The fact that you don't know who is subverting you/ you don't trust a source that tells you you're being subverted, creates division and distrust in itself - which also plays to Russia's favour. The dispute over whether Russia does it or not, is in itself divisive, which is exactly what they want. It's so "coincidental", that it could be concluded as intentional.
@Marydancer33 so, again, I reiterate that you two having a conflict with eachother now saying that "Russia is doing it", "No, China is doing it" is exactly the outcome that theoretically favours Russia - division of its opponents.
Why wouldn't you (Russia) want this as an outcome, when the former Soviet union had been trying to do this to the West in the past? There is no answer to that question, because actually Russia WOULD want this outcome.
The same goes for any debate as to whether Russia interferes or not - the very fact that there is a debate about whether this threat exists or not plays into the hands of Putin as it creates a divisive premise.

An important question that Yuri never got asked was what happens if the instigator of active measure and subversion collapses before the crisis phase takes hold.
These subversion tactics have been in play since the collapse of the soviets and has finally developed into what we have today. Problem is, the crisis phase relies on an outside power like the soviets to step in and assume control, thus "stabilizing" the region so to speak.
