Okay so i forgot to clarify this because it was so obvious in my head. I’m from europe so when i said i was gonna film and edit on friday for you american viewers out there that would mean the reaction is going up friday morning. Basically whatever time it is for you right now around this time next friday is when my finale reaction goes up. At least that is the plan.
I wont lie i actually loved this episode. Its 100% every typical night out in a club. Too much drink, too cocky, a hook up, a break up, a fight. Once everyone sobers up and talks it out itll be fine
To be fair, I don't hink Stede lost it. He hated his life most of the time, an finally, when he's middle-aged already, his dreams are coming true, he gets the recgonition as a pirate he always wanted and is becoming truly satisfied in his life... And than a person who is part of that happiness tells him he's leaving to become a fisherman and now he's truly thinking that Ned was right and Ed only liked this soft version of him. I mean--- he's strong as fuck, I would've break down right away.
Everyone is leaving Stede 😭 My poor Stede. Wouldn't that be something if Izzy was the only one staying with Stede during his break up? It wouldn't be too surprising, Izzy is a very loyal person
I am so invested in these characters - so massively, profoundly invested - that I am literally in tears just thinking about what might happen in the final episode. I CANNOT HANDLE THIS. I have tried to explain this phenomenon to people I know who have not watched the show, and they all think I'm insane. Nothing in the course of my entire life could have prepared me for this show.
There’s a lot of negativity online about these eps (which id avoid honestly if possible!) and I feel like this reaction healed my soul again :) so thank you!!
The negativity is really getting to me. I don't care if some people didn't like where the story went - they were good, solid episodes. The tonal shift was a little abrupt, but they were well-written and acted and made sense from a narrative standpoint. Besides, the seventh episode was actually really funny (notwithstanding the breakup plotline, of course). Yes, Max SUCKS and did them a huge disservice with the smaller budget and shorter season, but they're doing a great job with what they were given. So many people cared so much and worked so hard to give us this.
@@natsinthebelfry It’s unfortunate! I think it’s okay to criticize something, but twitter people have taken it a little too far (which is unsurprising). I don’t use twitter, but I downloaded it just to look at what people thought about the recent episodes because I had some minor criticisms, and was just met with soooo much negativity.
i feel like olu and zheng could have been interesting, but they didn't take enough time to establish the relationship and make it feel earned. it just feels kinda weird and out-of-the-blue for that reason. thanks, HBO for only giving them 8 episodes to work with this season 😑
My take on this has ALWAYS been - neither has much experience in the area of romantic relationships. They both have preconceived ideas that they aren't telling each other. Stede probably got his from books, hence why it's unrealistic. Ed got his from past experiences, meaning he seems to believe he's only good for sex. That's what he's learned. And it's really heartbreaking. Personally I don't think they should've hooked up. I understand for plot reasons but it just made things so much worse 😢
i mean i think once ed realizes that most of the ships in the harbor have blown up and stede and the rest of his friends could be dead, i don't think he's going to peace out on a fishing boat and forget about them...
Ed and Stede are alike in that they both don't know how to get over romantic breakups without resorting to violence. In Stede's defense, the guy only has his crew at this point. Ed left him, he can no longer return to his family, he has no house or lands, Buttons became a bird and the Swede stayed with Jackie. He couldn't lose any more people. And yes, he burned a man, but it's also a tv show where everyone has murdered. A show that talks about human feelings, but makes humor with death. And yes, Ed will be back.
I also thought the finale might end with a beach reunion the way the first episode started. But if that also means that Izzy's gonna die on that beach, I don't want it! 😢
SHUT UP!!! This is what I have thought since the START of the whole SEASON!!!! Yes, I am shouting into a void at a stranger. I just can't stand it!!! I will cry my fucking heart out if Izzy dies. I can't handle any of this.
I did see the Olu/Zheng thing happening. It's clear that there is a Jim-Archie-Olu thing going on, but that doesn't mean Olu can't also get with Zheng. It's a very polyamorous vibe that they're giving off with them.
Predictions: So, from the trailer and teaser, the scenes we haven't seen are those fighting the navy in the jungle and on the beach and ed emerging in leathers from the ocean. So big battle and ed fishing up his leathers to come to the rescue. I think that l, if pirate queen is still alive she, and either way the whole republic of pirates, including Swede and Spanish Jackie will come together to fight for pirate rights.
The only good thing about this is that its not as painful as GO s2 ending, especially when there’s one last episode next week. Oh god… 😖 Izzy, please be my (surprisingly) stability!
"Thanks I hate it" was exactly my reaction. I watched all of 2.6 and through the leaving scene in 2.7 before work on Thursday, was sad all day, and was sadder still when I got home and saw the ending. It's not dramatic like what occasioned Stede running away in 1.9: it's very real. Couples go through this. Some of them come out the other side intact and others don't. I keep telling myself, This is a rom com. DJenks actually likes the audience. Stede picking a fight with Zheng Yi Sao is self-harm (maybe not as extreme as Ed trying to goad the crew into killing him at the beginning of the season, but in the same neighborhood). Things I liked about this episode: How happy Ed looked seeing the fish at the market stall (the kind of hearteyes we've seen him have for Stede, but here he is having hearteyes at the prospect of doing work that won't hurt his soul). How glorious Ed's hair was in the morning when he was throwing out his old gear. The screenshot someone took of Stede's rings on the windowsill. Stede gleefully saying "we didn't pay!" The Swede's glow-up. Fang and Roach's spa day.
The unfortunate thing is that there was allegedly supposed to be more of a polyamory storyline with Archie/Jim/Olu/Zheng that the studio made them cut. Studio meddling was also why the episodes were shorter this season.
Thank you for uploading so quickly! I don’t know anyone who watches the show and my misery needed company 💔 This episode gave me whiplash and I’M IN PAIN! Here's hoping for a beautiful (and long!) finale!
I really loved Ed and Stede together but Ed is making the shipping really hard, because Ed has sooo many redflags 😅 Izzy is right, Ed is a complicated man 😅😅
@ericamacs3875 I think he is trying to be more like Ed. Remember when in season 1 he said "technically fire killed those guys". Edward doesn't consider it killing when you use fire, I think that's why Stede set him on fire. But eventually this will hit him hard and the guilt will be a lot. I hope he'll have someone to help him through it
@@winchesterfamilyforever Oh yes I forgot that. I do feel Stede is almost too nice to Ed, he almost never challenges him about anything. Telling him he was a coward was a good sign really.
I think right now Ed Is in way over his head. Since last season we knew he didn't want to be a pirate anymore and now stede is peaking and he doesn't know how their relationship is gonna go from there. He now wants a calm life, and stede is in the middle of growing as a pirate, seems like their goals don't match up right now :( and stede calling him a coward? B**** please this man has fone through a lot, it felt like stede didn't really know Ed this episode :( and yes, oluwande/Zheng made me sad cause Jim/oluwande seemed so deep and true last season... Even with Archie in the picture I was a bit sad, but the fact that everyone is leaving Stede really hurts :((((
I still think the thruple is where they're heading. The way Zheng said that "I missed the break in my day" line at 13:42 sounded to me like her using-the-fact-that-she's-underestimated-to-manipulate-people tone. I think she's playing him. Don't love that for Olu, but love that for our thruple hopes!
This season has been exceptional. I'm honestly very concerned about Izzy, they're doing something very typical, redeeming a character that we used to hate to a point where we love him and usually they end up killing them, I truly hope I'm wrong, I also hope that Ed ends up saving Izzy for once, I think Stede can save himself and Izzy needs more than the half-ass apology Ed gave him. I'm very conflicted with Stede and Ed because I support both of them, Ed wants and deserves to retired and have a calm life, meanwhile Stede has fought for the recognition he is getting, I love them so much and as Izzy said, I think they are perfect for each other but I'm not sure how they're going to make it right now, when both of them want different futures... is the usual "right person wrong time" type of deal that breaks my heart.
I've love watching your reactions to this show almost as much as I enjoy watching the show itself! Especially for this episode, it was really interesting to hear your thoughts, because I have a lot of mixed feelings about it 🙃
tbh nah i didnt think olu and zheng would be endgame, its really cute but i also was really rooting for the thruple with jim and archie but i cant deny that olu and zheng have rly good on screen chemistry so idk im interested to see where it goes, what if we just get olu/jim/archie/zheng polycule endgame could you imagine....
At the end. When Zheng told Jim they can't see olu anymore I think Jim felt regret instantly... Maybe a feud next season between Jim and Zheng and olu ultimately has to choose and Jim realises he can't have his cake and eat it too type of dilemma
I just would like to see Ed and Stede being a bit more grown up TBH, even all the taking it slow stuff, I'm not buying it but of course it's the writer's choice, I just wish they wouldn't make it such a big deal and just be a bit more casual and matter of fact, the way the other couples in the show are. They're both middle aged guys after all. You can kind of imagine people being arseholes when they become famous, but I hope that this ending of him being beaten up like this, IDK maybe he will realise he was being a dick. Ed also though, stop panicking. Maybe Izzy can talk sense into him.. If he's survived.. (let's hope there are no character deaths from this cannon ball..)
See, this is what I meant with my comment under previous episode. Stede killed someone again, and this time there was no reason, at all. In the past he'd try to talk his way out of a situation like that, but here he's just immediately in killing mode. I'm glad the characters (Ed) acknowledged it, but there's only one episode left and unless the finale is 60+ minutes long there's not much time to address Stede's "descent". I love this show and this worries me.
I think Stede will get back on track when he has to help his crew survive. It's understandable why Stede lost his mind. Ned did the things that Stede hates the most: He hurt his loved ones and ridiculed him and Ed. He burned the drunk (we don't know if he really died) because he let himself be carried away by something he has received very rarely: admiration and respect. Let us remember that in his town the only times they respected him was when he showed himself to be a violent man. His crew wanted to kill him when they saw him weak. And the drunk would have possibly tried to kill him. In any case, this is a TV show that talks about human feelings, but makes humor with violent deaths. I see the drunk thing in that line.
@@liol3409 I agree with some of your points, but it still doesn't alleviate my concerns. There is so little time left and I feel like some of the things this season were unnecessary and there's too much going on to resolve well in 8 short episodes.
