Skewer a piece of eel on the whiskers. Set it up at the base of a tree and it will literally jump out at the critter. Eel skin is very tough and will sometimes last the season.

Just a side note. In Colorado, the tree squirrels are big enough a 110 won't kill them about 1/2 the time when it trips. Watched a squirrel run around at the end of the chain that had been caught around the neck by the trap.. Trap caught the neck sideways so it wasn't restricting the airway. Had to kill him myself. Better option is a conibear 160, or a bridger 150 for squirrels out here.

Using shotgun shell is not great for 110's, i had 3 catch and 2 miss today, The jaws could not close because they catched the tip of the plastic tube. Good idea on paper but 40% missfire.
