He purposely dont want to restand it. Cos ruling says that if you stand valk with stand trigger, it loses all drives. By standing it with vg's skill, it only gets drive -5, so it can still drive check 5 more times. So if you use the stand on valk, he wont be able to do any drive checks anymore until end of turn
