    I disagree with JJ. If the item was stolen from the defendant's house then he should be responsible for it. He then has the burden of getting it back from his brother who stole it. JJ didn't want to make that judgement because she and her team would have to pay out. Love her show but she needs to be more consistent on her ruling.

    • @seashellesbelles7232
      @seashellesbelles7232 10 дней назад +11

      No, it’s not because the show would have to pay for it. Legally, he’s not responsible. A crime was committed and even though he knows and is related to the person and it took place in his house, that actually doesn’t make him legally responsible. I would have loved to see this guy have to pay too and I think so would JJ, but she has to follow the rule of law, even when she doesn’t like it. I hate that about this profession.

      Unfortunately without a witness or evidence, her saying that he said his brother stole it (which is often considered hearsay and something JJ usually says), there's not much JJ can do. If he told her that his brother took it, she should have reported it, not sue the defendant.

    • @seashellesbelles7232
      @seashellesbelles7232 10 дней назад

      @@jedimasters1462 It’s not hearsay when it’s a statement by a party opponent. The defendant is the one who told the plaintiff his brother stole it. That’s admissible. The problem is the plaintiff should have sued the brother, not the defendant. The plaintiff was operating under the misconception that the defendant would be liable because it happened when the watch was at his house. That’s not true because a crime was committed. If the brother was a minor under the defendant’s control, it would be a different story, that’s why she asked his age. A full-grown adult thief committed the crime so he is the one who has to be sued in order to recover damages under the law.

    I hope this mother realizes that a 13 year old kid doesn’t need an Apple Watch. Heck, zi almost 70 and I won’t buy one for myself! Mom is lucky some older kids didn’t jump him and steal it. By the way, did it not have “find my device” set up?

    I don't believe the defendant one second. Proven liar covering up for his thief of a brother.
    But I'm very confused as to why the plaintiff changed her story. If he told her that he brother stole the watch, why make such a show about "oh if he'd lost something at my house I would replace it"? She is probably telling the truth, I do believe she is, but she doesn't appear credible.

    Second case I’ve seen where parents get their young kids something very expensive that can be lost or stolen. Why on earth?! The last case was the $400 earrings! Similar scenario. I could get a new washing machine for that! Just about 😂🙄

    First she says in part one they are like family, friends for years,, now that she is losing suddenly she is saying the defendant whom she trusted to take care of her son over night, is a known thief. She is making crap up as she goes. Nor can Judy just order this defendant to turn his phone over to her. Sometimes she goes too far. What proof Judy? He didn't admit anything on tape. He said on this tape his brother had nothing to do with it, and her saying the opposite is hearsay. She has no case.
