I made a rule for myself that for each member of the elite four, i could only use pokemon that were caught in their respective biome. So for Coastal, i could only use pokemon caught in the Coastal Biome. Made it quite fun to team build
For me, I only allowed myself to use pokemon that are newly introduced in gen 9 and no paldean champs. It took me a while to build a team that isn't too op, and had double battle synergies. I even had to do most things manually (exp grinding, ev training, egg moves, etc) because I only bought the game when both dlc dropped. So when he said I was cheesing I was a little annoyed xd
Interesting challenge. Reminds me of how N battled in BW1. He would only battle you with pokemon that could be found in the particular location you were in.
for me i did a diff challenge, I banned every single attacking move instead.
the strats i came up with for this were pretty funny.
having to use hazards + phasing moves + perish song + leech seed and a few other tactics to stall it out.
funnily enough the keiran is by far the easiest of them all to do this against
I used old pokemon of mine, such as my first-ever Blaziken that I've improved over time, and even then, I still found them all to be a challenge.

This was a heck of a humbling Infernape wrench. Drayton KNEW we’d all bring Level 100 story teams and/or Ogrepon into this trial. Oh well, time to rebuild my team from scratch!
Eh, I beat the trial with only a Beartic, Reuinclus, and Alolan Exectutor. It wasn’t that hard.
Edit: I feel the need to point out, I did not level these Pokemon at all from when I caught them, only changed their moves around a bit.
@@killerbean6254 I grabbed a Chespin, a Charmander, and a Mudkip, fully evolved all three of them, and if memory serves I combined them with an Alolan Sandslash I had been working on, a Galarian Slowbro, and the Kleavor that’s hanging around in the Canyon Biome with no explanation of why Hisuian Pokémon like that and Qwilfish are chilling in the Terrarium but I can’t evolve my Rowlet, Cyndaquil, or Oshawott into their Hisuian forms or get a Hisuian Sneasel, Bascuillin, Goodra, or Lilligant.
@@WriterKing92 Cool. Also, wanna know something funny? I essentially only had two Pokémon because I exclusively had my Beartic spam sheer cold. It didn’t work a single time but it was funny.

Initially I was a bit miffed by this rule as it meant I had to go out of my way to train up some pokemon that I didn't necessarily care about. However, after I did it I actually had some really fun battles with the trainers and with Drayton so it was pretty cool in the end. Realistically, I had already caught a ton of Pokemon in the region by the thing that kind of sucked was that I couldn't use Pokemon that I had caught from the raids despite them happening in the biome so my team wasn't as cool as I wanted it to be but I still got the job done.
Yeah, they could have allowed you to use the raid ‘mons as long as they were caught from raids in the Terarium…That felt like a bit much

Can you unlock the Biome upgrades before the trials? Cause I wanna get myself a Tepig. Just got the game for Christmas, but got the DLC too. If I don't have to use the bad mons that are available, I would be so grateful for that

That threw a complete wrench to my plans as well.... Good thing I found some good Pokémon in the Biomes. Two such, Kleavor and Swampert, carried this Trail in great fashion!
I just used excadrill till Drayton, than I swept him with my Sylveon and Hisuian Typholsion

Oh yeah, caught me off guard, but still relatively easy. I'm speaking as someone who mainly used the team for the main game in the DLCs. Just caught some mons, levelled them up once to evolve them if I needed to, and go in the battles. Was hella fun, would do again XD
I used new teams for both DLC from the get go so seeing this was relieving that I did so.

I never cheese out on Drayton in his Elite Trial, so I had to use my Pokemon caught in the Terarium to make this a fair battle.
Drayton is still kind enough to let me use my ace starter and some Legendaries I brought from my Sword File.
Thus, my adaptability for doubles seems fair for me.
This trial made me glad I caught the nearby Tera Duraludon and evolved it into Archaludon
Ok, ngl, the BB E4 is the hardest challenge I ever faced. The fire one took me 3 attempts to beat. I only need 1 attempt for the stell and fairy, but I barely won with only 1 mon left on red hp, and for this guy, it took me FIVE attempts, I had to legit rearrange, ev train, and swap mons in my team to bear his team.
We need this to be the difficulty for the actual e4 and champ.
I wanna ask how is it possible to struggle this much in a Non-Competitive-ish Battle facility in Pokémon?
I only lost 1 once in this entire DLC and that was against Drayton because of that lame only use Pokémon you caught in the Terrarium Rule, and even then it was because i was too lazy to switch over to my Main Pokémon.

@@Max1996YT the A.I is too stupid to make full use of the competitive Pokémon and strategies given to it, therefore it is not a real competitive battle.
Only in a battle facility is the A.I somewhat competent and difficult (mostly due to Lv 50 cap).

This was my favorite Gym/Elite-trial in SV and Sword and Shield period. It makes use of the fact that you are in a new area so go catch and use some new Pokemon. I was already planning on completing the BB Dex at the time so it wasn't as big a deal to me compared to someone who hadn't caught all that many Pokemon, but also I did this trial first, so it was genuinely difficult. Also it's biggest flaw is that raid battles in the Terrarium weren't legal which sucked. But Reuinclus was easily available alone in the Mountain? Biome (I'm sleepy and I think I forgot the name of the biome lol) and with a huge Special Attack, it's main issue is being slow. If you wanted to, you could use a few and teach 1 or 2 of them Trick Room, and give them Left Overs and make sure at least 1 has Focus Blast/Miss.
Also I think it was a good decision to make it only mandatory to use Terrarium caught Pokemon in the gym trainer battles, because if it was required for the battle against Drayton, that'd be to far imo
Lucky for me, I was already gathering a new team for the fight. Still, I had to replace half of my team members with other newbies
same, only memebrs of my team that arent from the terarium are ogrepon, for lore reason, and swampert wich iv transfered to the each game i owned since gen 3 and im ecstatic of using it in a story playtrough again without feeling TOO overpowered

I was quite sad at this trial. My favourite Pokemon is Gardevoir and I’ve had one for every adventure since XY. But then when Drayton said I couldn’t use her in this fight, I was so saddened. Worse, the Ralts line aren’t available in Indigo Disk like they are in Teal Mask, so I couldn’t catch a replacement and train her up. I just wanna use my favourite Pokemon, dude! 😢
Can't you just hatch an egg in the terraruim? Would that not work?
The restriction only applies to those three trainers (who are not hard to beat in the slightest) though, when you fight Drayton himself you can use whatever Pokemon you want.
lol i thought the tera raid pokemon in ternium counts but good thing i caught stuff along the way.
Yeeep. I thought I could use a raid Metagross with some great IVs, but nope, location was labeled "crystal cavern", and thus not "terrarium".
This kind of shows off a duplicity to Drayton's personality. It's kind of sneaky that he's the only one to force you to use pokemon only found in the terrarium that might not be battle ready if you didn't build a team around that. But it's also likely that he's smart enough to know that you might've just steamrolled your way to him and want's to make sure that you didn't bumble your way through the game.
Imagine not crafting a new team for the teal mask just to have fun
Good thing that the biomes gave strong things, such as Contrary Superpower Malamar.
Good thing I made a rule back in Isle of Armor that I have to use Pokémon native to the DLC area
This one trial made me realize that each BB Elite Four are placed in a biome where the choices for counter type Pokemon are all over the place. Might not be strong ones, but decent enough choices.
I did this Elite Four the same way I did the base game; I fight them with the same type and same party size, with similar or at most +3 level to the one I'm facing. One extra rule is that I should try to not have the same Pokemon with the one I'm facing, but the nicer fairy and steel types are all already used, so it got me in quite some trouble.
I never had an issue with it because I planned on catching an all new team for the dlc from the start.
I actually really liked Drayton's Trial this it reminded me of a Roguelike Pokemon Rom Hack i seen (also he didn't say you couldn't effort train/ Hyper train those Terarium pokemon and I had a reason to use the Shiny Trapinch i found at the beginning!) but to be fair i didn't go past the level of his ace to keep it a challenge.
And then I made a competitively viable team using all Terarium Pokémon. I can blame both myself and my friend on info like this 😂

lol they said Pokemon caught in the biome overworld, but nothing about their levels, so I overleveled the hell out of mine and went to town with pwning Drayton's pals.

I actually decided to do this on my own, but all my Pokémon were caught in Kitakami. So I had to replace them anyway.

I built a new team every DLC so I was fully prepared for this trial.
I used a team of all lapras I caught in the Arctic biome and cheesed it lol

My Alolan Muk with Minimize, Recycle, Substitute, and Belch and holding a Leppa Berry and my Galarian Slowking with Iron Defense, Nasty Plot, Slack Off, and Stored Power easily duod this trial.
I felt personally attacked by this trial.

I just used and Excadrill and a Talonflame and spammed earthquake and brave bird. Didn't even need to level them lol.
I love how the game acts like you don't have the xp candy to lvl a new team of 6 to 100 at this point in the dlc

I went with a kinda cool team leaded by Flygon and Excadrill. Couln't use sand force because it was snowing.
I’m so guilty of this I’ve been using the paradox pokemon for almost the entire indigo disk
I don't remember what team I ised off the top of my head but I just threw 6 random mons in the team leveled them up and made it work then proceeded to beat him with my full ev team

I entered with a brand new team of shinies I hunted for Indigo Disk, just so I WOULDN'T steamroll through it, only for Drayton to pull this stunt lmao. 1 out of the 6 Pokémon I had was from the Terarium (a shiny Reuniclus). Putting all of Drayton's shenanigans aside, this DLC was HARD. I had to build competitive sets just to get past some of the E4. Drayton kicked my ass 5 times in a row.
I both had a headache and fun doing that. mostly trying to get a friend to evolve my electabuzz and seadra
I just swept all 3 dudes with a Flygon/Electross duo with earthquake. I didn't even need to level up the mons.
I just level up the pokemon I caught with the exp candy till they overpowered, i still cheesed it
My Pokemon were max evolved before the first gym battle
I remember this part... I just grabbed a Flygon and Alolan Vulpix and somehow just those two freshly caught pokemon helped me through (I thought I was only allowed to use 2 pokemon)
Bruh I didn’t realise I could of just switched back to me regular team fighting Drayton so I fought him with my random team I slapped together. I was on my starts though with trick room granbull

I over prepared for this challenge
Caught 4 terrarium Pokemon, thinking I was facing 3 teams that had 4 Pokemon per team, EV trained the Pokemon, nature mints the Pokemon, and levelled up the Pokemon.
Only to find out that opponents only had 2 Pokemon per battle at the level the Pokemon can be found in the wild

For whatever reason, my team of terrarium Pokémon didn’t live up to his standards so I hunkered down and just went with the polar biome only and then he accepted. Not going to lie, it was fun but I wasn’t sure why he didn’t accept ones from other biomes in the terrarium.
Mons caught in raids don't count either. Bro rejected the Porygon2 I caught from one when I tried.

Honestly didn't bother me at all, I wanted a challenge so I was using a completely new team (and I even amped up the difficulty even more by going mono-steel type team). If I was here to feel satisfaction over sweeping weaker Pokemon with overleveled Pokemon I would just fight random trainers in Paldea lol

It wouldn't be so bad if they didnt for some reason consider raid dens to be outside of the Terarium. That doesn't make any sense. Do you enter a parallel universe or something when you crawl into a raid den?
I really like the idea behind it, it is a great point, but I wonder if that includes Pokemon that live in the terrarium that you HATCH there. Like, do Egg Pokemon count?

Ugh. Mega lame, I was really hoping it would be a bit more generous. Especially since you DO catch Pokemon in Tera Raid Dens in the Terrarium, I have no clue what they were thinking when they made that restriction. I guess they don't want people going in with exceptionally high IV Pokemon that easily.
@@ungurdagda813 *"caught living wild in the Terarium"* were Drayton's exact words. Meaning it had to already be a wild Pokémon in the Terarium, and also that Tera Raid Pokémon, always described as having been caught in a crystal cavern, don't qualify.
Man, I wish they AT LEAST got rid of the EV and IV thing since apparently we can change the genetics. Everyone is gonna use Perfect Pokemon so what's the point.
If you need mewtwo, or any legendary for that matter to be able to beat these two games, I hate to break it to you, but you're bad at pokemon in general.

I mean, pretty sure this is basically post game by stuff, and just making every opponent level 100 isn't smart
The "problem" with Pokemon is that they don't have difficulty settings, so they have to make the game beatable for 6 year olds (the age rating of Pokemon games). So it's not that the in-game battles are easy (hey, a lot of casuals struggle with doubles this time), you are too old to consider those battles a challenge. It's also why Pokemon has been paying more attention to ranked battles and balancing now, because people who have a lot of experience will find the real challenge in ranked.
@@flutter-mane let's also look at the battle towers. That sets your levels to a certain point, and actually limits what you can use too. There is also the issue of it being AI... Unlike a player they can't always change things up with every resource available while maintaining the character's.. character, and just making them HP sponges is not making it "Harder" it's making them more of a time sink
@@firepuppies4086 Set levels are good for competitive and semi competitive formats but it's garbage for storytelling. Pokemon was meant to be an RPG, so levelling and grinding has to be part of it. The reality is, most of the Pokemon players are in it for the RPG experience and not for the strategic experience. I bet a huge majority never stepped foot in any of the post game battle facilities.
