It's not about equality; it's about "revenge"
...because dictators only acknowledge themself and their ilk.
It's about giving minority groups an opportunity in an industry dominated by the majority. That's diversity.
Most people only know what they've been told, and apparently no one has bothered to explain what's wrong with this movie's values and the choices its producers made. "I do not need a forty-year-old white dude to tell me what didn't work for him in 'A Wrinkle in Time'. it wasn't made for him." -- The statement from an ignorant fool. There are well-made movies and badly-made movies, and a film critic knows the difference. Larson thinks it's all about personal feelings. The rest of us--the English teachers, the editors, the librarians, the film analysts, and the thinking public know that there are standards that good movies meet, and their job is to tell you whether the movie met those standards. It has nothing to do with personal feelings, "what worked for me," unless you're an egomaniacal schoolchild who was never required to write anything more sophisticated about a book than, "I liked this book very much," which sadly is most of today's schoolchildren and ALL of today's knee-jerk feminists.
Disney hired this witch, and put her on their soapbox, telling her to make herself controversial. She complied, and in the process insulted every man in the country. She's welcome to her ignorant and uneducated opinions (well, not really), but Hollywood seems to think that they can offend all of us as much as possible and never suffer from it. As a thinking woman, I refuse to pay Disney to throw their man-hating propaganda in our faces. Get out of your feminist resonating chamber and go read a book, one with actual information that will make your mind expand for the better. Go read Christina Hoff Sommers's "The War Against Boys" and get your uninformed mind out of that bimbo-hole you've been living in since you quit your homeschooling at age six. It shows.

Christian Bale has had enough of “white guys” running everything in Hollywood and beyond. The actor stopped by AOL Build with his “Hostiles” co-star Rosamund Pike and Wes Studi on December 18 and told the crowd that the reason he moved to the U.S. in the first place was because he wanted his kids to grow up in a “country of inclusion.” Unfortunately, that ideal hasn’t been too much of a reality.
@@mikedropp5098I don't understand people like that. The US hasn't been a country of inclusion. No country is. There is an in group and an outgroup like everything in the world. What we need to do is instead allow opportunities so those in the out group can share their experiences and make what they want. Too long hollywood has dominated the US movie and show market, I would like to see a world where the US has multiple media centers, tech centers, and etc. This way, other individuals have more freedom to do what they want and not be forced to follow what others do, whether its following agendas or just trends. @@fasttrack2612 so I just rewatched the movie since everyone is still dumping on it like it's the worst thing since Nazis. First off, I specifically was asking Tropical Spartan's opinion. He opted not to respond. Second, can you be more specific on how it tried to shove the feminist aspect down our throats? Cuz what I just watched was a regular Marvel comics movie that just features a larger than normal female cast and a female lead. I did see a couple small moments, like "you know why they call it COCKpit", which really is more a stab at douchey guys(which the film has very few of considering the number of legitimately good men in the cast, nevermind the movie opens by thanking a man), but all in all, it seemed just like a female led movie that for some reason people are still pissing themselves angry over. If you're really upset about society being toxic toward men, maybe look into what's messed up about normalized infant circumcision.
Iron Man is great because Tony Stark's character arc was great. Stark was a narcissistic shitbag that was taken prisoner and placed in a cave, (Stark was figuratively dead and buried). It was there, (in hell), that Yinsin gave Stark a new life with compassion and humanity. Tony Stark did not merely emerge from the cave in an Iron Man suit. Stark rose from the grave, reborn, with a new body and consumed the wicked with the Fire of Judgement. . . And that's just the first act.
Carol Danvers had an engine explode beside her and now she's Captain Marvel. Pffft.
NDS Thor was born the God of Thunder and even he had to do something to earn it. Scarlett Witch was given her power but she realized that she was siding with the bad guys and became a hero. Captain Marvel was just hit by an explosion.
I also like how Tony is a self-made man. Even before he became Iron Man he was a hard worker, and nearly everything he did was the result of his own hard work and dedication.
More of that: i heard people say "Hey, it's what happened with hulk! You have no problems with hulk! You sexist..." Well, sure hulk had all the power from beginning. His struggle was to control them. It could have been a great arc for CM and Rey of Star Wars too, but hey, why use the brain when there's noone (as they think) able to appreciate it?
@@kregorovillupo3625 The Hulk's story arc wasn't about how much 'power' he has -he's Hulk, he's given the pimp hand to Thor and has destroyed worlds. As you said, it's more about the inter-personal drama of coming to terms with what he is, how to direct it and what to do. Which the films, in my opinion, failed to quite grasp, devolving into action flicks. I might not be speaking for all, but I wanted more Banner in my Hulk movies. Besides, the Hulk never tried said "Hulk is Strongest, Women are weakest" like CM did.
Stark also started as an absolute sexist a-hole piece of crap...but as time went on, especially in Infinity War and Endgame he matured into a much better and more mature man, and it was well done.

Really there are several factors at work here. First many of the original Captain Marvel's (Shazam!)fans resent the fact that Marvel took his name away from him . The fact that his movie is coming out close to the same time hurts also. Second, this isn't even Marvel's original Captain Marvel. Nathan Jora All you have to do is sell the property that you did poorly with to someone who will fuck it up even more.
CMDR_Kai You can also do that I guess.
But personally I’d just do like the Maker, and create good films, and if their qualities get woefully under estimated or even ignored because of a handful of ultimately irrelevant points that people have difficulties overlooking, I’ll fight tirelessly for years to keep improving the universe these movies were a part of, trying to make it as coherent and enjoyable as possible, then give the license to probably trustworthy people for said license to keep on living despite my own old age, and laugh my ass off once it becomes apparent that 1) I made an error of judgement when I thought these people to be trustworthy, 2) the sell was still worth it because my good movies are now recognized because people can finally realize that they are the fruits of honest efforts and that the minor points that got them away from these movies really are irrelevant.
TL;DR Lucas didn’t do a poor job with his property, especially when you remember that managing his property wasn’t merely directing movies (which he did well anyway), far from it.

@@sarahmccrystal7313 this is so true. I used to drag my girlfriend to every superhero movie. She enjoyed some(Infinity saga, Ragnarok etc), barely tolerated others(like iron man3). But this captain marvel was one that actually annoyed her. Coming out of the hall she was like, I don't know what guys enjoy about films like these, just don't drag me shit like this in future.
@@conscireshooter I found it kinda boring ngl. And it was promoted as "yay, finally a female superhero film", but I think it'll end up making peeps dismiss all future films out of hand, due to the hype that didn't live up to expectation.
Which is frustrating
I have enjoyed pretty much all Marvel movies. Heck, I found a way to enjoy Iron Man 3 and Thor 2. But I was legitimately bored with this movie. I'm a girl. I love to see strong female characters. But this movie just focused so much on that part that it completely lost all of it's life. It's OKAY for women to not be perfect at everything, because we aren't. It would have been good to see her have a true problem to combat, but the entire movie there was really no reason to be worried. Brie Larson's acting was so hollow. She's a good actor. You see zero of that here. --- I guess to sum it up...It's the one movie I have in my collection just to complete it. I'll probably never watch it again, and it's probably the only character I'm not excited about seeing in sequels.
The only way I watch the movie is watching MauLer’s breakdown. It’s about as long and it’s way better and it’s smart and comedic.
I liked Thor 2 🥺😢😭
I'm a liberal feminist that kind of enjoyed the movie because I binged the entire MCU in order when COVID started, so it was like that "okay" episode of a great tv show. Yet it even got worse when she's in the future movies. She's so overpowered, it invalidates the presence of the other characters so she has to be... "busy"? Plus I'm a 90s kid that likes 90s culture, but the boss fight to "Just a Girl" by No Doubt? Really? That was about as subtle as an anvil drop. I liked her close relationship to the other pilot, but it even could have been fixed a bit by having her come to a realization, not as a supergod, but that she'd been brainwashed into being a mass murderer to an innocent species. She got over that little detail in a matter of minutes. Plus yeah, we have Anakin/Rey/New Mulan syndrome. Plus, while I"m not in the camp of "no white men have ever done anything bad", falling down during a baseball game (which I've done) is hardly something where suddenly boys are piling on. Most of the "you got this girl foibles" were merely her getting up after falling, something that people are supposed to do if you don't have an active head injury. No men were keeping her down on the ground; she just had vertigo or something.
Yes
The most action I got from this movie was fighting to stay awake...
I'm rewatching "Buffy the vampire slayer" on Stan at the moment, it is a fantastic example of a strong female character done right. She relies on her male friends she doesn't berate them, she's not perfect and she knows it!
Love this show.
And she's so cute it's against the law ❤️❤️❤️

@@Beowulf_DW Watch it if you want but I recommend you see some reviews of the movie to understand what you are about to pay for. If you like what you hear go ahead, but if not you are another person who wasted their money on a crappy movie. She is not necessary, nice, heroic or inspiring and her whole movie is a simple message MEN ARE BAD, DUMB AND SEXIST AND WOMEN CAN DO ANYTHING.
But I believe in choice, so you decide.
Yep, they showed me how it's done. In the movie called Alita Battle Angel. Go and see it guys.
Yes I really liked Alita. How dare that character be a strong female
Loved Alita! Can't wait to see the sequel
That movie was great. Not perfect, but great, and the character of Alita was superbly well done. THAT is how you portray a strong female character. I'll go farther and say that's how you portray a strong character of any gender, race, nationality, etc. Flawed, imperfect, vulnerable, but strong, and willing to ultimately do the right thing.
@@drumjedi5301 And a strong female character, that can only exist in a body of a robot. LOL!
@@Lachausis There ya go. Alita was strong before the body. It's about personality not the the body she's in. Brie might have a nice figure and be decent looking but, as the song says: "A pretty face don't make no pretty heart".

I'm am exceedingly grateful that I watched this instead of the actual movie. Great stuff!!!
I was a bit worried that some stuff in endgame will not make sense because it was referenced in Captain Marvel. Fortunately they had the foresight to almost cut her out from the movie. Still didn't see Captain Marvel and at this point I can't even be bothered to pirate it. It wasn't needed for endgame to make sense, so my interest went from low to non-existent.
i wish i could unwatch it - what a shite, boring agenda movie!
When you can't even be bothered to watch a movie for free, then you've got some real issues. It wasn't bad as far as superhero movies go. I like the new spider man, but homecoming was a snoozefest and this movie makes that look like a teen angst docudrama. I preferred it over Wonder Woman, there was a lot more action in it, which is kind of the point in a superhero movie. Whatever soembody thinks of the actress, which frankly is irrelevant as actors are hardly pillars of the moral community, the movie itself wasn't preachy unless just the idea of two female pilots is unreasonable (but I've been told it does actually happen).
@@davidguy209 i watched it in the 7 seas... and i regret it. What a sh**y movie.

I hated this morning before it was released. You've captured all of the essential reasons why. So sick of the poison being spewed towards men and manhood.
Yeah? Well no one likes to be called out on the shit they did. Doesn't change that a lot of it is true. Do not forget that agressive feminism is man made. If men hadn't overdone it for so long by taking away the basic human rights from women, there would be no feminism.
@@endlessstudent3512 and there it is. More blaming, more hate. Have you ever considered the monumental effects birth control, plumbing, and sanitary items had on women's opportunities? ALL INVENTED BY MEN.
No, it's just too easy to use men as a scapegoat for all your freaking first -world problems because you cannot look at your faults in the mirror. Society doesn't hold women accountable for their bad choices. You've swallowed the victim poison hook line and sinker.

No-one trusts Rotten Tomatoes anymore since the screwups the last year.
The marketing especially missed the mark a lot. The movie itself wasn't particularly anti male or pro female. There were some moments, but it was mostly just by the book marvel movie storytelling. Of course it wasn't very good and the main character was very uninteresting, but I think that was mostly the Director/Writer pair responsible for the movie just being unqualified and inexperienced for this film.
The parallel I'd draw for what Brie Larson did wrong was what Gal Gadot did right. She came off as a genuine person that liked all the fans and liked to portray the strengths of female characters as well as their weaknesses without putting men down.
Another funny thing is that in Wonder Woman Diana actually has a line about men only being good for breeding
