I owned a mk2 1.3 carburettor engined Golf and there is no way it had only 50bhp. It wasn't fast but it was nippy, It must have been so light to perform like that at 50bhp? It seemed quite torquey. Great car. Choke was a bit of an issue. Kinda delicate fuel air mix it wanted.
