The "sorry" stereotype of Canadians is actually so true. Personally I sometimes say sorry to inanimate objects that I bump into.

I never listened to podcasts before but I recently got into yours and I really enjoy it, plus it's something to do in between classes at university. I also say sorry very quickly too I can't stay mad for more than a day even if it isn't my fault I just don't hold grudges I also always say sorry to strangers too lol.

in college i had a professor who pointed out that women are much quicker to say im sorry than men. Especially in situations where an Im sorry wasn't necessary. For example when a female student raises their hand to ask a question they preface it with "i'm sorry". The gendered differences in the use of i'm sorry could be an interesting talking point
...or when you say sorry to inanimate objects you bump into. 😅🙋🏼

I have had someone like really bump into me one time and they said I'm sorry but I also said it too why no idea but I did when it was clearly them who like really bumped into me.

In the UK (especially the north) we apologise so much. When I moved south to London I realised how little people here apologised. If I now said sorry for each time a person knocked into me I wouldn't have time to catch a breath. I used to think it was so ignorant and rude but now I realised its completely not necessary in certain public situations, and thats ok. We need to spend our energy on more important things than apologies for normal everyday occurrences like walking into a half full lift... Like damn we're all entitled to the lift haha.
