Two schools of thought regarding immediate "refueling" after training. 1) refuel to enhance recovery. 2) no refueling to allow activity enduce autophagy to enhance cell replacement, remove damaged or unwanted cells. Would be an interesting subject matter.

What kind of recovery drink can I take if I am running for around an hour - an hour and 15mins on the trails. Any specific brands? Or should I just do the cheapo choc milk

Good question! I'm not sure what the small one is but the bigger ones at the back are Egyptian Geese. There may be a Guinea Fowl or two making cameo appearances on upcoming videos 🤣

Chocolate milk is awesome. Especially if you have little kids at home.
Personally I can't eat any big meal after a run.

Some people want to celebrate finishing a marathon drinking beer. This is a stupid mistake, the liver is in bad state after finishing a marathon during days.

You lost me when you said to take in Carbs post workout. If one is in nutritional Ketosis and burning Fat for Fuel Carbs are out of bounds! Even Ultra Marathoners are now Fueling with Fat. I'm aiming for less than 30 Grams of Carbs, 15oz of Protein, and the rest, 70% plus fat per day to reverse my Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome.

PS; There is no requirement for carbohydrates at all. If the Human body ever needs a few carbs then the liver will supply them by Gluconeogenesis.

Totally recommend as thats exactly what elite endurance athletes do while and after their training. Youre just weak if u cant run a sub 2:10 marathon without extra carb Intake. 🥲

@@progbass56 Are you listening to people like Sarah Hallberg? You can reverse diabetes on a high carb vegan diet too, and not end up with stage 4 lung cancer at 48 like Sarah Hallberg has. So sure, when you are running 50 miles at a time feel free to cut out the carbs. Until then, low carbs diets just make people double down on meat and cheese thinking they are eating a healthy diet. Until it puts them in the hospital with a heart attack.

First of all, I applaud you for realizing diet is critical part of lifestyle improvements. But I have to ask, are you an Ultra Marathoner? Probably not if you are trying to reverse diabetes and metabolic syndrome. I spent my 40's doing low carb diets and never broke a 7 minute mile. Yesterday at 53 I ran a 6:25 mile. I eat tons of brown rice, fruit and vegetables. Low carb diets not only do not fuel you properly for most runs, they increase overall mortality by 30 percent. Also, I weigh five lbs less than I ever did on a low carb diet.

@@murraysmith2596 Not now, but I hope to be in a couple years.
In 65, no land speed records for me.
Read the book "Endurance" it on audible. They are researching just when to eat carbs, such as the 2 weeks before an event.
Western States has be won by a low carb athlete a couple times in the last few years.
How great is it not to need to refuel during a race?!
