    "Cracking short!" - Neil Marshall
Pay Back is a tense thriller starring Craig Conway (Dog Soldiers, The Descent, Doomsday, Vera) and Phil Harker and directed by Steve Ramsden, shot in Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead in North East England. It has already screened at the North East International Film Festival and the Tees Valley International Film Festival.
Synopsis: A wealthy property developer goes to the top floor of an art galley to pay the ransom for his kidnapped son. But when the lift mysteriously stops halfway up the building, he must quickly work out if the young man he is trapped with is just an innocent tourist - or the kidnapper...
This was always going to be a very challenging film to make on a low budget, but with a bit of inventiveness and a good, talented team you can do anything! We wanted to use a famous local North East landmark - the Baltic Centre with its glass lifts - as the centrepiece for the story, and we were lucky enough to be granted permission to shoot there. The very challenging script called for both a location shoot (the Baltic and surroundings) and a studio shoot (the lift interior) that had to match perfectly. This was made harder when, due to a number of factors, these two shoots ended up taking place over a year apart.
Part 5 of our behind the scenes looks at the studio filming.

Well done. It's always a challenge but a good strategy and working environment makes a big impact on your end product.

Most lift car walls would probably wobble like that if someone was physically shoved against them, so that scene is not in the least bit unrealistic.
