    Beautiful boy, in 7 weeks I'm getting one.
    I was just wondering is there a stage you would replace the clicker with just words? And is there a good ideal stage to stop giving treats if they sit/lay down/wait when asked?

    • @Ash2Auss
      @Ash2Auss  3 года назад +3

      From the beginning I would use the clicker and a marker word like YES. that way the dog knows both markers. Then as they learn the things I fade to using the verbal word in real life and the clicker only when learning new things.
      When weaning off treats, you went to make sure your dog is 99% in most situations. But don’t just go cold Turkey. You slowly wean them from a treat for every sit, to a treat for every 3 sits, and so on. With cues like COME and LEAVE IT. I either don’t wean off rewards/treats until they are closer to a-2 yes old if ever. When outside my dogs still get a reward for COME. and if they had to leave something difficult like a piece of chicken on the side of the roadX they get a treat for LEAVE IT as well.

    A mind of their own?
    At six months or so they all go death, oh they hear but they engage their delay factor while they decide if they want to do what was asked if them and when is a factor in that also. I hope a bit of that helps, a revolving source of input helps and keeps them from getting board. Loved my springers, have had britts for over 20 years now, can't imagine a day with out my friends.

    HI Ashley! I was hoping you could help me 🙏 I've been feeling so hopeless lately.
    I have an English Springer Spaniel puppy that is 12 weeks old.
    I got her when she was just 8 weeks old. At first she was so sweet and eager to learn just like Blake!
    Potty training was going well and she learned the command "sit" in 3 days. She still sits on command.
    But now all she does is bite me and my family 😔 I feel like I can't even bond with her.
    When we walk past her, she'll grab onto our legs or ankles and not let go causing our skin to rip.
    Even if we tell her to sit or give her a stern no or distract her by switching out body part with a toy. Sometimes she'll fling the toy away and go for our body again.
    When I try to walk her she'll bite the leash and then charge towards me and bite my legs and hand and chews really hard. I end up coming back inside crying with my hand still in her mouth.
    I'm not sure why she had such a huge change.
    I can't even train her anymore because all she does is bite.
    I try to walk away from the situation and leaving her alone. When I come back she's super sweet and licking my hands and then 10 minutes later she's chewing on me.
    My family is afraid to spend time with her now because of how aggressive her biting gets and I'm afraid of my 5 year old being anywhere near her.
    This is my 3rd dog that I've owned.
    I used to have a cocker spaniel who passed away from old age in 2016 and a cockapoo that passed away recently.
    They were both very sweet so this is new to me

      #Unveiled Wonderland I felt so sad to read about your dreadful problems with your dog and even sadder that you never got a reply at all from Ashley. If she couldnt help you, then at least she could have said so. This was the first video I saw, but when I saw/read that you were ignored I decided to move on to a different springer spaniel channel. I really do hope that somehow you can find a cure. Our springer has problems too but nothing like what you have described. I can't imagine what I would do ... a huge dilemma. I wish you heartfelt luck.

      @@luluwitt2545 Thank you so much for your reply ❤️ It feels like forever ago that I wrote this comment. Chippy is turning 10 months soon and has become the sweetest pup ever. She doesn't bite at all now. All she does is lick and ask for belly rubs. She's still very hyper and although she is trained to go in the backyard, whenever we're not with her for more than an hour, she'll make a mess with her poo or destroy furniture 😕 I'm guessing it's separation anxiety. Other than that, she is wonderful. She's great with my now 6 year old. They're best friends! ☺️ It took a month or two to get her to stop biting completely. We just ignored her when she got that way. We would walk away and just let her be until she calmed down. Then she would be the one looking for us for affection. You can message me on Instagram if you'd like so I can share some pictures of her with you! 😊 My Instagram is Unveiled.Moonlight

He is crazy in the car, jumping around everywhere but the car is too small for a cage of his size. (8 mths). He barks nastily at all guests even when they have come more than once. He pulls me around on a walk and I can hardly hold him. Other than that, he is a sweet dog.

    We now have a 9 week old springer, very good over night and toilet, sit and paw! Only trouble we’re having is when playing as he is teething he sometimes goes for our hands! How would you recommend getting him to stop going for our hands? We just try and get a toy in his mouth before our hand!

    • @Ash2Auss
      @Ash2Auss  3 года назад

      Best options are to first redirect to a toy (as your doing. If that does not work, I remove myself or them from the situation if as to say "I don't play like that and when you bite me I will stop playing with you" . I would also make sure we aren't playing games involving only hands with the puppy. Make sure you are always using a toy.

      Hi! I was using a clicker. I do marker training which either uses a clicker or a verbal marker to let the dog know they did the right thing and a reward will follow.

    • @candacedawn357
      @candacedawn357 3 года назад

      @@Ash2Auss Thank you for the explanation. Is the verbal marker just commands you make?

    • @Ash2Auss
      @Ash2Auss  3 года назад +1

      @@candacedawn357 Hey! So a verbal marker would a noise or one word (ex YES) you would say to Mark they did the right thing. This is different then the cue given to perform the behavior and it is also different from praise like “good boy”.
      The order would be Cue -> Marker -> reward
      Example: SIT -> my dog performs desired behavior -> click or mark “yes” -> reward with treats and praise

      Depends on the puppy. It’s all about finding what they like and different situations may call for different value of treats.
      For low value treats: dry dog food/kibble
      Medium value: any store bought training treats, or Cheerios for a low calorie
      High Value - cheese, Happy Howies, freeze dried beef liver, hotdog
