@Thaís Garcia Padilha not trying to start a fight pls don't hit me but the term "idol rapper" isn't even offensive or degrading though. it's basically just idols who are assigned to "rap", they're not real rappers who actually built their career out of original lyricism and rap flows. idol rappers are TAUGHT to mimic rap according to demo (someone else's rap), real rappers don't do that. they develop their own styles + build their tone and flow from scratch. example of idol rappers are irene from rv and a lot of other gg rappers apart from moonbyul as far as i know. jooheon and changbin introduced themselves as idol rappers because they're already in a kpop group but they're technically more than that. they're idol rappers AND also real rappers as they also have individual projects to showcase their real rap apart from just singing verses for their group songs.
actually "idol rappers" is just a label made up to criticize them and not because they're actually bad rappers... most of the time they're as good as what you'd call "normal" rappers. but thank you for appreciating Changbin!!! guys, Changbin stated here that he wants to be acknowledged as a rapper, but he is not ashamed of being an idol. Usually idols come here to break their idol image, but Changbin wants people to understand that he didn't come here to that. Because Changbin is proud of being an idol. He wanted to perform, so he became an idol. He won't let anyone discredit him or his team because he loves being in Stray Kids and he loves to rap. And i think thats very noble of him to think. He doesn't need to be ashamed of being an idol because it was the fact that he became an idol that he really got experience and became a good rapper. So whether you call him SpearB or Changbin, it doesn't matter. He's not ashamed of either identity. They're both him and everyone should respect that and they should respect that he isn't ashamed to be called an idol, even if people try to tear him down for being an idol. I have HUGE respect towards Changbin and he really made me think that yeah, there are idols who can rap really good. Whether you're underground or an idol, it doesn't matter. The only thing that does matter is how well you rap on the stage.

I agree to what you said about Changbin but saying that idol rappers that come to SMTM are there to break their idol image it's not true at all. E.g. The most successful SMTM idol rappers MINO and BOBBY are proud to be idol rappers and they appeared in SMTM because they wanted to show that they can rap, even though they are idol rappers. In particular MINO who had already debuted when he was in SMTM, in his songs lyrics for the programme he always proudly said that he was from YG, a WINNER member and an idol rapper.

The fact that he always uses metaphors and lyrics that narrates his story, hardships, and sacrifices when making music is one of the reasons why I decided to stan them. they asked a few of them if they knew skz though, so at least some of them by now know that is in fact an idol rapper. they might not know skz themselves, but it doesn’t take a lot to connect 2 and 2 and realize he’s an idol and skz is an idol group.

idol music isn't that big with the general public (aside from a few groups). it's especially harder for male idol groups to chart as their music isn't friendly to the korean general public. but for idols, their main source of revenue is album sales and concerts, so i don't think fans should stress out about people not knowing stray kids
the fact that they used "mixtape #1" as bg when changbin got the necklace, is seen that they did some research. I mean the first lyric of the song is "올라갈 수 있을까 (Will I be able to go up)".
Honestly I underestimated him until I listened to 'STREETLIGHT'. The lyrics was so deep that made me cry my eyes out. I never cried to a song before; maybe I became more sensitive with time

im actually kinda glad that they dont know he's an idol rapper,, because it'll just prove the point that idol rappers are not to be looked down on... changbin (even before debut) has and is continually developing one of the sickest flows in korean rap. and his lyrics are always riddled with meaning and sincerity the kinda thing i respect rappers like epik high for. im so excited for what's to come
....if we're gonna be honest, there's very few idol rappers who are an exception. it's common for members in kpop groups to be made a rapper because they aren't good enough to be a singer. changbin may be an idol, but i don't consider him an idol rapper, along with most of skz's rappers. he and han especially rap on an international level

The truth is that none of these rappers know k-pop groups because they don't even accompany groups, I believe they only know bts or blackpink or twice who is super famous, but that's okay Changbin will show them that stray Kids has the best rap line vocal in the 4th generation!

Thing is this is not even Changbin's at his best like you can legit feel all the nervousness & the feeling that he wanted to focus & do his best so he won't mess up at this stage. Can't wait for him to show more when he's more at ease. :)
I agree I could feel his nerves, but he really did a great job, his flow and pronunciation were very appealing. You can feel that he genuinely wants to improve and show his skills. I am excited to see what else he brings to the table especially when he starts to feel truly confident.

But I feel like as for this show, Changbin would fit this more than Han. Since Han always says that he's more into lyrical/melodic rapping. And this show is more of a fierce and harsh, which wouldn't really fit into Han's personality and style.

I think ppl look down on idol rappers bc so many of them just aren’t real rappers. Their company gives them the rapper position (despite their lack of rap skills) bc they don’t have the vocal abilities to have any other position. And then there are other idols who have a decent amount of rap skills but they don’t even write their own raps, the company just writes it for them. Yes, there are many gems and true rappers in the idol industry but, at the end of the day, a majority of idol rappers just aren’t real rappers. It’s sad that ppl generalize the entire industry but, you can’t blame them for it. But, I respect SpearB and Stray Kids. They are one of the few groups who actually produce, write, and choreograph their own stuff. Their rappers actually write what they spit, and that’s commendable.

not trying to start a fight pls don't hit me but the term "idol rapper" isn't even offensive or degrading though. it's basically just idols who are assigned to "rap", they're not real rappers who actually built their career out of original lyricism and rap flows. idol rappers are TAUGHT to mimic rap according to demo (someone else's rap), real rappers don't do that. they develop their own styles + build their tone and flow from scratch. example of idol rappers are irene from rv and a lot of other gg rappers apart from moonbyul as far as i know. jooheon and changbin introduced themselves as idol rappers because they're already in a kpop group but they're technically more than that. they're idol rappers AND also real rappers as they also have individual projects to showcase their real rap apart from just singing verses for their group songs.
actually "idol rappers" is just a label made up to criticize them and not because they're actually bad rappers... most of the time they're as good as what you'd call "normal" rappers. but thank you for appreciating Changbin!!! guys, Changbin stated here that he wants to be acknowledged as a rapper, but he is not ashamed of being an idol. Usually idols come here to break their idol image, but Changbin wants people to understand that he didn't come here to that. Because Changbin is proud of being an idol. He wanted to perform, so he became an idol. He won't let anyone discredit him or his team because he loves being in Stray Kids and he loves to rap.
And i think thats very noble of him to think. He doesn't need to be ashamed of being an idol because it was the fact that he became an idol that he really got experience and became a good rapper.
So whether you call him SpearB or Changbin, it doesn't matter. He's not ashamed of either identity. They're both him and everyone should respect that and they should respect that he isn't ashamed to be called an idol, even if people try to tear him down for being an idol.
I have HUGE respect towards Changbin and he really made me think that yeah, there are idols who can rap really good. Whether you're underground or an idol, it doesn't matter. The only thing that does matter is how well you rap on the stage.

I agree to what you said about Changbin but saying that idol rappers that come to SMTM are there to break their idol image it's not true at all. E.g. The most successful SMTM idol rappers MINO and BOBBY are proud to be idol rappers and they appeared in SMTM because they wanted to show that they can rap, even though they are idol rappers. In particular MINO who had already debuted when he was in SMTM, in his songs lyrics for the programme he always proudly said that he was from YG, a WINNER member and an idol rapper.

idol music isn't that big with the general public (aside from a few groups). it's especially harder for male idol groups to chart as their music isn't friendly to the korean general public. but for idols, their main source of revenue is album sales and concerts, so i don't think fans should stress out about people not knowing stray kids
the fact that they used "mixtape #1" as bg when changbin got the necklace, is seen that they did some research. I mean the first lyric of the song is "올라갈 수 있을까 (Will I be able to go up)".

....if we're gonna be honest, there's very few idol rappers who are an exception. it's common for members in kpop groups to be made a rapper because they aren't good enough to be a singer. changbin may be an idol, but i don't consider him an idol rapper, along with most of skz's rappers. he and han especially rap on an international level

The truth is that none of these rappers know k-pop groups because they don't even accompany groups, I believe they only know bts or blackpink or twice who is super famous, but that's okay Changbin will show them that stray Kids has the best rap line vocal in the 4th generation!

솔직히 말하자면... 진짜 엄청난 네임드를 자랑하고, 이 씬에서 누구도 반박못할 실력과 인정을 받는 래퍼들이 아이돌래퍼를 아이돌래퍼라는 타이틀자체를 놓고가 아닌 래퍼로써의 실력을 보면서 그들을 왈가왈부한다면 그래도 경연 프로그램이고, 평가를 해야되는 프로그램이니까 그건 맞고 당연한 이치라고 생각이 되는데, 자기들도 똑같이 평가받으러 왔고, 이 씬에서 크게 이름을 떨치지못한 래퍼들이 그저 아이돌래퍼라는 타이틀만을 가지고 저렇게 얘기하는거는 솔직히 이 씬에서는 아니지만, 대중적으로 인기를 얻고 인정을 받는 아이돌래퍼들에 대한 열등감이라고밖에 안느껴지네요
따다다다 랩은 이제 요즘 대부분 잘하고 래퍼들은 톤이 사기일 수록 좋은데 아이돌래퍼들은 허구한 날 긁는 목소리만 하고 대필받고 랩하니까 그런듯 그러니 지코가 개쩌는거고 나만의 스타일 플로우 이런게 갖춰져있으니까
Thing is this is not even Changbin's at his best like you can legit feel all the nervousness & the feeling that he wanted to focus & do his best so he won't mess up at this stage. Can't wait for him to show more when he's more at ease. :)
I agree I could feel his nerves, but he really did a great job, his flow and pronunciation were very appealing. You can feel that he genuinely wants to improve and show his skills. I am excited to see what else he brings to the table especially when he starts to feel truly confident.

But I feel like as for this show, Changbin would fit this more than Han. Since Han always says that he's more into lyrical/melodic rapping. And this show is more of a fierce and harsh, which wouldn't really fit into Han's personality and style.

I think ppl look down on idol rappers bc so many of them just aren’t real rappers. Their company gives them the rapper position (despite their lack of rap skills) bc they don’t have the vocal abilities to have any other position. And then there are other idols who have a decent amount of rap skills but they don’t even write their own raps, the company just writes it for them. Yes, there are many gems and true rappers in the idol industry but, at the end of the day, a majority of idol rappers just aren’t real rappers. It’s sad that ppl generalize the entire industry but, you can’t blame them for it. But, I respect SpearB and Stray Kids. They are one of the few groups who actually produce, write, and choreograph their own stuff. Their rappers actually write what they spit, and that’s commendable.
