    I grew up on a farm in South Carolina. When we went to “harvest the vegetables from the garden” we got out early to beat the heat too. We also carried 1/2 bushel baskets or a foot tub with us.
    Picking sometimes two to three bushels of beans, peas etc. that day.
    A big portion of the rest of the day was spent shelling beans or peas or peeling tomato’s etc to preserved for the winter.

    Hi Dom those Zinnia are gorgeous and your peppers look soo good. We have had weekly severe storms where I live the whole month of May. The bugs in my garden are out of control 🥴. I almost hate to go out there with stuff flying everywhere. How do you deal with feeling like bugs are flying in your face and hair?

    I'm not sure whether you know this or not but I just thought it might help. You weren't supposed to prune determinate tomatoes because it lowers the yield. Determinate tomatoes need all the foliage and suckers because they only have a short growing period. Hope that helps! Also, YOUR HARVESTS ARE AMAZING! THIS IS SHAPING US TO BE A GREAT YEAR! The garden is pumping out food!

    Oh, my goodness. I am just blown away that you're harvesting tomatoes and peppers! We can't even put out our transplants until next week! (Our last frost date is June 2).
    If you want to try some really tiny tomatoes, I'd recommend Spoon tomatoes. They get about the size of a pea, and are very prolific. The first year we tried them, I harvested one morning into a Red Solo cup to about 3/4 full. I was curious and counted them once I got inside, and there were more than 100 tomatoes in that cup!

    • @faithfamilyhomestead
      @faithfamilyhomestead  4 месяца назад +1

      I think the one I Harvested was considered a spoon tomato. It was definitely the size of a pea, haha, so tedious to harvest. Can't believe you have such a gar last frost date haha June 2nd is super late. I couldn't imagine being cold in May

      @@faithfamilyhomestead the problem is, we actually get pretty warm! It's just that the overnight temperatures can sometimes drop dramatically. In some areas to the south of us, people traditionally plant on our May long weekend (the weekend before your Memorial Day weekend). This year, we got hit with several days of non-stop rain, but in some places, they got snow! There were people in some of my gardening groups that lost everything they planted. 😞

    Hello to you Dom and the girls! I absolutely love these harvesting videos. I am now just starting to have my green beans and squash come in. I will check back on some of your previous videos, but do you have a canning video for green beans? I have a brand new Presto 23qt, but am a little nervous to use it. I want to get the electric one, maybe it’s not so scary 🫣 😂. Everything looks amazing! Take care!👩🏽‍🌾

As soon as I harvest enough green beans to can, I’m gonna do it. Time to roll up the sleeves a get busy. Thanks Dom! You guys have a good and safe weekend 👩🏽‍🌾😀

      @chellelivinggreen you could definitely get so much food... I don't have all my beds planted this year. I'm rearranging some beds, and I had soil issues in some beds, so it definitely depends on your soil health as well
