- This week Ashley shows off all the upgrades during a tour of our new camping rig - the 2020 Winnebago Micro Minnie 2100BH. We have named her Sandy :).
This is the third stop on our summer to remember camping road trip that took us to South Dakota, down through Nebraska to Lake McConaughy. We stayed at the Lone Eagle Campground which is a full hookup spot that we could reserve a few months in advance. Next visit I think we might boondock on the beach and just spend a night with hookups. We had a great afternoon out on the lake with renting a pontoon boat from Big Mac Marina.
Command strips, gorilla tape, and liquid nails are the important adhesives we used to make all these modifications stick. Very nice!! What model did you get? We are going through the decision process for these micro minnie's, and micro lites and geo pro's from forest river. These Winnebagos seem a bit more sturdy, but the geo pros's seem more off grid/off roadable out of the box. Have a great summer!
@@campingalan we looked closely at the GeoPro's too. One thing I really liked on those was the window on the bed/front cap. I think a lot of them come with an inverter which is nice too, although we realized when we are off-grid we will be using a generator when we need the 110 outlet stuff so it was less of a necessity for us. Outside of needing to add actual solar pannels with or an invertor - I think the Micro Minnie is pretty capable on any forest road, with the off-road package that is. Ours has more clearance than my truck. Hopefully, this is helpful - all 3 brands a great.

7:00 Pretty sure the plates are supposed to go the other way in the “pop-a-plate”, that’s why you couldn’t get it out.

We got 2 of each size a d they fit nicely in the dinette. But I know some of the dinettes are different sizes so check the measurements on yours to be safe.
We bought the new 2021 Micro Minnie 2100BH and it's basically identical to your own but trim is different. Also noticing the shortcomings of the Bathroom. Where did you end up getting that toilet paper holder. It looks like there perfect solution as I too am not wanting to put holes anywhere.

Nice video, can you do a video how did you mounted your video camera on top of your Winnebago camper
Thanks! For the video camera mount, we are just using a GoPro and sticky mount (the one that comes with your GoPro) and we mounted it to the top of the fiberglass cap, not on the actual roof membrane. One tip when mounting is to clean the camper surface really well with rubbing alcohol and then heat up the sticky part of the mount with a hair dryer for about 15 seconds to help it be more sticky.
How did you hang the lights in the boys bunks? I have only found the 32 foot roll! I appreciate any help you can give me! Love your videos!

Our lights go around each bunk twice and I was able to tuck them into these little clips each time around. 3 times might be hard to fit in one clip though.
Love your videos. I would like to know after 8+ months, how do you like your Zinus mattress?
Yes. We still really like it. It’s definitely on the firm side when it comes to mattresses but we don’t mind that and like the support it provides. But I know some people don’t like the firmness of it. And the cost to quality ratio can’t be beat.

How well does your F150 tow this RV? I have a 2014 F150 FX4 with a tow package rated to pull up to 7,700 lbs. and I'm considering this RV. I'd like to stay well under its rated capacity. Is this as big/heavy as you would go or would you be comfortable pulling something a little bigger/heavier? Thanks.
This particular truck is more than capable on this trailer. It’s a 3.5 EB engine with max tow so up to 12,000 something. The tricky thing is always taking a look at the payload and not going over on your rear axel.
Since we drive a lot of high altitude mountain passes this bit of extra power has been a welcomed upgrade over a Ford Explorer for us.
I think I’d feel fine pulling an extra 2-3 thousand pounds without flinching. I have timbrens I installed on the rear and that helps a little too.
This size rig with a half ton is pretty much an ideal setup with tons of overhead.
So are you satisfied with the battery capacity? Gas? Converter? Do these have an inverter? I can’t find any information on the Winnebago site concerning the electrical, etc.
For how we camp - which is mostly extended weekends, our 2 lead acid deep cycle batteries work out for us. But... we also generally travel with a generator so that is running at some point each day if we aren't at a hookup site (so we can run the microwave, AC etc...).
There is no invertor that it comes with - however the USB ports mostly work okay without being plugged in. The 2 biggest battery draws will be the furnace blower at night and the fridge. All the lights inside are LED and don't pull too much power.
First time seeing your video. Would you still buy or recommend a Winnebago Micro Minnie? How is the built quality? Good built, good quality?
I am looking at one - 2020/2021 1708BH. I want it small for off-roading/dispersed camping. I wish the bed is NOT sideway.
Thanks so much for watching Paul. So we have spend around 50 or so nights in this camper this summer and I'd still recommend it. The only other company we liked the vibe of is some of the Grand Design trailers that are a little larger. The size of this one is so perfect for state campgrounds though!
This coming Thursday we have a video coming out that talks about 5 things we don't love about it that you should check out.
Aside from what we talk about in that upcoming video - I can tell you what has broken so far if that helps? Maybe that will be in a future video. The most annoying thing has been our furnace. We had it stop working on us back in April and has just recently started acting up again. It's going in for service in late October to possibly have the logic board replaced (under warranty). I think a couple screws have popped loose that I was easily able to replace. We had the weather stripping in the front come loose on a hot day driving across South Dakota, but I was able to pop it back into the track and been good since. Finally a small section of the wall paper in the bunk area has started to come off. We are going to probably spray adhesive the corner back up this week. I think that's it though. It's driven a little over 4,000 miles and I can't wait to put the next 10 or 20,000 on her.
We’ve had our 1700bh for 3 years but I’m in “do-over” mode and want to add some more functional things and needed ideas, so thanks! The mattress - do you still like your Zinus after all this time, or have you upgraded? And do regular full sheets fit? I got us a mattress topper and it makes the sheets a tight fit. Also did you get the little shelf with hooks (for glasses by door) on Amazon? Maybe a link? 😁

It’s definitely more on the firm side when it comes to mattresses (which some people have complained about in other reviews), but we like the support it provides and we sleep well on it. And yes, regular full size sheets fit it perfectly.

How much was the boat rental, info please of prices of your trips campground too🤗
Thanks for asking Anita - the campsite at the lake was $37/night plus a booking fee for the full hookups. You can also boondock right on the beach for only a park entrance fee of about $8/night. The pontoon rental was about $150 for 2 hours plus tax and fuel. It was worth it for us for sure.

From all the videos and forums I see, it turns out Winnabego, particularely the 2100BH, is complete shit. I think all the owners should file a lawsuite and get every penny Winnabego has and shut them down.
