I don't have a GTS but got a Macan S recently. My sights were more on S4 and m340i as I'm not an SUV guy, but 2 x very young children, a lower back not being what it use to, a love for Porsche and the arrival of the EV one encouraged me to test drive one... I signed the line right there and then. Feels like the best car based decision I have made yet... I love it! Glad you did too, you just reinforced all my thoughts about the car. 👍

I recently got my first footsteps into the Porsche World with a new Macan T. At 52 years of age I’ve only driven VW GTI’s and VW R’s my entire life. So the Macan was natural progression. I absolutely love everything about it. The T does have the base engine but the top suspension you would find on this GTS. My T that I got with air suspension and torque vectoring + was already out of my price range so the GTS at exactly $31k more here in Vancouver for an inch bigger wheel and much much much bigger and better engine was not in the cards. I hope they keep the petrol version for a few more years at least so that I can then make my next natural progression in the car world to a GTS in a few years. Excellent review Joe. Have kept my Macan Turbo (3.6 V6) for 6 years and it's a great daily. Winter tyres from 1 December make it a great option for touring France and Italy in ski season. Will be looking for a new one very soon!
Joe your reviews are some of the best on RUclips, up there with Harry’s Garage. I had a Macan GTS for three years and as you say they are a great car, so many lazy comments on forums about it’s an SUV. I sold it and bought a m3 touring with ceramics and ultimate in black after your review and Harrys review. As you say the low speed ride is a bit busy, but the specialness, looks and performance and fun are a different level, no regrets (maybe the seats). The car came on Pirelli corsa which I have now swapped out for ps4s which has transformed the wet grip and removed aquaplanning. Great review.

Great review Joe 👍 Had a gts Macan and then had a vorsprung rs4. Owned both for a year each, can’t fault them as a package however major problems with both. Macan had a new transfer box within 10,000 miles, then the pan roof leaked and behind the dash filled with water. great review as always Joe! I have had my '24 Macan GTS for 1 month now and absolutely love it. Had it tinted and ceramic coat/PPF'd - and also did a matte PPF on the interior console buttons/screen - game-changer in terms of reducing the glare/fingerprints! 100% agree with you on matte/stealth PPF for interior. Planned ahead and had it done the day after collection for my 2024 GTS - not only does it negate glare, fingerprints, scratches, etc but it makes the cabin look much more clean and upmarket. Perfect finish for me.
Lucky enough to have purchased the GTS back in April this year, a 2022 72 Plate. Fantastic car, can’t wait to start driving it more as I’ve only done 800 miles in 7 months.. it’s a sexy metallic blue
I test drove this car last year. It totally changed my mind on how an SUV could handle, be fun and be practical. Though I reckon, any bigger of an SUV, it would be something else.
I ran the previous gen 3.6tt model with the updated infotainment etc. great car. Rides well. Sounds great and drives like a hot hatch. Do love the gen 2 GTS / Turbo.
Joe What a fantastic review and thank you because this is the car we bought back in February 2024 GTS in Crayon we ran and Audi RSQ3 for 4 yrs and we shopped about,Audi BMW Land Rover BUT The Macan GTS just kept tapping us on the shoulder And to watch your review it’s so spot on Porsche seriously cannot stop making this. To answer one of your questions yes you can get a deal with Porsche, plus if you spec these right the residual value is good compared to other German brands or vehicles of its capabilities. We picked ours up in Sheffield so the drive back to Cambridge with was fantastic. Sad I know but we always name our cars😅 but our lad always gets to name them, now he’s 13 I said Harry what we calling this one then. Well dad as it’s built like a tank and as you’ve destroyed everything on the motorway I think we best call her Fury 😳👍🏼👍🏼😎 These cars are mega thanks again for this review Best wishes Dave Lou & Harry
Quite funny that I have a similar story, in that I’m from London and got the best build slot and 5% discount deal from Porsche Cambridge 😆. Well worth the collection and return home in - what a great car!!
I have a 2021 Turbo and not keen on the EV model. I am tempted to get a new GTS as it will be the last of the petrol generation. It is possible to lower the ride hight manually (it lowers automatically over 75 mph) which further improves handling. Also love the Surface Coated Brakes (PSCB). I think it is possible that these machines will be sought after in the years ahead.
When I was choosing my first car in my life back in 2021, I was deciding between a Macan GTS and a BMW M550i because they were in a similar price range. I test-drove both and both felt amazing to me. Finally, I decided to go with BMW because I wanted that extra 2-cylinder and a little bit faster and a sedan style and I thought I would keep this car forever. But at this point, I kinda regret it as I'm getting married and probably having a baby in the near coming years. BMW is great but I always feel like Macan is just more reliable and suitable for a family car. To this day, I am still thinking about getting a Porsche I guess that's the magic of this brand.
Found the RS4 Evo review where I first seen it "Along with this generation of RS4 came a new 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine, co-developed with Porsche. Aside from its implementation in the RS4 and RS5, this specific V6 is also found in Porsche’s Cayenne S and Panamera S, as well as the updated Macan Turbo." Macan Turbo was essentially the GTS last minor revision.
@@gdubyadubya8961 Other than the 911, Boxster and Cayman, all the engines are tweeked VW / Audi engines, not true Porsche engines. True Porsche engines are flat 6 boxter engines.
@@alastairorr6318 Porsche have developed several v6 and v8 engines over the years. What are you talking about? Btw….the flat 6 is a “boxer” engine. Not boxter lol
My dad has had 2 x Macan S, loved them. My brother bought my dad's last one. My dad has had 8 Porsche over the years, an air cooled and a water cooled 911, a Boxster S and Boxster, 2 x Cayman. Back in 1995 / 6, he sold a Ford Sierra Saphire RS Cosworth 4X4 for the air cooled 911 in red.
I ordered mine in Jan 2024 as was extremely lucky to find a dealer with a build slot for May 2024. Delivered end of June 2024 and am constantly taken aback by its bandwidth. It’s smooth, quiet, comfortable, and practical at one end and ferociously fast and hot hatch agile at the other and the difference is just a quick turn of the drive mode knob. Air suspension coupled with adaptive shocks and pin point handling makes you often forget it’s a 2 ton suv. Superb braking and excellent feedback through wheel and your butt in the seat give so much confidence. I’m outstanded by how much this thing punches above it’s weight (excuse the suv pun). The best part about it being old(er) is Porsche have got rid of any of the guinea pig issues in the early years and now it’s probably the best pound for pound ICE suv still available. Although we still have to thank Audi for the engine, and I completely understand whyPorsche chose it, it’s the connection to the pdk and the ECU management that take it to another level needed to make this such a special and almost unique machine. Bravo Porsche, bravo!
GTS is the sweet spot in the market, glad to see they are continuing it Hopefully will pick up a second hand one in a few years (can’t justify young kids wrecking it currently)
Great daily, I had one as a courtesy car from Porsche recently, was super impressed with the practicality (I also had assumed it was much smaller inside) and the ride quality. I’ve had Cayenne’s and whilst great packages just a bit too big for my needs now. I think Macan GTS is one of the best practical daily’s, good alternative to the fast estates. Great review! 👍
Great overview Joe we are on our 3rd Macan GTS it makes a great rapid dog wagon and we enjoy driving it to our house in Italy. I will say the purchasing experience was not great with little help on the options and we noticed some quality issues on delivery which Even Porsche UK fobbed off .. agree 💯 with the wet grip had a 5 hour drive up a rain sodden Italian motorway and it aquaplaned several times .. squeaky bum for sure. All that said for the money if you want comfort .. handling and practicality it’s still unbeatable. I am just hoping our build was a Covid special and they are now back to usual Porsche quality standards .
I had a really hard time deciding what to buy, a BMW M340i with low mileage, or a little older (and 10k more expensive) Macan GTS, I choose the BMW but I'm still in love with the GTS idea. Maybe one day (or a F90 M5 :P )
Spot on content. From what you were saying about the new one it seems like this one is the only option. Its got a great engaging engine, great chassis, it isnt over screened on the dash, we have real dials and the instrument cluster doesn't have that pointless ugly cutaway. Its a fantastic car. Side note, when was the last time you saw a man driving an EV and didn't think "yeah, he looks exactly how i imagined an ev driver to look" ? Side side note, I wanted to buy some detailing products and I remembered you demo-ing a sponsors products but I couldn't find the video or any links on your yt page, can you maybe have a tried and tested product section on your page?
Great informative video as always Joe... After following Jaymie and Liza in theirs up a Spanish mountain road with PetrolheadTours I think it's an phenomenal piece of kit given it's size and weight, with the lack of body roll in the corners that I certainly wasn't expecting, given the speed we were travelling.. Straight line speed as shown in your video is impressive and it sounds good too.. Zunsport stainless steel grilles would sort out the exposed radiator problem just like they have on my M140i 😁👍
Luv da shirt! Big time fan of your content here in Vancouver! Great to see a fresh review of the Macan. It seems like years since the last proper review of this beautiful car. Much appreciated homie! 🇨🇦😁
For me storage isn't as much a concern as the rear seat legroom. I'd very easily give up 4 inches of that cargo room in the hatch if I could get it in the rear seat area. It's just as snug as the GTI back there. I bet it drives great but I tend to drive around with at least 4 seats filled and my passengers would begin to hate me. Fun review though!
I just ordered a Macan S yesterday. Love the classic swoopy lines. It will age nicely. I don't think I'll ever buy an EV. They seem rather bland, IMHO. BTW, I’m from Vancouver Canada and I approve of that lovely t-shirt 👍🏼
1:40 I thought they looked slow on the road, now that specs sheet explains it. 19:19 good advice, one saw a Cayenne behind me trying to give it large through a wet roundabout, car went sideways like a bar of soap. Heavy things, higher center of gravity.
Here in South Africa, brands like Vw and Ford have done the same in terms of continuing older versions of cars with some of their small hatchbacks. For example, the Vw Polo Vivo is a continuation of a previous generation Polo and the Ford Figo is basically a continuation of a previous generation Fiesta. The 1st generation figo is basically what I call a knock-off version of the Mk6 Fiesta (2002-2008) while the 2nd generation Figo is a more direct continuation of the Mk7 Fiesta. The 1st generation Vw Polo Vivo was a direct continuation of the 4th generation Polo from 2002-2009 and the 2nd generation Polo Vivo is a direct continuation of the 5th generation Polo.
S00o much better looking than Ped's EV one. + it has a key, a nice gear selector, more buttons and makes a nice noise. I had a diesel S loaner for a day once, astonishingly capable. If they still made that it would be the one to go for.
Same boat as you. I just got a (approved used) Macan S with M340i being my other potential car. No regrets here! There is just something magic about the Macan, likely the Porsche DNA! Although an M340i touring could still be sampled when it comes time to change.
Such a rad car. Was debating getting a GTS or S, but couldn't get my hands on one easily. So I went with the X3 M40i due to it being available and am super happy, but I always wonder what it'd be like to live with a performance Macan.
I don't mind the old styling if it means it's more ergonomic. It sucks that touch screens became the norm, to me that's a cheaper solution. Buttons and knobs that are nice to press and turn feels a lot more premium than a screen and a lot more usable.
I quite like the look of the EV Macan. I would like it even more with the GTS engine.. Agree about those vents on the GTS, it's way too exposed and almost looks like they forgot to add the final cover.. Liking the rear with a revised light bar.
Excellent review. Thanks for tip re. how to engage manual transmission mode full time - I didn't know that, but then I have had my S for only 15 months . . . . .
I've always liked the Macan due to its size. Also it seems to handle and go really well. I would definitely consider one of these should I have the money in the near future or I bet they would be a fine low miles secondhand option too. Just wondering if you ever see Harry Metcalfe on the road as you seem to use the same roads as him. Good review as always Mr Joe.
In terms of daily ride quality, the M3 is a poor choice for comparison, without at least mentioning the M340i. As Adam at Redriven said, "If you have no intention of ever going to a track day but you bought an M3, then sorry, you bought the wrong car."
Joe, thanks for this video, really timely for me as I'm close to ordering a new GTS. However, I am also looking at the RS4, The AMG CLE53 and the M4/M3 Touring. It will be my daily. What would you consider from that choice?
I went for a low millage second hand RS4 ex press car and absolutely love it. All the options. Wicked fun plus comfortable and plenty of space. Can’t recommend it enough 👌👍
Good review but the Sport Response button doesn't add any power, it just stiffens the suspension, shift points, and throttle response all at once. In a 911 Turbo it adds some power for 15-20 seconds but not here.
I'm never going to be a fan of SUVs but have to say it's one of the better looking ones. Kinda get the point on the exposed radiators but I don't really think it's worth a second thought tbh hey you might get a Pigeon or Pheasant stuck in one and find yourself with a ready cooked meal when you get home...
Joe I should be making a purchase decision between BMW M2 and Porsche Macan GTS. I enjoy driving sports vehicle ( not on racetracks) but on secondary roads in America, enjoying the curves and pushing the cars. I enjoy the higher seating position of the Macan. But that extraordinary video of yours with the M2 in the Arizona/Nevada dessert captivated me. Are the rides, road handling and speed similar in both cars. What would you recommend? Is a second car. And my family consists of wife and me. No Kids. They are already independents.

What a fantastic review and thank you because this is the car we bought back in February 2024 GTS in Crayon we ran and Audi RSQ3 for 4 yrs and we shopped about,Audi BMW Land Rover BUT The Macan GTS just kept tapping us on the shoulder
And to watch your review it’s so spot on Porsche seriously cannot stop making this.
Well dad as it’s built like a tank and as you’ve destroyed everything on the motorway I think we best call her Fury 😳👍🏼👍🏼😎
These cars are mega thanks again for this review
Best wishes
Dave Lou & Harry
Quite funny that I have a similar story, in that I’m from London and got the best build slot and 5% discount deal from Porsche Cambridge 😆. Well worth the collection and return home in - what a great car!!
I have a 2021 Turbo and not keen on the EV model. I am tempted to get a new GTS as it will be the last of the petrol generation. It is possible to lower the ride hight manually (it lowers automatically over 75 mph) which further improves handling. Also love the Surface Coated Brakes (PSCB). I think it is possible that these machines will be sought after in the years ahead.
Porsche steering and ride is legendary and the secret sauce that defines them all.
As always Joe a 10/10 review. Keep up the great work!
You make a good point about the wide open grills….i had the same issue on my golf GTI MK8…..£995 dent in my pocket for an air condenser unit!
Same in a Panemera I owned. Big issue! In some countries, get a cover to prevent this. Should be standard.
I’m pretty sure the 2.9tt is actually a Porsche engine that Audi use in the RS not the other way round. The old 3.0 was an Audi engine.
I think your right. I remember reading the same a while ago cause it made the RS4 seem even cooler to me! 😂
@lesgrossman9492 VW / Audi engines stripped and rebuilt by Porsche, NOT true Porsche engines. "REAL" Porsche engines are always boxer engines.
You also get to avoid all those big brother EU driver control aids if you don’t select them on the option boxes
Rs4 in porsche body :) with porsche interior. Love that.
GTS is the sweet spot in the market, glad to see they are continuing it
Hopefully will pick up a second hand one in a few years (can’t justify young kids wrecking it currently)
Good afternoon! I enjoyed a Macan S and after a Macan 2.0, and I have the thorn stuck of not having had a GTS. Now I want to go back to the sedan
They also fit relatively well into UK parking spots ,unlike the Cayenne and full size Range Rover ,they got it right back in 2014 ,great review
I have my 2025 landing in April, I can’t wait
Damn this is one of my favourite cars right now! Sporty, looks good and a little bit of practicality too! oh...and it's a Porsche!!
It does feel dated these days, inside and out. Saw one next to Macan EV and it shows the age! Still a great car.
I had a really hard time deciding what to buy, a BMW M340i with low mileage, or a little older (and 10k more expensive) Macan GTS, I choose the BMW but I'm still in love with the GTS idea. Maybe one day (or a F90 M5 :P )
Another amazing episode. Looking forward to the next one. Thanks for sharing
Side side note, I wanted to buy some detailing products and I remembered you demo-ing a sponsors products but I couldn't find the video or any links on your yt page, can you maybe have a tried and tested product section on your page?
when you get one in a decent spec it's a really great and practical car for what it is
How refreshing is this news of continuing such a fantastic model in our strange automotive world we now live in
Got my 2021 GTS in copper ruby metallic from Carmax in 2022...luv it !!!
Mini did it in 2019, and still produce both versions side by side😊
I just ordered a Macan S yesterday. Love the classic swoopy lines. It will age nicely. I don't think I'll ever buy an EV. They seem rather bland, IMHO. BTW, I’m from Vancouver Canada and I approve of that lovely t-shirt 👍🏼
1:40 I thought they looked slow on the road, now that specs sheet explains it.
19:19 good advice, one saw a Cayenne behind me trying to give it large through a wet roundabout, car went sideways like a bar of soap. Heavy things, higher center of gravity.
This looks 1000% better than the EV Macan. I can't imagine that EV Macan is in high demand. I could certainly take this one over the EV one.
I’ve always thought this was a great looking car. Still looks good even in 2024
Wow that looks fast and so good! Excellent footage Joe!
Good video - only question that remains is whether this GTS is worth the extra 10K+ over the S with a similar fundamental engine
Best daily driver ever.
Excellent review and present done by a very fine gentleman
I ordered one of these last year albeit the 2.9 S and love it. It was between the Macan and M340i touring. The new Macan does nothing for me
Same boat as you. I just got a (approved used) Macan S with M340i being my other potential car. No regrets here! There is just something magic about the Macan, likely the Porsche DNA!
Although an M340i touring could still be sampled when it comes time to change.
Love the shirt mate. Watching from Vancity.
I loved my Macan S loaner, cant imagine how much faster this thing is
Such a rad car.
Back for some Joe Achilles
I quite like the look of the EV Macan. I would like it even more with the GTS engine..
Agree about those vents on the GTS, it's way too exposed and almost looks like they forgot to add the final cover.. Liking the rear with a revised light bar.
I daily a stelvio QV
Weekend car is ND2 club
The stelvio changed my view if fast SUV’s
Under 1800Kilos kinda like a big GTI but crazy fast
I consider this but bought a late 22 KIA Stinger 3.3 V6 instead....OMG awesome car imho.
As always Joe, great review mate ✌️
Those seats look odd but I do love the Macan. I love the new ev Macan. Best one so far
When i get another Porsche it will be this model 👌
I bought a new macan turbo with 10k of options, price tag I think was £75k in 2018… trade in to OPC after 3 years with 39k miles was £35k
Another awesome review. All info no fluff
Good review but the Sport Response button doesn't add any power, it just stiffens the suspension, shift points, and throttle response all at once. In a 911 Turbo it adds some power for 15-20 seconds but not here.
Great one Joe. Waiting for the new x3 50i rewiew.
I have a Macan GTS and am looking to get the latest version before they stop making the petrol version..
Saw your videos…bought the M2C. Now another video…buying the Macan GTS 😂
Boring spec, but amazing vehicle... Getting one of these without the moonroof and adaptive cruise is simply daft.
Feel like this makes a really good case for any Sq5 out there as a reasonably priced option...
Unsung hero.
I live in New England. As soon as temps go below 50F (10F) winter tires go on. Even in temperate England, I would NOT run those tires in the winter.
Thank you for making me want one even more now lol 😂 great review fella!
