    They launch this song with almost no budget, Their outfits were just borrowed, and the other ones were sewn by one of the girl member's mother which is Stacey. This was the time were ABS CBN was shut down (their Management) couldn't afford big production. this was also during pandemic. Nevertheless, kudos to them for not giving up and still supported the girls, even when they are only starting and have not proven any yet.

    As far as I know, they didn't have enough budget during that time, because aside from the pandemic, the company that they work for had shutdown. They weren't even supposed to be launched but the management fought for them. Look where they are now 🎉💯👏

    This song was composed by Ryan Cayabyab and was originally performed by Smokey Mountain last 1991. Yiu could listen to them too. But everytine Bini performs this song, it always brings tears to my eyes coz it is nostalgic. This is their very first song.. and it brings me back on how they started.

    Da coconut nut is written by one of the Philippines National artist. Ryan Cayabyab. It is a novelty song. BINI added some details to make it sound more funky and trendy.
    Fun fact: Da Coconut Nut M/V was made with zero budget.
    All their outfits were only borrowed. It was provided by the directors and their staffs. Even the set design came from all their stuffs. Their white outfits with flower in the front, it was tailored by Stacy’s mom. They bought the garments from a local store through a donation or sponsorship. What’s amazing is, the girls were already so happy despite all that. Because they finally have an M/V. That shows how humble and down to earth they are.

    The Starhunt audition was wayback 2018 and since then, after many elimination while already training daily, they kept on training even until now. According to the girls on one of their livestream, they trained for 4 years until they debut and they are still training until now. If they don't have shoots, events,performances they are training still.

    Ryan Cayabyab, National Artist (a title given by Philippine Presidents) and retired music professor from the University of the Philippines, wrote the Coconut Nut. BINI performed it at the recent Gen C concert celebrating The Maestro's 70th birthday and said it was hard as their voices have deepened since their pre-debut.
    Fun fact: one of BINI's vocal coaches during training was Kitchie Molina, now retired head of the Voice Department of the University of the Philippines College of Music.
    BINI did have the luck of being under the relatively big media corporation ABS-CBN, even if that firm had a crisis and they were among those not cut back. They lived in one house during two years training and a year or so after their debut, which was during the pandemic and quarantine, so it was easier for them to be one household. The making of videos for The Coconut Nut and Born to Win are very informative about their learning process back then.

    da coconut nut is one of the most iconic novelty songs in the country, and i was surprised to find it's popular overseas too! it was released in the 90s i think, and was composed by ryan cayabyab who is one of our national artists for music.
    bini doing their own rendition of the song for their pre debut release was such a good move honestly, i remember watching them perform this on showtime (popular noontime variety show in the ph) and they instantly hooked me

      That's where and when I first saw BINI too. I am just casually watching "It's Showtime" on a regular day, when they were presented. And the level of synchronicity in dancing left me in awe. From then onwards, I have to drop whatever I am doing whenever I get wind that they will be performing on whatever TV program we are currently tuned in.

    First of all, I would like to sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such an avid fan of our girl group pride, BINI. I’m really glad that’s in the uppercase. This kind of deviates from the usual BINI comments to bring you back in Philippine history about the “Da Coconut Nut” song. This was composed by one of the pillars and icons in our country’s music industry, Ryan Cayabyab, who was proclaimed in 2018 the National Artist of the Philippines for his contribution to the music industry. Before this idols and boy/girl groups became insanely famous, Sir Ryan formed a group of four young talented singers called Smokey Mountain that was the Grand Champion of the Tokyo Music Festival way back 1992 for the song “Paraiso,” which means paradise. I am not really asking you to react (it’s your discretion, Sir Pierre), but am recommending you to check the video when the Smokey Mountain won when you have the luxury of time. You would see the resemblance of the outfit style and vocal prowess of this group, including the idea of forming the group, with that of the BINI. ruclips.net/video/Anw9icBmhZs/видео.html I just wished that the social media platforms were already in place at that time. Pardon that this is rather a long comment, but I would also like to add that comes Christmas, you may want to check Sir Ryan’s One Christmas album, which is a collection of acapella all-original Filipino Christmas songs amazingly executed by just one voice. I hope you will consider these, and please continue to discover, appreciate, and love the Filipino music.

    I believe there's a series of videos of their entire journey from auditions to training to debut(which is this song I believe) And it shows how hard BINI worked hard to get where they got. Not sure if they are subbed tho but it's a good watch along with their Road Trip vlog series which is just fun. It was back when they were self promoting their group and it was sometimes hard to see people not know them back then. I'm fairly new to being a Bloom(fandom name) and seeing their hard work really makes you proud of BINI

  • @adrianplata204
    @adrianplata204 3 месяца назад +7

    They were only just teenagers when this music video was filmed. And their hairstyles in the MV were not their original (they still underwent some styling). 😅 I strongly recommend watching (probably on your own time without necessarily making a formal reaction out of it) "The Making of Da Coconut Nut Part 1 & 2" to see their struggles in putting up this music video. The behind the scene documentary will give you a decent picture of what they've been through during their training days up to the launching of this pre-debut single. I assure you that it will be a fun watch and is totally gold (very worth your time). ❤💚💙
    With regards to your questions, the recruitment for this PPop Group project by their management ABS-CBN was held in 2018. From 3000+ auditionees, several screening process were held until only the few best remained. When "Da Coconut Nut" was launched, the girls had already been training for roughly 2 years. The song was selected because it is popular to both the old and new generation. They aim to honor our national artist Ryan Cayabyab by making a twist to the original song by doing it upbeat this time.

    This song is so popular in North America, and my father says it has become popular too in some parts of Europe, like Germany, so I think you hear it when you are a kid because this song was a school performing act or something about choir back then.

  • @butternutmunchkin
    @butternutmunchkin 3 месяца назад +2

    I appreciate it that BINI did a cover of this popular song. I remember singing "Da Coconut Nut" with my classmates inside a bus during one of our school field trips in the early '90s. For a time, I thought that Yoyoy Villame (a popular local novelty singer) sang this piece. I later learned that it was the band Smokey Mountain.
    Anyway, we are happy that you continuously find joy in getting to know BINI better. It's the fun part about being a Bloom.

    while their precision and synchronization are really amazing (as early as that time),
    what is more impressive is the fluidity and natural-ness of their movements like they're just having fun (and I believe they really are).
    Although it is a small detail, they all have ponytails or bunched-up hair that all flick away in sync to accentuate their head movements, and add that extra flair and flourish to their performance.

    ruclips.net/video/kdX8GTKLcTk/видео.html
    The group is called Smokey Mountain. It's a legendary group back then. Ryan Cayabyab is the composer of this song. The song's lyrics describe the uses of the different parts of a coconut tree. Cayabyab, in an interview with ABS-CBN, said that the song was composed in the novelty style popularized by Yoyoy Villame (a very popular novelty singer), whom at times the song was incorrectly attributed to.
