I wish i could comment back on all of your amazing comments, i was privileged enough to know him personally. and I'd like to know I can speak for all of you when i say, that this music, his music was made for us, his fans, but first his best friends. that's who we were to him. I know he loves you all. R.EYE.P
That just murdered my soul. The beauty of it is he didn't have to face an inevitable war I'm honestly terrified of, but I'd be a liar if I didn't want them to bring it already!!!!! EYEDEA LIVES he will be right at my side and yours!
+Gabriel Inclan They really don't even know what they're missing. This guy deserves much more than a documentary. He should have a movie made about himself..and Rhymesayers Entertainment, maybe his rise to fame, from karate as a young man to break dancing, to freestyling, to battling everywhere and making First Born, at 16 going on tour already, winning the Blaze Battle, to his heartbreaking addiction (I relate to that very much. 5 yrs sober after a 10yr heroin addiction myself) to rising even higher making a dozen more incredible albums, performances everywhere, up to his sobriety two years before he died... such an accomplished, beautiful person. 😢😔😂😏
Yeah it's tragic of course, but at least he accomplished so much, gave us so much in such little time. You couldn't say the man failed, that's for sure
"...and I hope you're still here. I do, and if i'm lucky enough I'll be here too." I'm in tears right now. Two more days until the anniversary of his passing. Please show respect for this man.
Crazy thing is when we were at a show and Eyedea was performing we knew exactly how special that was in the moment. now looking back as a grown man I appreciate those moments soo much more..
This beautiful man, poet, freestyle legend will live with me until I pass. By the throat will always remain my favourite album of all time. Rest easy my man, you taught us so much. x
@@jekylwhispy Eyedea went straight ironic rockstar, with the performance... Holding the mic stand, not just the mic. Eyedea had some of the most thought provoking bars ever! He and DJ Abilities wanted me to go full force into Hip Hop.
There’s nobody like him, he could possibly save your life yet he died to keep you alive that’s how it feels and I wonder why the most beautiful people die young, it makes me think they’re still alive it blows my mind.
You CANNOT deny the beauty of someone just playing their HEART & SOUL out... forget if u like the sound listen to what I just said. How many "artists" even have souls?!
the fire and warmth of the rarest love are so much embodied by this man and his lyrics... delivery... what a soul. i came in way too late to this but i'm thankful to my son that i came in at all.
I play this just about every day. He was awesome live. Such a passionate person! It can be hard to rap that fast on a stage. So was Abilities-he sounds just like it does on the album. Such precision on both parts.
Soulfly FreeJack If you haven't yet, watch, "Skydiver" live (at Intermedia Arts Studios) where they perform their new release album at the time, By the Throat. That's my favorite song *live* next to this one ;) but I get pissed bec I can't find the full show

I wish he could have known how much his words had an impact on so many of us. I'll never forget my first serious boyfriend introducing me to Eyedea's music, and the lyrics and emotion just absolutely blew me the fuck away.

Dead or Alive, Eyedea is my favorite artist. Dead or Alive, his words mean so much. I miss him, but I am glad that he left such an imprint on the world.
This was my fav track off E&A when I first was spinning it. Now I kinda veer to Burn Fetish but serious love for this one. And damn what Abilities doing here...
Does the crowd realize the lyrical genius they are lucky to see? Rest in Paradise Eyedea... Bringing intellectual hip-hop to the masses... Thanks for everything you've done E.
dude as much as i want to believe what youre saying because eyedea deserves everyones undivided respect i was watching a live concert of his and he had a bandaid on his left arm and skydiver was playing i think and he just finished saying genious by day junkie by night :c regardless this man will never lose my respect aint no way
I love this song and all of Eyedea's songs. I find it hilarious that during his "Poverty, charity, clarity.." thing he looks and soungs really bored, but then he builds up and gets really into the song. Eyedea was the best, R.EYE.P
There are very few artist that sounds as good as they do on a album as they do in real life. There is not one mainstream rapper that will sound good without autotunning.
more soul came out of that man's mouth than there are people on earth! Dude was utterly awake. If a Buddha is an enlightened one, Eyedea was A Buddha no doubt :)
2:09 "One day it's gonna shatter and i hope you're still here, I do! If I'm lucky enough I'll be here too" Woah, that one hurt. Rest In Poetry and Rhyme In Paradise Eyedea
@MattTheFlyDude He is still here. He will always still be here, in the present, along with everyone who has ever existed and everyone who will ever exist. Eyedea was awake to reality and its nature; listen to his lyrics, meditate on what he is saying, they will help you understand. Listen to First Born in its entirety with the lyrics at hand.
Hey! I love you too! It's high time EvErYbODy keeps it real- and it's not a hard thing to do. Seek passion, seek Eyedea! If u haven't, you're all missing out so bad, I couldn't possibly explain that shit.
Yeah totally. It's different and that's what I love about it. It took a while for me to get into it but now I fuckin love it. They're completely progressive now, and if you believe in the evolution of music as an art form you'll know that they're going the route they choose. It was 5 years since the last one, things change.
I look up to him I started listening to his music when I was eight and I had a fantasy of him being my brother too since I didn't have a bro or sis and know I'm 14
@Kazper613 One of my best friends from childhood actually just died on Saturday. She had Cystic Fibrosis and was un-diagnosed until age 3... Growing up she spent 4-5 months a year in the hospital and wasn't expected to live to 5, or 10, or 15... or 20... or 25... She died at 30. She spent her entire conscious life hyper aware of her mortality. To assume Eyedea was clinging to life as desperately as I'm sure you do, is to not see the whole picture. She taught me to live until it is time.
@Gavernty Yep. Right around the one minute mark, he just morphs, like he transcends to a different plane of consciousness. He grabs back onto reality around 1:30 and then just totally lets go of it around 2:25. It's always inspiring to watch him perform.
Stickman is right. It's funny how all of us can feel Eyedea's every word and/or get chills just from watching this video and the crowd looks like they're performing for mannequins. If you haven't seen the 'sky diver' performance, check that out as well. Amazing.
that's what i thought too. but then i realized i was holding them to a standard of their old stuff. but their new album, is just a different/new style of greg's with his new vestrax. i too prefer their old stuff form first born, but last week i saw them live and gained a new appreciation for them
yeah man. i went to their concert in phoenix, az. we fuckin made that place live. e&a played at 11 we were there before thru 3 artists and still rocked that place with a good vibe
the people in the crowd dont understand how lucky they are to have seen this
Realest shit ever
Exactly. I would have climbed a 20 ft fence if I had to lol
That crowd sucked, im sorry eyedea you deserve better
I got to see him live back in high school. So glad I went.
They have absolutely no idea

Yeah it's tragic of course, but at least he accomplished so much, gave us so much in such little time. You couldn't say the man failed, that's for sure
But I wonder where he would have gone next. Seems like he was always trying to do something different

When he says "I do!" I think his most humanity surfaces. May God bless his soul!
Eyedea is the best lyricist of ALL TIME!!!!
Lol I'm not gonna play that game but yeahhh he was REALLY good. Really. Good.
"wipe the face off my grin" damn that's nice

Hes definitely up there with the greats, so much feeling in his lyricism, not to mention he was an incredible battle rapper.
This is what would be like to watch William Shakespeare performing his own words.
Ahead of his time, behind of our time, not from this time.
I love watching him live. Sooo good. It's nice to live in an age where we can access it
This world didn’t deserve Eyedea
How has no one mentioned "Keep my mirrors dirty, in case vanity backfires..." That line is so deep.
I installed a vanity today this is deep lol
Yessssssssssss
Such a great poet!
Imperfections.
Exist.
Because every line is deep

best lyricist ever , Rest in peace , your spirit will last.

all. but they lost sight of it long ago! That's y Eyedea is the fucking best. Never hid it from anyone! 😡😡😡
He was an amazing fucking lyricist.... intelligent as hell
the sincerity in his voice when he says " i do" is amazing. RIP mikey
