Great footage! While it’s the big freighters that get all the glory, it’s often the tugs that have some serious history to them. The G-Tug Wisconsin (recently renamed Georgia) was built in 1897 and is still incredibly in operation.
Thanks Kevin for producing yet another first class, well done videeo. I really enjoyed learning about this most unique tug. I'm really happy they are keeping it updated and secure......to be enjoyed many years into the future.
Your videos are just fantastic. It keeps us up to date what's going around the bay. My wife been coming up there with her family every year or two since high school in the 80's to stay a week or two for vacation on the bay every summer/Fall. I finally came up for a vacation with them a couple years ago. I took about long detailed video of a tour inside the Purves. Been wanting to upload the footage.
I really needed this video to calm myself after a hectic weekend! Thank you for sharing the wonderful history of this mighty little ship! As I get older, I am drawn to the skill and importance these tugs are to the maritime world. Once again, beautiful cinematography, Colors and contrast are superb!
She’s impressive and beautiful with an interesting history. Thank you for sharing her story with us. Very moving scene as she exits the open bridge spans and heads up-river.
My grandson and I were privileged to tour the John Purves last summer.
My grandfather was John Purvis. Born in Scotland a few years before the tug was created.
She's a great looking ship, glad to know that it didn't go to scrap with such a long lifespan.
You with your pics & vids, and the people on the boats make it all look so easy. Thanks!! 👍

So nice of you
Kevin, you are fantastic.
Great to see and hear the history. Too bad she couldn’t have been powered up to move under own power. That really have been so cool.
Another wonderful video. Chad and I toured her a couple years ago - would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting the museum.
