James S there’s probably 20 different tuning programs for sale right now that will deactivate or raise the top speed limiter that only cost a couple hundred dollars. Clearly Hennessey can disable the limiter because they have already ran over 200 mph in other Mustangs that they’ve tuned. It is just a computer program after all.
James S they're saying they should do one with the limiter off. I'm not sure how you can misinterpret that. I mean it's pretty straightforward comment. This video is showing a drive with the limiter on so he would like to see one where they take the factory limiter off which is something that is very possible.

Marc Monson I thought I was the only one that noticed. If it hadn't shifted early he may have hit top speed at the top of 6th.
Marc Monson he had it in normal/sport mode instead of drag mode which shifts higher in the rpm.

It's a 10 speed automatic...... without the electronic nanny it would go through the gears normally. But with wind resistance it will probably stay under 180-90 and probably wouldn't need 9th gear....or much of it.

I cant even count how many Mustangs i see everyday especially just the base Mustangs not even the GT’s and ill spot a couple 350’s usually(Pretty damn obvious to spot with the hood and stripes). The base Mustang was actually made for the average person to afford to to drive something a little different yet affordable and well id beg to differ but, a fun car. Especially the ecoboost im sure they get good gas tbh. However the car enthusiast or people who just want fun then the GT is your base loll

Geometryjosh 21 wondering the same...before 2005, the mustang had no speed limiter. Then the 2014 GT500 took it off again. As well as the new gt350s. Seems like the mass produced models are speed limited so dumbasses can't run from the cops (highway patrol Dodge chargers can do 170mph+).

Most mid level performance cars are electronically limited. My friends 17 v6 mustang is limited at 125. Sad because my 07 g35 was limited at 155 and it got there easy. And same horsepower as a v6 stang.

Escape for Mankind is Keith Johnson I'm not saying it isn't fast. It's damn quick. I am just saying the ratio spacing is terrible.
It has a really LOONG first gear for a 10 speed that unnecessarily takes it to 40mph, then up to 4th they're spaced like a normal 5/6 speed. Gears 5-7 are then so close they're useless, then it has a huge gap and drops a load of RPM in 8th, 9th and 10th.
Give Ford 10 ratio's to play with to help it launch and bang gears and they make half of them useless. Typical.
Actually it's one of the best transmissions ever made.
Decent fuel economy and fast as hell. Fast precise shifts no hunting for gears and keeps the engine at the optimal power range. And if you want to shift it yourself, use the paddle shifters. I'm betting your times wouldn't improve, the computer does a great job if you have it on the right setting.
As for dropping a lot of RPM in 8,9,10th gear...... it's a street car.
This isn't Gran Turismo with sport track close ratio 5 or six speed manual transmission gearing.
Cleetis McDougall OH MY GOD. I am not saying the computer isn't doing a good job shifting. I am saying the ratios are in the wrong place. If it's so good, why aren't Lexus, ZF or ANYONE ELSE spacing their gearing like this. Yes I know this isn't Gran Turismo, but the fact that you get 40 in 1st in a 10 speed shows just how stupid the ratios are. Space them EVENLY to keep the engine in the right spot. It holds it in the right spot for 5th to 7th. That's it.
Spac8 this transmission is a Ford/GM collaboration. They put a ton of time and money into it's development. Companies have to balance performance and economy to survive. I don't really get the point of a comparison between this transmission and a Lexus transmission.
I care about if the previous generation of Mustang performs better than the last, and it does.
You might want to check actual performance numbers. I believe the Mustang numbers are better than Lexus by quite a bit. And look at the price gap. I compared the Mustang to the LC 500 with it's 10 speed.
And my explorer goes 160....I cant believe they limit this beast

Why can't Ford lead in the acceleration wars instead of last place and catch up only to never really catch up. I've seen all the videos of 11s and low 12s but the simple fact of the matter is it's not a low 12 car. It does 4.4 sec 0 to 60 and 12.4 at 115 in the 1/4 and that's on a good day.
7th gear is 1:1, so with 3.55 rear gear 170-175 is as fast as it will go till redline. I doubt it would have anymore pull in 8th gear.
My 08 gt did around that same speed 10 years ago when it was stock. So are we buying new mustangs for the sound
Obviously it's limited. I saw 157, for says 155mph limit. I'm sure it's capable of much higher. That was just the aerodynamic limit the reached. Not to be mistaken for a true top speed at all.
A guy on the autobahn went 260 kph(161.5 mph). Maybe he was going downhill(lol). It flashed 260 and then settled at 259 kph.

They limit it based off the tires. Get tires rated for 200+ mph and keep it bone stock and see what it does

Ford never puts it all on the table people think they are dumb. They want you to buy aftermarket parts. All you you need is a hand held tuner to remove the top speed governor and the tuner makes shifting alot quicker in automatics I have an sct tune on my 04 GT and I can make the wheels chirp hitting 2nd and it's automatic.
Use caution with these 2 peace driveshafts. They with fail 50% of the time above 155mph.
My old 07 g35 sedan pulled around the same from 120+ where does this things power go?

That thing is fast stock! That thing doesnt need much more power to hit 200mph.
Ryan Spalding actually it would. At best that car might hit 170's completely stock. Also top speed isn't a straight curve. The faster you go the more hp you need to gain to go faster. If an extra 20hp gets you 10 more mph at say 100 mph you would need an extra 100+hp to gain 10 more mph at 200mph. I'm guessing with the factory aerodynamics of a mustang you'd need at least 650-700hp to hit 200mph. That's a LOT more than stock. You also have to consider that the higher gears in that tranny are horrible for putting down power too. You'd need a LOT of horsepower for that car to pull in high speeds in 8th, 9th or especially 10th gear. 10th gear is probably around .60 which even with 800hp is not going to be able to accelerate.

So many gears lol I get confused in my Charger R/T 8-speed, now there is 10 gears lol. I love it, bet it feels good to master ever gear, and those downshifts sound really good.

Not to bad. However a stock SRT8 will get to 150 in 22 sec and this looks like about 23.5 or so. I've seen many videos of the new Mustang still getting whooped by stock R/T scats snd SRT Challys. Otherwise I'd have bought one. They are overrated again. 460 hp on 93/94 octane is not what the other cars rate power on, its 89/91.
08turboSS There's 2 RT auto's Challengers at my work, one with the scat, and 2 2015 GT's 6 spd manual. Those RT's don't even come close to the 2015 GT's let alone a 2018 with the 10 speed auto. They're way too heavy
