    This Kolkata looks so pristine, serene yet so full of life. The bustle of the city enamored by developments of the new century, youth huddled up in the newly built industrial sectors, big dreams making a lot of noise, much lesser chaos than this day. 2004's Calcutta looks so modern. I bet, environment, books, greeting cards, integrity had more meaning then. I was in third standard only then. Purely nostalgic!❤

    I saw this montage first on fb and now on YT. People becoming nostalgic how the city hasn’t changed much from that time. Indeed. Apart from the attitude of the people, nothing has changed. Also, my pristine Kolkata, greener Kolkata. Be it AJC Bose Road flyover, Infinity think tank or the vessels over the Ganges. Nothing! Even the voice of Madhumanti Moitra in Metro PAS can still be found in non Medha AC rakes. The then LF Govt. stayed maximum for 7 more years from then but we get to see those things. People have changed. People were aware of their surroundings, they were smart.
    I wish, I get back my Kolkata!

      @trishanku27 15 дней назад +1

      It was not clean back then. Progressively it has become cleaner. At the same time it has rapidly lost its greenery and water bodies. Roads have become wider and comparatively better with underground drainage. Bypass roadsurface is an exception mainly due to metro construction. Air is more polluted with more vehicles, but per vehicle pollution is less. 'Kata tel' autos are absent and diesel belching vehicles are less in numbers. People were rude back then, as they are today. But they were more modest in spending on luxuries and they interacted more due to absence of mobiles. Kolkata has grown in terms of infra, but other metros have grown exponentially compared to Kolkata. This is how I feel after experiencing the city for the last 45 years.

Though their compassionate handling of the refugee crisis post creation of bangladesh and land reforms policies garnered a lot of local support, but they just could not keep up with the progressive policies of other states. Trade unionisim and flight of capital followed. Jobs decreased and educated section of society settled elsewhere. Then came the switch of power. I was in Kolkata, Behela Chourasta as a young kid in 1985 to 1989. Remember the flood, frequent power cut and team ride. The road to Dumdum was so clean and green.
    Then again in 2004 for few months on Behela Chourasta, that time tram was still there. And everything was so simple.
    Then lived again from 2010 to 2019 in Salt Lake and EM Bypass. The metro was not ready then in these streches or in Behela when I went there to meet old uncle.
    See a lot of changes in EM Bypass, Rajar hat, New Town etc.
    Now out of Kolkata since 2019. Don't know when will be back there again.

    It looked so modern at that time 😲. Just imagine if all was going this way then it could have the same legacy as foreign cities. And now Kolkata looks 🤡

Abhi sara rang karke kachra kar diya.. . Woh phele wala light phir se lana chahiye

    That time kolkata is really a nice place to travel, it was safe, clean and less populated. A decades ago kolkata is famous for his GangaSagar and Howrah bridge, But now bengal is fallen, its infrastructure and law system is totally corrupted.Infiltraters from Bangladesh is making it a crime state.
