    as a person who’s 17 and weighs 95 lbs and am a petite girl who wears xxs clothing i appreciate stores like this cause im so small and i can barely find any clothes that fits normally. there’s stores like torrid that are for plus size women and i think that’s great for them. i get why everyone’s upset but like it’s helpful to the smaller petite people who can’t find clothes that typically fits them to be able to shop in a place where everything practically fits them.

    • @zianne_anissa
      @zianne_anissa 2 года назад +440

      torrid can’t be comparable though because it doesn’t offer just one general plus-size. no one’s upset that brandy offers petite sizing but that it offers ONE petite sizing for one specific body type and composition. also the leadership over brandy is controversial too.

      yeah the difference is the intention wasn’t for petite clothes. I’m a tall girl with curves, I’m not plus sized but I’m not skinny either. I get the feeling of not being able to find clothes bc it’s either too short or the curves are not where they need to be for me. regular waisted clothes are low rise on me, etc etc. if there was a store that just made clothes for tall women like me, sure it’d be great. but if they said that they only make clothes for tall women because only tall women can be beautiful models or something that would be ridiculous. Brandy can have their preferences on sizes to sell, but don’t make it some sort of beauty standard marketing scheme. that’s just gross.

    While I don’t want to support the brand, people don’t understand how HARD it is to find clothes for girls XS. I’m not even XS but I buy from brandy for my sister because she’s genetically smaller and no other clothes from stores like h&m, forever21, zara, etc, the tops don’t fit right. Even if I buy xxxxs. They all fit awkwardly on her when brandy fits her nicely. Tbh I also wear it sometimes even though I’m a size 6. I buy from there because all three of us (me and my sisters) can fit into those clothes. We all have the same style so it helps to not buy multiples.

      The reason that people don't like Brandy Melville is not because they sell clothes for petite people, but rather due to their marketing and the history of the brand. It is designed to exclude people rather than include people. It wouldn't be a problem if all they did was provide small sizes, but their advertising, "one size fits all" can be very harmful to young people when they do not fit that ideal. There are also other allegations against the company/ CEO, (like racism) that I believe makes them a bad company. There are several petite stores where I’m from. Many Asia-based stores also cater to smaller/shorter bodies. And I agree, Brandy Melville’s message is foul, never something to support. I hope you can find a store that fits! Not being able to sucks. I’ve started making my own clothes as a result - maybe give that a go?

    To all of you in here upset that she is upset about the “skinny girl store” when there are “plus size girl store”. Keep in mind that current beauty standards to our bodies does not advocate a plus size shape. As such most stores only go up XL or L, while they do offer many times xs or xxs items. Plus size stores are in place for those above the XL margin, whom are unable to find clothes anywhere else in their size. And if Brandon Melville’s company motto or campaign was “to be able to provide woman below the xs size clothing, that they cannot get in the general market” then there would be no problems. But, this company has made it clear, admitted themselves, that they only want rich skinny girls to wear them. Which is why people hate this brand not only for their terrible and I mean terrible owners, but for their exclusion of sizes M and above, as well as their blatant classism.

    Brandy melville caters to a specific body type in the same way that plus sized stores do. I'm petite and I have a hard time finding clothing in my size so for me Brandy Melville is an opportunity to find clothing that I know will actually work on my body. I know there's also a lot of middle school girls who relish Brandy Melville because they are still too small for most stores but are tired of wearing kids clothing, and Brandy Melville fills that niche.

    As someone who finds a hard time finding clothes my size (because usually everything is too big for me), if stores like this existed where i lived shopping would be so much easier instead of having to go back and forth through the same malls. Just like how some stores sell plus sizes for inclusivity; then there should be stores that sell small sizes which is also inclusive. Since you’re so pissed on the fact they aren’t “inclusive” then go shop somewhere else. You’re able to fit into ALOT of clothes unlike others who share my struggle. Just go somewhere else its not that hard.

    Having a shop dedicated for smaller women is great. The issues are just with the brand and the people behind it. It markets a narrow type of person as an ideal (white, rich, young, thin) and is outright hostile and prejudice to any other type of person. Throw the whole brand away.

    They're in business because they're one of the few that make most their clothes with natural fibers such as 100% cotton and high quality. Also, the one size is actually really good for the environment due to less waste. Love their basics. They don't constantly change their clothing, not fast fashion like other stores. They also stick to their values and don't care what others say, I like it. They're big to some and small to some, they don't need to cater to everyone if they don't want to.

      i can guarantee that despite being a smaller person with curves, you will not fit half the things in brandy 😭 their clothes arent meant for curvier girls or shorter people since they are one size, and just because its a small size, doesnt mean itll fit all petite girls.
      i get that some people will fit into brandy’s clothes, and that it is hard to find clothes that fit you right, but brandy just isnt a good brand, especially if you need more specific sizing and types (ex. shorter/longer pants, curvier, broader/wider shoulders) which brandy just doesnt offer in most of their clothes.
      it also doesnt help that brandy has terrible values and their ceo is racist, hiring mainly white, skinny girls :/ overall it isnt a good store. if it fits you, good! im glad you could find a store that has clothes that fit, but not every small person will, and i hate that people keep saying its inclusive to smaller people when it isnt.
      i do suggest that you watch some videos on this brand (the exposing documentary type ones), ngl theyre very interesting to watch :)

      @@somexsuchii I didn’t say all girls were the same. im sure you’re body is very different from mine, but again my body type is included in their sizes, not perfectly but better than most brands. I’m 5,6” (not short, not tall) 24’-25’ waist depending on the time of the month and 36’ hips and bust. I didn’t say I had the same petite body as everyone else. But that again DOESNT invalidate my body type.
      I’m fully aware of their company values but 1 that’s not what she’s complains about. 2 getting rid of a brand that appeals to people of my size for the sake of people of another size is wrong. Especially when the woman in the video complaining DID fit it at one point and now doesn’t. I will not be able to find clothes easily if they destroy all brands like this. You don’t see me saying they should burn bigger size brands because they are too big for me.
