Perhaps ESPN doesn’t want to admit they have disregarded women’s sports for 23 years. How about women’s soccer or so many female basketball players who have been dismissed? Clearly a management problem. Women’s sports have only been allowed for 50 years.

If it was Angel Reese that was the first woman to win that award, they would have taken up 90 percent of the entire Show talking about it and they would have had only enough time to hand out 2 more awards. That's how much of a big deal they would have made it...

They need their time to promote Bronny James because it would be so heartwarming to see a father play basketball with his son. ESPN is LeBron's network which defends everything he does.

She's the most popular by far, but I wouldn't say she's the best female basketball player. A'ja Wilson got an award too, for good reasons. She's probably the best all around player in the WNBA, and is a 2x league MVP, 2x defensive player of the year, and won 2 championships. So I give the nod to her at this point.
Could Clark eventually become the best female basketball player? Sure! She has potential but she's still a rookie and is still developing as a pro-level player.

@@stevenvox6549 The Bronny James thing will be interesting as it was when Ken Griffey Sr and Jr played together in 1990 and when Gordie Howe played with both of his sons between 1973-1980. What Bronny does after his dad retires may end up being mundane unless the Lakers develop him properly though.

@@kyleelsbernd7566 you have to take into account the nuances. A'ja is a forward/center and she's bigger than Clark, who is a point guard. They play different roles. A'ja excels at her position, as does Clark, but A'ja has been a consistently better player so far than Clark has been in the WNBA. In the future, that may change but at this point, no, A'ja is the better player. Not by a mile, but by a little.

Disagree about ESPYs being redundant. Sure we have MVP of each league but there is no show to highlight any of it. Hell, I had no idea who the MVP of hockey or baseball was. The ESPYs are known for the presentation and speeches and montages that get you in your feels (which is why it’s a real shame the program was abruptly cut off at the end).
