You definitely need to watch that movie with your son!! There is a behind the scenes video that shows the making of this great production. The Pentatonix singers all played multiple roles. Such a magical success!
Her name is Dorothy Gale. She lived with her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry on a farm in Kansas. She took Toto and ran away because a neighbor wanted to have Toto killed. The movie never dealt with the fact that Toto is still in danger once Dorothy comes home; it just kind of glossed over that little problem.
SuperFruit is the channel Mitch and Scott posted to during the years they were living together. Mostly they used it as a vlog, but they also produced some cool musical stuff. Their "FROZEN MEDLEY (feat. Kirstie Maldonado)" is the episode you happened upon, and it's a fan favorite, utterly hilarious. If at some point you do react to it, be sure and stick around after the obvious end for the blooper reel.
The frozen medley is a good one to do, it’s PG, but their songs off their album and some of their medleys are not PG. Superfruit is such a vibe. They’re so good and so dang funny. I love this video as well, Toddrick is a genius and of course PTX killed this, especially Kirstie!
Don’t forget to react to their Masked singer performances! They did a bunch of great songs, and you can watch all of them in one video! I love Pentatonix so much
This is such a fun video, much more fun when you know the story/have seen the original Wizard of Oz :) Did you catch how each of the songs related to the characters? "thinking of you" for the scarecrow who wanted a brain, "broken heart" for the tin man who wanted a heart, etc. And Kirstin was an absolute star! She got to play Dorothy, the good witch, and the wicked witch, and slayed all of the parts and vocals! I believe that Todrick Hall was behind the song choices. There is a fun "behind the scenes" of the making of this video. If you want something else great to react to from PTX, they did a mashup during quarantine called "Home". It was filmed and recorded by each of them in their own homes, and is a mashup of a lot of songs about "home". You'll hear clips of a few of the same songs from the end of this video, as well as a lot more. They released an EP during quarantine called "At Home", and this is on that EP. There are videos for 5 of the 6 songs from the EP.
_The Wizard of Oz_ was released in 1939 and no, it isn't in the public domain. Its copyright was renewed in 1967; it will enter the public domain in 2035. The clips they show from the original movie during the "Home" medley are clearly homage. They're disjointed so that they don't tell the story, and they're a minuscule portion of the actual movie. It would be very difficult to make a case for copyright infringement, and since "The Wizard of Ahhhs" may be increasing demand for the movie, why would anyone want to?
Thank you both for the fun action. PTX did a song for Ryan's world the movie , Thunder a cover from Imagine Dragons. Their rendition of Can You Feel the Love from The Lion King would be great for your son
so, someone took Todrick's video and cut off the part where he thanks PTX for the collab that he created. Not sure why they would do that, but it's not so nice.
this is a masterpiece! :). make sure to show your son the original movie- about DOROTHY- ;). and her friends- each song is about what they all need... "thinking about you" scarcrow doesnt have a brain... "patch up my wounded heart" Tin Man needs a heart... "I will not be tamed.." Lion needs courage.... :)
Todrick Hall is also from Arlington, Texas and knew the trio when they were growing up, though he's a few years older than they are. Todrick published this on his RUclips channel in 2013, just two months after Kirstin's twenty-first birthday. The little dog Kirstin was holding in the first scene was Todrick's dog, and it was actually named "Toto," but once Dorothy lands in Oz Toto is played by Kevin. This is because they needed a reason for Kevin to appear in every scene and they were running out of characters. Note that Toto sure seems to be singing a lot, considering that he's supposed to be a dog. Each of the three companions Dorothy met in Oz had his own quest that made him want to meet the Wizard: • The Scarecrow wanted a brain, so Scott, as the Scarecrow, sings "Do you think about me still?" • The Tin Man wanted a heart, so Mitch, as the Tin Man, sings, "My heart is damaged, so damaged." • The Cowardly Lion wants courage, and is trying to cover up his cowardice with bravado, so Avi sings "I can't be tamed, I can't be blamed, I can not be..." (Note: You can find the lyrics and sources here: genius.com/Todrick-hall-the-wizard-of-ahhhs-lyrics ) Kirstin played all three of the major female characters from the movie: Dorothy Gale, Glinda the Good Witch, and the Wicked Witch of the West (Side). But Dorothy also needed to be in the scenes with the witches, so they made sure to show Dorothy only from the back in those scenes, so she could be played by a stand-in. The same is true of the Scarecrow in the scene with the Wicked Witch of the West Side, because Scott and Kevin were playing the two guards behind the witch. The costumes were rented from a professional costume company; I'm impressed that they had a munchkin costume available for a man who's 6'4". There's an excellent Behind the Scenes video for this, which you can find here: ruclips.net/video/C6yQa3oC7gM/видео.html One good quote from the BTS video: Todrick: "We're, I guess, halfway through the shoot day for The Wizard of Ahhhs, and," (sound of vocalizing off-screen) "and Mitch is singing in the bathroom."

Recommend their video of Thunder from the Ryan’s World movie soundtrack.

Emerald City...
Most of the songs are from from the pop charts of 2012 and 13.
