      Understatement of the year!! I swear, it seems like when calling in a more SERIOUS & DIRE situation - the more IGNORANT, CONDESCENDING, and DEAF they become; all while making the caller seem like an unhinged/drugged LUNATIC/MORON who needs to be 51-50ed! And they almost NEVER take accountability for their own mistakes, actions - or INACTIONS, in most cases - and blaming EVERYONE & THING else for THEIR neglectful, callous, dismissive and/or degrading conduct and EXPECT to be treated like a victim themselves!💯💯🙄🤦‍♀️🤬🖕🏻

    Bruce was in shock. He was outraged that he had tried to figure this out and now his wife is gone. He’s mad his son was in the house. He’s mad his wife is dead. I think it sounded like a man trying to process his feelings. Women cry. Women get hysterical. Then they get mad. Men often get mad right away. A babysitter once lost my two year old and we THOUGHT she’d been hit by a car. The first thing my husband did was punch the ceiling of our car. He’s not violent but thinking his baby got hurt brought that out in him immediately. We can’t judge how someone deals with the worst moment of their lives.

    I know my comment is only one among hundreds and probably too long to read…
    I had also heard this case covered by Mr. Ballen’s channel a while back and it makes me appreciate the different methods of story-telling you 2 have.
    When he told it, it focused on the mystery of all the events surrounding the family, so you didn’t know if it was going to be a ghost story, tale of a crazy stalker, an unsolved mystery or have some kind of M.Knight Shamalan twist.
    This channel clearly goes over the timeline, evidence, interrogations, work of law enforcement and how they all came together to solve the case in the end. You have a gift for showing the humanity behind a tragic event that I appreciate. Thank you.
    On the topic of humanity, I have seen some comment here that the family seemed unaffected/unemotional after Mel’s death. As someone who has experienced the death of a loved one, I can tell you that there is no way to predict how you will act in the aftermath. At first, I was in denial, even though I “felt” that it was going to happen soon. I just couldn’t fully accept it. At other times, I was angry at everyone and the injustice of it all, and at other times I was like a stone. I felt like all my emotions were getting buried in the ground with them and that I would never feel anything again. Sometimes, people don’t act perfectly how we think they should act when something happens, especially when they are so close to it. We should grant people a little more grace and accept that not everyone will display perfect sadness or grief in the same way. 💕

      @9babyblu 7 месяцев назад +19

      No, she was being told a bunch of stuff and when he said the address, she was trying to find out if there was a break in because the dogs were found and lived at that address. 911 job is to gather as much info as possible.

    • @x77punk77x
      @x77punk77x 7 месяцев назад +1

      For a homicide especially, personnel try to assimilate and reasonably, tentatively contextualize information exactly like the family dog having been loose.
      In this case, even if the dog didn’t behave in an alarm-raising fashion upon Scullin’s entry, the animal may have either sounded off loudly enough for neighbors or passersby by to hear and/or directly attacked Scullin once the man started stabbing and struggling with Melinda.
      What a horrid p.o.s. to end up with as a son-in-law.

    I've seen this story before but I listened to you tell it again. One thing that breaks my heart about this whole thing is Kyle. 🥺💔😥 He was in the house when this POC murdered his mom and he left him there. 😱 And we'll never know how that affected him. Plus we do know how her loss affected Kyle moving forward. The profound loss that poor boy experienced is tragic. So tragic. What a depraved demented sicko Jeff was/is to do that. To do everything he did to a family who cared for him....took him into their home. Disgusting!
    A while back I happened to come across Bruce's Facebook page and I scrolled through it. I was very happy to see how Bruce and Kyle are total buddies now and do so much together and they've moved on in a powerful way. Bruce has a new girlfriend who also seems to have a wonderful relationship with Kyle. This is such a terrible situation. What could have possibly provoked Jeff to act out in such a disturbing way. He was a narcissist compulsive liar always trying to build himself up but was actually a loser. There are too many men who are passive and manipulative and losers these days. Instead of being the provider and protector of their family they are completely the opposite. Masculinity isn't toxic....what happens to a society when men stop being masculine is toxic.
    Prayers for this family and what they endured. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

    It's so wild. So, they wanted Jeff to fund his wedding up to $6500. He didn't, so Mel provided the $6500, even though they agreed to cover everything after Jeff paid $6500 first.
    Then, Jeff's mother, in appreciation for Mel's generosity, decides to pay her back. Why couldn't Jeff ask his mom in the first place?
    It seems like his parents are very much aware of how he was, and may have been happy that they didn't have to deal with his money, grubby, lazy ways. It is very telling that his mom didn't trust handing him the money to pay back Mel.

    1:23:33 When describing picking up the gun from his dad at the hospital, (1:03:35) he says “I cleared the weapon… so there was nothing in the chamber… Then I ejected the magazine.” If he “cleared” it prior to ejecting the magazine, he basically just ejected one round and loaded another single round before he removed the magazine, which could’ve been an attempt to preemptively set up the narrative that he “didn’t know the gun was loaded.” Edit 1:24:32 must not have been the same gun because you don’t “clear the chamber and eject the magazine” with a revolver…

    The reason why Jeffrey committed this crime is so pathetic. I did research on Sociopathy and Psychopathy and found that Sociopaths act instantaneously while Psychopaths make plans for their actions. Therefore, I would say that Jeffrey is a Psychopath. He's born a killer and should be jailed for the rest of his natural life if there's no Death Penalty.

    Mr. Ballen covered this a couple years ago and did a really great job of building tension and not revealing who was messing with the family (the case wasn't super well known at the time) and he reveals it at the end and it was kinda shocking - if you watch Bruce, Anna and Megan's entire interviews with police after the murder none of them really suspected Jeff at all and certainly not of murder (up until that point). Thats my interpretation anyway.

    All those questions about who they are, where they are stabbed??? She even told this gentleman to step outside the house before she asked if he knew CPR?!
    I get that you need to protect a crimescene, but the number one thing should be trying to save a life.
    I live in Denmark. The dispatcher here will always try to help you perform any kind of medical assistant/CPR before bombarding you with questions about if there are signs of break in or if theres a weapon laying somewhere..
