  • Jacques-Denis Thomelin was a French organist and composer who served as organist at St. Andre des Arts, Carmes de la Place Maubert, and St. Jacques-la-Boucherie in Paris. From 1685 until his death in 1693, he was one of four organists to King Louis XIV. Thomelin taught Francois Couperin and composed several works for organ, including the Prelude et Duo, Deuxieme Ton. For the Prelude, I use 8'4' Principal Stops, and for the Duo, 8'4' Flutes in the left hand, and a reduced cornet in the right hand. I perform this work on the historic Felgemaker Organ at Our Lady of Divine Providence-St. Casimir, Milwaukee.
