mariah carey is a legend. that's true. but i think that she made nicki feel very uncomfortable and unwelcomed on this show. in my opinion mariah acted kind of childish really, like talking behind their back and getting mad that there's another woman on this panel. i totally understand nicki's reaction to mariah's behaviour and this whole gun story is loads of bullshit. oh someone overheard blabla. really? this makes mariah look really stupid and not lady like at all and really mean. team nicki

Okay, so what I don’t get is how many people say Nicki was a noob basically had no status or even talent. I disagree with that completely. She has just as much talent as Mariah, and I don’t think seniority should play a role into the way that things were handled. We all know Nicki is pretty out there, loud and proud. Just let her do her thing and stop trying to change her. That was Mariah’s problem. Not Nicki’s. And sure, cohosts have disagreements all the time, but I feel as soon as Mariah found out Nicki was in the picture she already went in with low expectations. Not fair to call Nicki out on her uncouth behavior alone without seeing both sides. I highly doubt Nicki said anything threatening like that. That gun talk was BS.

Nicki had her turn to talk. She was interrupting Mariah when she was using HER time to share her professional opinion as a SINGER with the constatation on stage.
If their is proof niki said she would shoot Mariah if she had a gun that is intimidation, automatic reason to be fired on the spot. These days you have to take that seriously. I do think if several staff members heard her say that then Nikki should have been let go that day. If any of us at our jobs told our coworkers we want to shoot another coworker we would be fired

MARIAH did not get mad because Nicki was placed on American Idol it started with a contestant who sang a country song, but with a trying hard country accent. Keith and Mariah's opinion about not to sticking with the country thing kinda offended slightly the contestant, so Nicki tried to defend that contestant. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, Mimi as a singing professional if I knew I did wrong I would take her advice. Nicki on the other hand tries to shows that she is a better person or what they say singer, by cutting of the other judges when she disagrees on what they'll advice.
Check again sweetheart the producers came out and said Nicki wasn’t the problem.

You shouldn't have to have singing experience to know good singing when you hear it. That's like saying you have to have cooking experience to know what good food tastes like.

***** No but a good singer can give real good judgment calls on another singer because they understand what its like to be a singer. Nicki was too worried about their style and being stupid. That helps no one on this types of shows.
Marvinglz Nicki is a singer also. She sings in some of her songs. Just look up "Right by my Side". And before you say "autotune autotune" look up her live performance. She wasn't that bad and you could tell she was actually singing.
As for "style is stupid" - Your physical appearance and your singing style matters a lot more than you think it does. You could be an amazing singer but if you're dressed like you just put something together (terribly) in a junkyard nobody is going to take you seriously. In addition, dressing a certain way can actually impact your career a lot and make people more familiar with you. Think Lady Gaga.
As for singing style, singing blandly without your own personal style isn't a good thing either. It's actually worse. If you sing without style you're not going to get anywhere because you could sound exactly the same as really anyone. Nicki's advice about style is actually useful more making it in the *long* *run*.

This is music not a circus! That's why I admire people like Sia, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding, and Ed Sheeran! These artist are real and they honed in on their craft, they study, they learn, and everything else comes secondary. But when your image is in the forefront of your artistry your 15 mins of fame will flicker off sooner than later. Nicki's time is almost up! She has nothing real to offer! How can u sit on the judges panel on AI and literally tell them to "have passion" and "sing from the heart" when she doesn't even have that same passion for what she does? I'm sorry but I disagree completely with what you are saying. If you have true great talent thats what people are going to see and love you for everything else will fall into place. Otherwise you are just a attention seeking whore who does things for the shock value and the money with nothing substantial to offer as a music artists.
Marvinglz To be honest, to make it in the music industry isn't *just* about how well you sing. I realize how it sounds but its the truth. Some people can't take it, and people that want to go into the music industry with your type of thinking most of the time never make it. It's politics. All of it. Just singing well doesn't really get you places. You're evaluated by everyone based on every single thing you do. Every word you speak, every dress you wear, every shoe you wear, every person you date, every word you say on social media, all of your responses in interviews - people look into it, read into it, and its the truth. Why do you think there are articles on what certain celebrities wore to the Grammys? It all matters. I don't see how having style in your voice is superficial. How do you know the difference between Rihanna's singing and Beyonce's? They have different styles of singing. If you're not able to identify a singer by their singing voice (with the assumption you've heard them sing before), its' because they don't have their own signature style when they sing causing to sound like... well... anyone.
Only the people that realize all of this and deal with it accordingly make it in the music business. It's hard. Most people don't want to hear that though. They think if they can sing like an angel they're going places not realizing that there are thousands of people that sing just as well if not better. Take American Idol for example. The contestants always have little bits where they say how long they've been singing or why they want to win. "I've been singing since I was little and everyone told me I sing beautifully and I decided I want to make a career out of it!" That's pretty much what all 25 or so of the contestants say when there is only one winner. 24 dreams crushed because they didn't think about the other aspects of being a *successful* singer.
It's like applying to a high end college. There are millions of applicants that have the same exact scholarly achievements as you. The question that the admission officers ask is, "What more do you have to offer?" Same with the music industry. There can be a girl who can sing like a bird, but if there's *prettier* girl who sings just as well or better: guess who's going to get contracted. The music industry is even a lot worse than colleges because colleges can accept hundreds of thousands of people. Not everybody makes it in the music industry. Some people are successful and some people just aren't. Music industry is *way* more picky.
Disagree if you want, but it's the truth.

Why can’t two women just get along ? A better way of approaching it would have been to use some intelligence to talk about any differences and just get along at least for the purpose of the show. That would have sent a powerful message across the word when we are living in times where peace is rare and conflicts anger the more prevalent.

ItsStephyy Babyy Simon wasn't a singer, and everybody was fine with him judging. Randy couldn't sing as well. As long as you are in the music industry and you have experience, you are qualified to judge. Plus, Nicki's advice was a lot more credible than that of Mariah on the show. I don't know if you watched or not, but Mariah was a horrible judge.
