However, his smash is merely not strong enough to win a point against world class players. That’s how important is the attack to a badminton game, no matter how skilful you’re, if you can’t kill the rally with attacks, you can’t win the game. Wang also couldn’t react quickly to opponents’ smashes and trick shots , but usually he wasn’t this bad. The main reason that leads to the large score gap is because his opponent is lee Chong wei. The quickest and most deadly attacking player on the planet (at the time) which exposed Wang’s weakness more than ever. I think he will get more points if he were facing a defensive-oriented player, like Chen Long, Momota or older LinDan (After 2015).
true. most chinese players like to play relaxed or calm and rally every point until they get a opportunity to kil the ball, thats the one thing i noticed when watching chinese players play.
SugoiP I think it is the different philosophy of training. The major strategic trend of China players is pace-controlling and defence. They are trying to win the game by making less mistakes than their opponents rather than scoring more points with attack. While Malaysia and Indonesia players put more emphasis on net play, attacking strokes and trick shots. In their culture, badminton does not only related to result and efficiency, but also entertainment and applauses, which encourages a lots of genius to boldly show their talents on court, like Sukamuljo and KKK.
Wang's main weakness is about his recovery. A bit too slow in recovering his position after each shots from the opponent, especially after returning left / right smashes
In this match probaby, i have watched WZM live in the singapore open, his smashes are actually really really powerful( i think before playing singles he was a doubles player?). Too bad he's not aggressive enough if not he could have been like chou tien chen :/

wang zheng ming that time was too young to play with lee chong wei. He is skillful but lee chong wei is just legend
