  • A multiscale 7-string strat-shaped guitar with a high A string.
    / traqguitars
    In the video I talk a little about the story behind the guitar and demonstrate the tones possible with the 3x single coil system with series wiring.
    Guitar specs: pine(?) salvage body, (mostly) ovangkol neck section (almost) thru body. Merlin "classic strat" pickups. Blue swirl finish.

    What a nice guitar . I think, with a reverse headstock the guitar would look better with the fanned frets .

    Kurcze nie wiedziałem, że ktokolwiek też łączył szerefowo single. 25 lat temu miałem tak w swojej dwa połączone i myślałem, że nikt na świecie tak nie robił. To ci Brian no.. :)))

    • @traqq
      @traqq 3 года назад +1

      hehe. no z jakiegoś powodu to dość rzadki wariant, choć nie tak strasznie. Chyba np telecaster model Ritchie Kotzen ma przełączanie szeregowo/równolegle dla swoich dwóch pickupów

    You are a genius! I wonder how would i wire my strat to get that mod and also wonder about that High A String sounds in a solo: im sure it would be really interesting to have higher notes without adding extra frets thats a great idea! Congrats for your authentic axe and thanks for that video!

    • @TraqGuitars
      @TraqGuitars  6 лет назад +1

      thanks man :) it's totally possible to rewire a strat like this, though you'd need to replace the blade switch with three DPDT switches. The A string .. the main thing that it does is confusing my finger memory since all the patterns look different now.. :P

    • @juantafakya
      @juantafakya 6 лет назад

      Yeah im pretty sure is a new challenge to be learn and a lot more expressiveness for your fingers to explore

    Świetna gitara, jestem pod mega wrażeniem. Czy te ułożenie progów ma jakieś znaczenie w brzmieniu gitary czy ją jakoś przestraja czy to tylko chodzi o estetykę? Pozdrawiam! ;)

    • @TraqGuitars
      @TraqGuitars  6 лет назад

      dzięki :) z progami chodzi o to, żeby cieńsze struny były krótsze. Z jednej strony ma to brzmieć lepiej (rzekomo, nie sprawdziłem tego dokładnie, ale przykładem jest np fortepian) a z drugiej strony w tej konkretnie gitarze mam wysoką strunę strojoną aż do A więc chciałem ją maksymalnie skrócić żeby to w ogóle było możliwe (teoretycznie możnaby wziąc jakąś super-cienką strunę, ale struny typu .007 pękają prawie od razu...)

    Can you build a custom 7-String?

  • @Kyocera234

    Hi, beautiful guitar, I had a hard time focusing on the neck, my brain tried to tell me it was warped at first, what is the type of bridge set up I am building a string thru strat.

    • @traqq
      @traqq 4 года назад

      thanks! yea, the fanned frets do look funny. This bridge is actually a set of individual string saddles screwed to the body. The ones I have were made by ABM, I think Hipshot also makes something similar.

    Cool way you count yourself off to (I'm guessing) get a sync for a fill in backing track that you later overdub. I'm going to have to steal that trick :)

    • @TraqGuitars
      @TraqGuitars  Год назад

      hah thanks, I'm not sure what I was doing here exactly, I might even have a click running in the earbuds, but not sure. Maybe I did as you say, just overdubbed the backing to the tempo I count in :) I did the click trick on one (or both) of the videos about the Bohemian Rhapsody solo to have everything sync up

    Haha you have built the exact guitar i wanted to build next but with a set in type construction.Not only that but you gave it a killer finish too.If you dont mind me asking what is the width at the nut and the heel of the neck?seems rather slim for a 7 string.Excellent stuff my friend.

    • @TraqGuitars
      @TraqGuitars  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks! Just checked my blueprint. so the total spacing at the bridge is 59mm (at the point where the high string ends) and 39mm at the nut. Having said that, if I was building it again I'd change the fan to have the perpendicular fret higher up, somewhere around 10-12 maybe

      @@Dreamdancer11 yea once I learn to play it... the extra high string is messing up all my muscle memory.. I'm considering tuning it like a 7-string 4th up instead of 6-string with an extra A string :)

    Do you know of a pick that I could fit into my esp h207, 7 strings that I could put into the neck position that would mimck as close as possible the strat sound of the neck/middle position sound?

    • @traqq
      @traqq 4 года назад +1

      If I understand correctly what your goal is, that's probably not possible. You cannot in a simple way emulate a combination of pickups with one pickup, because that combination is sampling the string vibration at different points and combining these. This creates a unique pattern of overtones being amplified and attenuated, that gives the pickup combination it's characteristic "sound". As it's the harmonic overtones that are affected, you can't imitate that by swapping out pickups - that acts more like EQ, just boosting or cutting some frequencies, irrespective of the actual note being played.

    A clear pickguard would be great on this guitar. To show off more of the paint.

      I thought so too and in fact I tried that first but didn't like it. Somehow the black balances the design better to me. But I still have the clear one, might swap one day for a change, maybe it'll grow on me :)

    Alien single bridges????? I'm sorry I didn't understand what bridge that is. Looks cool.

    • @TraqGuitars
      @TraqGuitars  5 лет назад +1

      ABM :) It's a brand, they make high quality guitar hardware. And in particular they make these "single bridges" where you bold each saddle individually to the guitar, so string spacing, scale length etc are entirely up to the builder
