- Welcome to Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC "Heroes of the Inner Sphere" Playthrough. In this video I will show you the gameplay of a full missions as well as the MechLab where you customize your Battlemechs. Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries is a game about stompy Mech action. You take command of a mercenary company and try to grow your income, salvage Mechs and hire Mechwarriors. The game includes a campaign with a vast storyline.
The gameplay is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

All the SRMs. Because if you're going to die from ammo explosions, you might as well be seen from orbit.
Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well.
@@duncancrickett9212 6 SRM 4 because Light Scout Mechs need to die in one Pull of the Trigger!
This series rules. I have been so excited when new episodes come out.
BRAK!
The kind of mech that makes you want to re-map your fire key to "Delete."
Can we talk about how that hunchback has been a OG destroyer still holding its own
Tbf I'm fairly certain the hunchie is by far the best medium mech there is....outside of the kintaro.
@@johnathanera5863 i would agree
@@johnathanera5863 Hunchie is probably the best medium mech for AI. It’s a great mech to pilot as well, but there are a few better mediums out there (mainly heroes) that I wouldn’t trust to an AI. Hunchie is just rock solid for AI’s though, it doesn’t disappoint.
@@maddermax22 I would get rid of the small laser, though. To my experience, I ate less damage because he keeps the distance a little bit more open.
But I was lucky early on and got my fingers at a GI variant. That thing is a complete new dimension of Hunchie.
I run 2x HBK 4P all T1 Medium lasers and single heat sinks, its so nice throwing them against enemies knowing they won't loose anything valuable lol, also they totally wreck, bringing 16 medium lasers to the field between them
oh man, all those SRMs are insane. 2 shot kills without having to go for headshots is insane
@@phant0m233 Yep. The AGC can be a DPS monster (mine has an absurd DPS rating of 136 atm, since all of it's weapons are Tier 5). I would probably still prefer my "Old Reliable" in the form of my BLR-1S with 4 MP Lasers, 3 SRM4-STs, & an SRM6-ST as it's a bit more heat efficient and more well-armored (since the BLR-1S is an 85-Ton Assault rather than a 70-Ton Heavy). I actually used my AGC to devastate Andreas Kane's KGC-0000 (disabled both of his AC/20s with an SRM Alpha-strike each almost immediately, which left with with just an L Laser & an LRM20, IIRC....which didn't really do him any favors when he was at close range [thus making his LRM 20 worthless against me] with my SRM 36 AGC. :P ).
@@zenstrata
How much ammo do you carry for each weapon? LRM 20s ain’t light.
That Agincourt was exactly as nasty as I hoped. I love SRM boats, and this one looks fantastic. I really love this series!
12:30 that was a sick jump kick mr. wolverine
Agincourt. Great name, great looking Mech. Good job PGI.
1 cool feature I just notice is when you are walking particularly with an Annihilator if you hold ctrl and look toward your legs it will use is hands to push tress out of the way
What happen is because of the gun convergeance, when you aim at a close up tree, your arm mounted weapon narrows donw towards the tree. But yes it does look like your moving the trees whit the barrel of the gun lol
@@Thaurok123 oh ok
@@Thaurok123 No it isn't. Some mech actually moving its arm when blocked by trees/buildings. Also when you hold ctrl keys, you're not aiming your weapon but viewing around cockpit.
@@ZuhriaAlfitra Sorry bud, but just go make a quick test, if you hold ctrl and move your mouse, your arm will actualy move up and down. Just go and try it, you will see. The arm moving in front when passing throu tree is really just convergance. its the same as when you exit dropship whit the Ahniliater
@@Thaurok123
Nah, if you approach a tree or something from the side and pass by it just close enough to hit it, your mech will reach out and brush it aside.
In our playthrough the Argincourt outclasses most of the other 'mechs damage wise easy-peasy. Even bigger ones like our stalker.
@@phant0m233 We have a mixed build, which is not usually used. LRM30 and some SRMs and 4 med Lasers. This is working. But it is fun.
I totally agree about the handcrafted missions
I have been loving this mech. Running all 4-5 lvl 4xSRM6 and 2xSRM4, 2 mLasers (can't stand being limited to one system type) Upgraded the crap out it, including the speed increase. Once your lancemates engage the enemy mechs its slightly broken how much the enemies ignore you completely if you don't shoot at all. I have walked, mostly unscathed, right up to and by assault mechs only to 180 and alpha strike X2 them in the back send them rag-dolling.
Looks like Phirana figured it out and put together a great fun game. LOSTECH missions, will Hyperpulse your heart into Combat.
I like this mission because the one giving the mission makes it seem like "Here is a nice mech, now I am going to guilt trip you into keeping it."
The last mission for the archer resembling the battle of Agincourt, raining missile weapons over heavy armor and holding a choke point, so good :D
With that agincourt, I'd add some medium lasers, or something in those empty slots. What if you get in a jam and need something other than missiles?
agreed.
@@phant0m233
The medium lasers increase endurance by providing weapons that can deal with helos and tanks without burning through ammo.
@Baradul I think you may be over-valuing the cooling needs of the ARC-AGC. I fully agree that mech runs very hot but it removes enemies so fast that you get solid cooldown time afterwards. I think it would be huge liability in MWO but I don't see it as a problem in MW5
Last night, I found and bought Justin Xiang Allard's Yen-Lo-Wang. Looked gorgeous
Been waiting to see someone else play the Agincourt final mission. It's a tough one.
I did it in a Dervish…at the end I was out of ammo, had all my backup weapons blown off, and my CT was red. That mission definitely caught me off guard!
@@zenstrata Yeah, I didn't pay enough attention to the difficulty rating and brought the wrong mech for the job. I needed something that could tank more damage than that poor Dervish could! A 4xUAC5 Crab would have been fantastic.
My lineup was ok, mostly I was a little sloppy and wasn't paying much attention to my ammo (I usually never come close to running out) until the very last part when I ran out of ammo and just grit my teeth rotating and shooting my one large laser on my Orion hero mech (1 LL, 2 large chem, 3 srm 4). The extras finished off the last two mechs with almost no input from me.
Stalker STK-FB…2 LPLAS, 4 MLAS, 2 SRM6-ST+ART IV, and Guardian ECM. Stayed in the city to offset its lack of top speed. Absolutely slayed.
Speaking from my own experience, the CRG-1A5 is a very adequate mech. Nothing special, it's hitboxes make it lose arms a fair amount but it's a relatively cheap replacement. It does the job, won't be something anyone writes home about except to say "it's not the terrible charger."
You spend so much time tweaking and planning your mechs, but you forget that the AI, both yours and enemies, is quite dumb. The charge in and circle strafe you. You only really need long range weapons to hit them on the way in. Granted. But, a ton of short range - sub 400m - is all you need for explosive results.
You can set your AI buddies in a spot to provide fire support.
@@killcat1971
Works great for mechs with LRMs. Slap a TAG on your mech and bring the rain.
I loved the AGC and kept it forever. I went with 2xLRM5/STs, 4xMed Laser/SBs, plus the 4x SRM6/STs and it's just devastating. And hot. SO. MUCH. FUN. Love that King Crab kill - "break open a king crab!" Thanks, Bara!
The Beagle is handy under almost all circumstances, especially in city fights. Why? Because you can see which wall they're behind before you go all Kool Aid man on them.
Also you underestimate the power of the tiny pew. 4 tier 1 small lasers is a 12 point punch for 2 tons and 3 heat that you can fire every 3 seeconds. I use them to keep shooting when my mech is about to cook itself from the larger weapons.
With so many hardpoints, whether going short-range or more traditional (for Archer) long range - or both, Agincourt is just a beast regardless. Ton-for-ton, arguably best mech in game. (note I said "arguably"...would definitely be at least a strong candidate in the conversation).
If only there was an Archer-II. Get on it, Blackwell Industries!
Love your vids fellow mechwarrior. You probably cored me 100 times in mechwarrior online. I was Saltbeef.
If U have enough free tonnage, it makes sense to use Artemis on SRM6. Or try stream SRMs.
artemis stream 4 x6 the rest is cooling and ammo, quirk it with missile range and cooling, top speed and armor and smorc it up , best heavy mech in the game for brawling or long range support (4 lrm 10s 2 lrm 5 BA and all missile quirks
@@Specter-wt1wt Good suggestions.
Agincourt 4 srm 6 and 4 med pulse lasers or med-sbs
I built my archer with 4 srm6+a and 2 srm4 + artemis and the beagle enough ammo. Beagle is absolutely awesome, also as brawler. 3 alphas are no problem and with the brawling updates (+15%speed, +7,5% armor and faster heat dissipation) even better. I still play this mech at 99-100 rated missions and it wreaks havoc. Also, I moved away from the 100t assaults, because they are running to slow. I drop most of the times with archers, battlemasters and cyclopses in different long/mid/short range variants, all running 74kph! You just going to wreck everything with this :) . Maybe, I will change to Atlas BH, but it´s hard to get. and also I think I made the mistake and played campaign mode, it´s a little bit different, even when finished with the campaign.
But I have never encountered that hard missions in sandboxing like last 3-4missions from the campaign. unfortunately. all the 13-15rated missions in late game with 99-100 difficulty are pretty easy, even the ones with 4 consecutive drops.
In the first mission in the canyon you can see how the AI mates work. No2 is a brawler and closes in. No3 is a mid range. And No.4 is long range and stays in the back.
I would go with some med lasers on the Agincourt.... would be helpful for pinpoint damage on tanks or flyers.... I like the mixed LRM idea too... but the lasers don't need ammo...
That’s how you crack open a king crab! Baradul, we need more 80s movies type one liners!
Agincourt hits different, literally.
I'd love baradul's color codes, I love the look. (seriously this guy was the final nail for me to get mercenaries... Thank You.) EDIT: Think I figured them out.
SRMs in general have some of the highest damage per minute in the game, and SRM-6 especially. you can create some crazy burst builds on mechs with lots of missile slots
Am loving my 3xSRM Kintaro, hoping to run across the Golden Boy some day.
I'm a ways into my first playthrough (my heaviest lance is 2 battlemasters, 2 stalkers) and SRMs feel like they do the most damage and are easiest to use by far. The only troubles are fliers and getting close, but even igors are brought down by the lance mates fairly quick and the enemy ai just charges in so.... Of all the weapon types I've tried, the SRMs feel like the top tier.
I use the Agincourt with 2xSRM6/2xSRM4/2xLRM10st with 4 medium lasers. no beagle, 3t SRM ammo and 2-1/2 ton LRM, the rest is filled with double heatsinks and max armor. Straight up the King of brawling, I drop assault mechs on first contact. The LRMs help pepper far targets as I close in for the SRM punch.
King Crabs are so easy to kill, even from the front. The cockpit is a giant hitbox, and you're almost guaranteed to hit it with an SRM brawler just by aiming at center.
That Archer is really good.
In my game, I run it as follow:
- Max armor
- BAP
- DHS
- M Chem Laser x4
- SSRM 2 x4
- LRM 10 + Artemis x2
I can shoot from pretty far and is also quite good in a brawl.
Try swapping out the chem lasers for short burst. They’re cooler than regular medium lasers, fire faster, have higher DPS, and the ammo for the chem lasers can be swapped out for SRM ammo or used to upgrade your missile launchers to 15s.
Get the speed & turn upgrades to that AGC! Thank me later.
And you can conserve a bucketload of ammo when putting in ML/double HS. Your alphas get even more deadly and you can kill some of the small stuff simply with the lasers.
I like the new archer, but don't forget to add the upgrades
Love the archer but think you really need a backup weapon system. Great episode
The Trebuchet hero loup de Guerre is basically the Agincourt’s little brother - even with a similar coat of arms theme as well. It is, in my opinion, one of the best mediums in the game, on par with the Golden Boy. It doesn’t pack as much punch as golden boy, but runs 105 and can keep a jump jet while packing SRM16 and 2xML with an active probe. I’ve done piloted him in 300 ton drops, while 30 tons under tonnage and never lost more than an arm. His speed means you just run behind enemies, and there’s nothing they can do. Ultimate blitz mech for beachheads and raid missions.
Also, I very much disagree on dropping the Active Probe, it’s basically wall hacks in this game, and so useful in a brawler - you can keep an enemy behind a wall if you don’t want to engage, or blast a tank exactly it comes around a corner so it can’t shoot. And it makes tracking down lights in a city soooo easy, when usually it’s a very annoying task. It’s a brawlers best friend, even with no lock on weapons.
that's a great archer build
I would love to see them do the Clan wars
Same here
It’ll probably require an entire game to cover. Sequel, perhaps?
When I tried this mission, I was in a Rifleman and after taking out almost everything, that last Orion killed my center.
One thing I found out recently is that you can hit escape, which will pause the game, and then there's an option to change weapon groups - so you don't have to do that hot. Might be an option?
Going to the right is a better choice in my opinion. I agree, these quests should have more unique missions, the whole quest should have unique missions.
I got that hero archer just yesterday with...
Awesome
Stalker
Battlemaster
I started from the "right" way and failed several times so I decided to demolish Waco's base first and finally got the archer... It was real hard...
My Agincourt has 4 X SRM6 Art and 2 X SRM2 + Art as well as 4 MLaser all systems level 4 - and all the double heatsinks I can fit in. With upgrades, she's currently shooting a 118 alpha and can fire three full missile strikes before overheat becomes and issue. She headshots (Atlases) very effectively and frequently and God help light mechs within 450 m of her (range upgrades).
This mech gets absolutely insane if you have the "yet another" mods. 6 clan srm 6s with big engine and a supercharger makes this mech scary as hell
loving this series man. keep it up!
Hi. I put 2 Streaks SRM on those small missile slots.. Great for hunt fast lights, they shoot pretty fast! thanks for the video!
I’m glad you didn’t get rid of the hunchback, I like going back to easier missions with my old mechs refitted with high tier weapons, double heat sinks and better pilots
Interesting that Bara pronounces Trebuchet in the French manner, but Agincourt in an incorrect manner. Weird. I use a similar build in the Archer Hero my own self: 4 SRM6, 4 MLSB, and 2 LRM5. It's been working out really well for me.
It seems like the new archer build may just blind enemy pilots using thermal vision from all the heat it will produce
I‘m thinking of the All LRM version. Just because the BAP.. a way to crack up the enemies from unseen.
Wow that thing is fast!
oh man the slaps on that archer are vicious!
Been playing with this monster for a few days trying out different builds. So far, these are my thoughts:
putting a medium laser in each arm is worth it for cleaning up vehicles and turrets. It’s surprising how much SRM ammo you go through picking off chaff if you have no lasers in some missions.
Artemis isn’t better, just different. High-end regular SRMs have a tight enough spread to keep the damage concentrated on anything over about 45T. Switching to Artemis made the mech more accurate against small targets, but it was just as easy to take the extra weight and invest it in more ammo plus a couple extra heat sinks instead. Besides, killing locusts isn’t really what I want to be doing with this mech!
BAP doesn’t really matter in an SRM build, but you can’t use the slots for anything else so I leave it in as often as not. I can drop it and run the 4x6, 2x4 build, but most of the time I leave it on and run 4x4, 2x6 plus an extra half ton of ammo. That ends up being a better for my longevity on the longer mission types, and I don’t miss the extra 4 missile tubes.
If they let me, this is one mech I would put CASE on! I use so much ammo in the thing that every once in a while an unlucky SRM carrier spawn will tag me in The back and half the mech will vanish!
Jesus…
Put more rear armor on. 13 on the rear side torsos and 15 on the center.
And you’re wrong about Artemis. The game has hit registration issues. There’s an upper limit to the number of entities that it can calculate hitting a specific component at once. This is most noticeable with LRM launchers, particularly LRM-20s. Using ST launchers with Artemis allows you to hit specific components for full damage without your projectiles spreading over the torso or not being counted. The heat, ammo, and weight Artemis+ST launchers save is invaluable. If you compare the number of required volleys to kill certain mechs in instant action testing, the difference is night and day. They also allow you to perform precision snipe shots at close range with SRMs. It’s less noticeable on SRM-4’s (I suspect they’re glitched), but it turns SRM-6’s into missile lasers that can easily headshot mechs when chain-fired in sequence.
That last archer mission was so brutal! By the last wave my core was red, I had lost almost all fire power and I was just using the buildings as cover as my lance mates used what they had left to finish off those mechs. Barely made it, now I'm farming lower level missions to afford the repairs....
Btw you can easily strip half a ton of armor from the legs if needed in 50+ ton mechs.
NObody expects the spanish Jagermech!
That KK kill was insane !
that charger variant is basically a small atlas/slightly bigger orion
12:30 WTF?! That Wolverine ragdoll. rofl.
I ran 4 TBolts and they were great. Now I am on 4 Battlemasters and about to switch to an Anni 1X with 3 Atlas D for a team heheheh. I loved this storyline and the missions in it. Too bad we don't get more of them.LRM's fro a close in battle?! SRM 6 for the win. I armed all my mechs with SRM6. We wiped the floor with them:) I use SRM6 against Vtols...just gotta aim right :)
My fav mech so far is the Atlas K, would love to see you do a build with it if you get one.
Yes Archer time. Tried the Black widow, golden boy and corsair. Nothing out dps's the quest hero Archer AGC. With 2 lrm 5, 4 srm 6 art, 4 mlsb the dmg is 105.55 and with 2 dbl heats and beagle probe. Love this mech. Even in 400 ton drops.
The BAP is so nice for city fights on of the main reasons I use the archer as my main mech.
I'm pretty sure if you take cash rather than a mech/parts to sell you get more money. I just bought a Maurauder II at like level 9
20 srm (2×6 2×4) 20 lrm (2×10)
4 m or mp lasers, plenty of room for doubles
BTW: next thing to try is the hero Corsair with two heavy rifles! The mounts make it wonky because the firing angles are different, but it still works and it's fun!!
Good job. Good gameplay. You forget to add the new pilot to your lance roster.
That build is scary
hunchback always doing work. seems to squeeze into every mission lol
I use that archer with 4-SRM 6 and 2-SRM 4 and 4 medium lasers. Add in the upgrades that tighten missile spread and velocity and damage/range and it destroys things very fast.
I'm using mine with 6 LRM 5 artemis and 4 medium lasers, been having a blast with it and have SO MUCH AMMO, I have almost 4000 missiles to work with so I just spam mode non stop lol
I tried some mods (mainly just wanted component size freedom) but tried one that added clan and pirate tech. played for an hour and had to remove it because it made cooling WAY too easy and cheap. Sucks because the RACs, Light Guass, and LBX were fun. OH! Inferno SRMs also were cheat mode. Just shut everything down instantly.
its also that way in real battletech so that your idea of fun is to make thing alot harder thin it realy is in batttech that your opion! but let me remind you that clan doble heat sinks are al lways the best heat sinks well! its allways been i thing that if you have alot of clan doble heat sinks it alows you to keep alpha strikeing! its allways been that way even on the bard game! like if you think like haeing good mid to end game batttech tech is to easy then try fingth more mechs at once and see how long you last when out number two to one! this would will realy change your mind if the ai was actarly properley made! but it seams the ai in the open sorsce java batttech board game computer port megamek is far smarter then what ever pgi and hairbraaed shcem woudl made for like almost no money and a donateion shoe sting buget! plus megamek is a real batttech board game manager that has all the batttech baord game stuff and it does everything you need for a batttech program that keeps track of combat, campains and even make new mechs and other units wihout needing pen and paper or note pads! and that best part is they can excangse data to eathc other for the best battetech bord game expracse so far! its also on the offcal batttech catalest labs forms by the way! try it out its way better then most of what pgi and hair braned schmes would make! its ALSO COMPLETY FREEEEEE!
I run one mod at the moment "Cockpit Glass". Rather self-explanatory... it adds Glass to you cockpit window with weather effects. You can just add it midgame, at least it worked for me.
Love the opening and guten tag!
A thought: You ditched the Firestarter, and fair enough given the missions you run... but it *was* a handy (ie, fast, lots of firepower) mech for demolishing bases with. Perhaps upgrades and refitting your MASC-happy Dragon might provide a useful replacement, amidst your swaths of Assaults? Might be worth getting it upgraded in advance of finding the mission you need it!
Think you missed the AC/5 Ammo that you've been looking for at 32:20
German accent "back shot again, oooo hes cherry red"
Wife "what the hell are you watching
Hope a mod like roguetech will come to MW5. Basically the only thing really stopping me from buying the game + expansion.
So, what do you think the chances are the Agincourt is haunted by its late pilot? The daughter even implies it a couple of times.
Love the series :) Noticed a lot of micro stutters or lag of the game this video though.
They make you stomp on so much stuff to get this Missile Mech.
Green Hoodie man has the same curse as Kenny from Southpark.
missile blimp so powa~
Is it weird that I was able to pilot a light mech for the entirety of my carrier mode? Using the additional equipment makes it easy ECM and TAG especially.
I've been trying to figure out how do you manually change your weapons numbers while you're gaming?
What a shame. Kate’s Brother should of listened. I pity him. That fool. Blinded by his rage.
Starts with 1700 rounds. Gets to 1100. "Ammo at half!! Oh nose!!" LOL!!
I'd like to see a build with at least two uac/5s, I put 2 on a cataphract and feel like a mech equivalent of Yosemite Sam
I’ve been playing along trying to keep up with your progress. But I can’t find those double heat sinks to save my life.
They become more available as the years progress. I’m in 3046 now and I find DHS in regular equipment stores fairly frequently now.
Bara got most of his by stripping mechs he found for sale.
Imagine they add another DLC called MechWarrior: 5 Mercinaries DLC Villains of the InnerSphere
Yes, please.
@@michaelgoodenough6223 it's most likely not gonna happen tbh lmfao
Every time I see you miss putting the heavy rifle on a mech. I've been using it and it's explosive damage and rip mechs apart like a cheaper hotter gauss rifle
So Mech5 was total failure at launch. What's your opinion about the status of the game now with the dlc? Or maybe you could do some kind of recap video; what has happened to the game and is it worth it as in 2021.
One Question fellow Mechwarrior, are you Colorblind ?
What Happened To Infantry?
really hope they add the clan invasion DLC to keep the timeline going.
That needs lot of work so do not expect it anytime soon. Maybe they will make a new game with the clan invasion which means You have to wait 4 years. You will see.
Butt shot - that's how you crack a King Crab.
