Tuesday Devotional- Affection

Standing near the cross were Jesus’ mother, and his mother’s sister… When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her.
“Dear woman, here is your son.” and he said to this disciple, “Here is your mother.”
(John 19:25-27 NLT)
Even here, amidst the agony of the cross, Jesus shows deep affection for others.
The recipient is his mother, entrusting her care to the disciple whom he loved. This act of love demonstrates Jesus' compassion and concern for those who were dear to him.
Are you aware that it is not only Mary that Jesus was seeing as He hung on the cross?
You were also on His mind.
You laid heavy on His heart.
As we meditate on this scene, may we receive the assurance that Jesus cares for us.
May we also seek to follow Christ's example of selfless love and point others to the fact that Jesus loves them, even to the point of death.
