Like with all generations, each one often sticks to popular things from their own adolescence and young adulthood. Although Eric probably would try to read at least one of those comics just to see what his kid is into and make sure it's not voodoo or something.
I understand that this is a long awaited spin off, from That ‘70s Show. And I can easily tell that this show itself is a lot of fun, with all the comedy and the craziness that this show has, especially after the original show of That ‘70s Show ended over 10 years ago, from when it ended back in 2006. But even if they are just acting, you also can’t deny that, when Eric and Donna were both talking to their daughter Leia, after she came back from going with her friends to the water tower, it kind of makes you think that they were being hypocrites, since they spent a lot of time on the water tower from That ‘70s Show, and always falling off, going to the ground far below, and well, since she told them that she was with her friends at the water tower, it’s always like, don’t be hypocrites and talk to her, about not doing what you guys did back in the day with your friends, especially if she is trying to do what she can, to spend all of her time with her friends to make memories that will last, and if her parents want what is best for her, then they should know when it’s time to let go, and let her explore, like open up her wings, and at least, let her have her fun, and then come home, once the end of the day rolls around, because she wants to make as many memories as she possibly she can with her friends, because for an example, what is going to happen if her friends are going to move away to go to college or something like that, especially within the next few years or so, after high school graduation? And if I was Eric, I will patiently wait until it’s time to talk to Donna alone, and tell her what I think that Leia is going through, and I would have a serious moment and have a serious talk with Donna, reminding her that is what almost happened to me and her, when she and I were both Leia’s age, or even, when we were both about to go to college. So, that is mainly and mostly why I think that we shouldn’t, try to be so controlling of what Leia will say or do next, and from there, I know that I would do what I can to figure out, when it is time for me to be a serious and controlling father, as well as figure out when it is time to be strict, because I honestly wouldn’t want to put too much pressure on Leia, and be too much of a controlling father. So, that is why I think I should talk to Donna, and figure out what we can do about that, if I was Eric. But that is just me. I know that his actor could not join the project due to legal issues, but I think not mentioning him did good for his character because I can imagine the best for the character. I wish they did the same with Jackie, Fez, and Kelso because making Jackie cheat on Fez with her ex and showing that their relationship is just as unstable as it used to be had assassinated these characters for the sake of some cameos that this show did not need. Notes about the young characters: The fat kid and his girlfriend were not necessary and could be erased for the sake of budget and space.
