Fun Fact: The dead tree you find at the very beginning of the game is the Deku Butler's son. You were turned into a Deku by Skull Kid implanting the Deku Butler's son's soul in you.

Yes, the deku the skull kid killed to transform link into one was probably the butler's son who we saw in the beginning
Considering he left home long ago and was found again immediately before you enter Termina, he was probably on his way home after completing whatever journey he was on which makes it even more sad.
I like the feels you have with he Butler, really helps you connect with the plight he is dealing with, as you said tragic backstory

There's a theory that said that when u start the game when ur chasing skull kid there's a deku that is kind of a tree and it is said that's the butlers son
Since the Butler is crying at that same deku tree thing in the credits, it is heavily implied that he is the son and that possibly the deku mask that Link has is the same deku tree. I like how subtle it is. Such depth to the Butler in the very small amount of time he actually has.
Indeed, it's true. The story behind the Deku mask is the only one with a backstory that's only implied, not outright told to you, but putting together the pieces, there's no doubt about the fate of the butler's son. It's the only side story that's sort of left unresolved too.

Remember that sad tree in the beginning of the game? That's his son... Little sad but it's true which explains where the deku mask came from as you know getting these masks puts lost souls to rest. Sorry to spoil...

I don’t remember Link flipping and cartwheeling over jumps before (I haven’t played this game in years). I love it. I could watch him do that all day. It’s such a cool animation.
I was terrified of playing Majora’s Mask again because I remember finding it extraordinarily difficult, so the places where they’ve lessened the difficulty make me really happy. I do own the 3ds version, so I may just play it now. 😃
Link's flipping an cartwheeling are in the original, which they are cool and they show that this Link, after Ocarina of Time, was older and confident

In regards to the Butler, the “sad-looking” Deku found at the very beginning of the adventure is most likely his long-lost son
Unfortunately, since he is no longer moving and canonically, you race the Butler while wearing the Deku Mask, there’s not exactly a happy ending to be found and connections can be made...
Karmas Camera 2 years late for a reply, but it’s been proven for a fact, that the Deku that Skullkid transforms you into, is in fact his son. they show you that in the Hyrule Historia. It’s also proven in the credits of the game.

I can agree with both sides of the debate. On one hand, I didn't mind the difficulty too much originally (even if I was using a guide the whole time, rofl). On the other, I know the difficulty and stress level can be a huge hurdle for newcomers.

I thought it was implied that the butlers son was Link's deku mask since you get the trabsformation masks from those who have died.
Tyrique Smith not even implied, it’s proven for a fact. It shows you at the end of the game in the credits, (sorry for spoilers), and it also states it in the Hyrule Historia.
The Deku Butler is definitely one of my favorite characters in this game, and a certain brief scene of him during the end credits is, to me, one of the saddest and most heartbreaking moments in the entire game. Koume's shooting game seems a lot easier in this version thanks to the better aiming provided by the circle pad and gyroscope. I remember it being a nightmare trying to get a high enough score in the original version. Interesting that the prize was changed to an empty bottle, though it's definitely nice having a second one this early in the game.
I'm pretty sure the reward for the target minigame was changed from a heart piece to an empty bottle in the 3ds version

I have been playing this game since it first released on the n64 and I never once thought to take the mask off after putting the princess back in the throne

15:32 Ah, I was wondering when this LP would have some Derpstep Masae, and there we are.
As a kid I never got the scent mask because it was waaay too stressful. When I did it for my video it was a lot easier and even more so in the 3DS one. I guess it's better to make it more accessible for younger players but given some major game changes that make the game harder in areas this just ends up confusing me =P

welp, since Deku Link wont be of much use after this, this is the last time I post this, hope it become useful for those who read and play this game (specially useful in that race)
the fastest way to skip on water as a Deku is to side jump instead of running or even spinning
I don't know if you ever mentioned it, but they actually sped up the Inverted Clock in this version. in the N64 it was slowed to 1/3, but it's only 1/2 speed in the 3DS. so I think the reason why some areas are slightly easier is to compensate having slightly less time overall.
The Deku Butler is pretty cool but I can't stop laughing over that mask reaction ! lol Oh man

I should have said this last episode but, if we were to rewind time now, what would happen to the princess still in our bottle? does her location just reset?
Yeah you would have to go through the dungeon again to get her. But if you make it to the boss in a dungeon and die or reset time and come back to the dungeon the game will let you warp to the boss when you enter

I really wish I knew what actually happened to the Deku butler's son. He is dead and the mask that Link wears, but what exactly happened?

I would assume the Skull Kid killed him since he was able to trap Link in his body. With the other masks, you are implied to resemble the original person so much that people recognize you as them, so I'd figure it's the same here.
I always found the Skull Kid's behavior interesting as he seems to go through phases where the mask is more in control than he is. Sometimes he's just playing mean pranks, other times he's invoking curses that threaten entire regions and races. One minute he's stealing Link's horse and running away, the next he confronts Link directly and casts a curse on him.
Theo Aremevano he's very much still just a kid. His story is tragic without saying, as the skull children are what remains of children who got lost in the forest... It doesn't excuse what he did but explain why he is so afraid to be all alone, and when the mask offered him both power and company is there no wonder he wouldn't let it go as he always felt weak..!

IIRC, talking to anyone will get you kicked out. I could be wrong, and maybe they changed it in the 3D version, so don't quote me on that.
