereas an SP does not.
Hello! Whether or not you have a brand doesn't matter. The video went over the things you should consider if you want to or should get insurance coverage.
Hi Crescent - I am new to amazon FBA and considering starting to sell my first white label product. It's a completely risk free and harmless product but have never worked with any b2b supplier before. The ones I am looking at appear to be reputable based on Alibaba and jungle scout data, but I am wondering in this scenario if you would still recommend getting insurance and/or an LLC. on one hand, i dont know suppliers i can trust but its also a harmless product. thanks
Hello! Congrats on starting your Amazon journey! Insurance and an LLC are meant to protect yourself, your assets and your business. Choosing who to work with depends on trusting your own gut, doing your due diligence and getting references. Beyond that, protect your money and have contracts in place. What happens if I cancel my amazon insurance? Will the insurance agency notify amazon? Will my account be suspended? Does amazon annual verification to make sure people renew or still have valid insurance? Anyone with experience in this?
I don't know where you're buying your insurance from but typical liability insurance is less than $100/mo... less than $50/mo if your business is small.
Question. If I am not in the US... How are they sending the documents? By mail or e-mail? If by mail... How do I get it if they send it to my US address...Cause of course I am not there.

What to choose general liability or product liability,or one insurance covers both?

I'm not an insurance expert. You should consult a CPA or professional insurance agent about your situation.
What about wholesalers? Do they need product insurance?
Is the insurance required for a sole proprietor (individual) account?
If you meet the minimum requirements, you need to have insurance regardless of your business structure.

Choosing SP vs LLC depends on your business type and business goals, not insurance. Buy insurance for the purpose of insuring your assets.
