yeah this was during Covid, what happened was Season 4 STARTED in November but then it was put on hold for Covid so we didnt even get another episode till middle of that year sometime.
One correction - the delay wasn't actually because of Covid. The split in the season was announced well before Covid was even a thing. The actual problem was at the time reported to be a huge fight between Harmon and Roiland. This eventually wound up with an agreement where Roiland agreed to leave the writing to Harmon and his team and Roiland would just voice the characters and not be involved in the creative end of the show. More details emerged later (after the Roiland controversy broke a few years later) and it turns out that problem primarily was that Roiland was behaving inappropriately in the writers room and nobody wanted to work with him. This caused about a 6 month delay in season 4 (it should have premiered around April/May, but didn't actually start until November) and the season was split in 2 with the second half not airing until May of 2020 (by which point the Covid lockdown was well underway, which is why they referenced it.) There's also a rather major tonal shift starting in this season. The first 2 seasons featured a LOT of improv (especially the Interdimensional Cable episodes.) Season 3 had some improv but not nearly as much, because that was the point where the issues with Roiland started, so he started to be less involved in the creative part of the show at that point. Season 4 forward has virtually no improv at all - the show is highly scripted from now on. The improv was Roiland's primary contribution to the show (other than voicing the characters.) From season 4 on (until he was replaced) he basically just showed up and read his lines from the script.
This episode's Jesus punchline is one of my favorite jokes in the entire show. "Morty, we were literally saved by Jesus Christ, tell me how in any way that's offensive." A great highlight in what is otherwise an uptight, overwritten, Dan Harmon circlejerk.

May 2020 ur welcome
4:35 When Rick says "You watch people on RUclips, reacting to f*cking RUclips!" Primate's face is like "Uh ... should I feel bad now?" ^^' LMAO
🤣
@@ItsAPrimatee When the show you're reacting to gets a little too meta... 😂
"Is any of this canon?" "It could have been!" :D
“Watching people on RUclips reacting to people on RUclips”…… why did Rick gotta do us like that 😂😂😂
8:40 I love that they brought that random kid who yells “YEAAAHHH!” 😂
This episode came out in May of 2020. So definitely during Covid
This was the season 4 interdimensional cable esque episode.
This one is one of my favorite eps in the whole show
Yes, it came out during the pandemic. That's the reference!!
Completely forgot this one existed!
One of the best episodes and people who disagree are just jealous because they don't have the train. CHOO CHOO!
This episode's Jesus punchline is one of my favorite jokes in the entire show.
"Morty, we were literally saved by Jesus Christ, tell me how in any way that's offensive."

Can't wait for the Vat of Acid episode. That's the best episode this season, possibly of the whole show.
One of the smartest episodes of the whole show for me.
So every season has an interdimensional cable episode. This was the one.
God I cant wait until we finally get to the season 5 finale, definitely my favorite episode of the series

this is a shiet chapter
The dragon episode is unironically one of the funniest episodes in the series and yall got issues.
yeah I think that episode is hilarious
There’s way worse episodes so I don’t get the hate either.
Not my favorite and only a couple big laughs but definitely solid
That episode had me in tears💀
One of the worst episodes of the series
Not even the worst "clip" style episode
@@Beefy_McWhatnow Randomness isn't funny. You heard it here first
@@hardware64 You can say it was Meta, but it wasn't random
You guys are crazy, I think this was one of the smartest episodes of the series.
You meant to say best. Go on, you can still edit the comment.
