I quit my airline too . We didn't commute, so that was a win. I was just getting sick all the time, and i was just not enjoying the job anymore.
It was hard though to quit

Good for you!! I wished I liked being a FA.. I need to go back to Project Management.. I have an application in, and I’m trying to convince myself to go back to flying. But, I know, I’m going to dislike it again. However, this job market is brutal, and I’m looking for a job. Period..

Thank you! Airlines can take quite some time to get back. I pray yours goes quickly!

This is one of the most truthful things I’ve seen on RUclips. I also was a flight attendant for 2 1/2 years and quit for all the reasons you mentioned and I did love the job and I don’t plan on ever going back. Well at least not to commercial flying. I did have the privilege of doing private charters and that was the flight attendant dream job. Unfortunately that company went broke.

I really appreciate your kind words! I never got to experience flying private charter, but I can imagine it being much different

One of the things is the way this industry is set up you don’t get more by putting in more. Every year everyone is going to get a raise and go to the next level on the payscale. If you are the person that goes above and beyond or the person that does the bare minimum at the end of the day y’all will get the same pay. So not having a performance based payscale is definitely demotivating and that is pretty much industry standard. Being held responsible for company mistakes is also an issue. Scheduling has definitely screwed me and somehow what they did became something to blame me for. Not to mention being the scapegoat and expected to do everyone else’s job and keep an eye on them while barely getting paid minimum wage per hour. I really think this job is great for young people in their early to mid 20s and those who are making this their second career or chance to finally do what they always wanted. Those of us who are trying to build up our lives it doesn’t really work long term.

The company morale was another major thing for me! It never made me feel like I wanted to support the company when I was made to feel like I was always in the wrong, yet I truly loved my job + took pride in it.

@whitney: I think what is happening right now is that tens of thousands of boys and girls (young and old) are applying for the flight attendant jobs. Very few of them get hired and the airlines know that this job is in great demand and that they will always be able to find thousands of people wanting this job. The airlines therefore have the freedom to treat them like numbers rather than as human beings who want to do their job but also need to be respected and appreciated.

Thank you so much for sharing your life journey with us!! You are an authentic person who know what she wants.... kudos to you!! You realized rather early that being a flight attendant was not to be your end game, you had other dreams and aspirations!! You were very lucky to have had the opportunity to work for a world class airline that tens of thousands of pretty boys and girls apply for every year but only a sliver of them get hired.

I am a current flight attendant and I can relate to what you said. This job is a lifestyle choice and for me jet lag is still a struggle. Also, the pay is not the best in the beginning. Thanks for sharing!!

I was a flight attendant for 10 years. Annnnd I quit last winter. It's been a great year! I'm not in pilot training.
Being a flight attendant was my personalityyyyyy at one point. I loved it.
But the people get on my nerves. And we aren't paid enough or protected enough for the bullshit we have to deal with

Facts! It's definitely a lifestyle. Some days I hate it but I make it work for me. I'm a single gal so it's a bit easier. Dunno how much longer I'll do it cuz the pay still ain't cutting it. Thanks for sharing hun! I felt when you said some of em don't have a personality outside of being a FA. All the best in your future endeavors.

Congratulations! This is a beautiful video. Can you do a video on how you got into product management. I’m only 8 months in and I’m around like wtf am I doing. I don’t see myself in this career for a very long time. Currently looking for a second job and using this job to relocate to be honest. It saddens me to see how many coworkers are dealing with mental health issues. And Seniors holding on to the best schedules and trips but are aged up and need to rest those old bones.

Hey girl! I’d be happy to make a video on how I got into what I do now. I think it’s good to know you don’t want to stay in that career long term. That’ll help you start researching and learning other things in the mean time. I know plenty of people who fly and are in school or use it to do other hobbies

I swear it’s them! They have the highest turn over and I know why. Their reserve system, the management at the bases, just a lot with them.

@@Iam_brandyjanay : You are right, and they ( the management) know that there are thousands of men and women (young and old) more than willing to join the ranks of flight attendants!! The airline management knows that flight attendants are dime a ten dozen in the market place!! That is the true reality of the situation.

Honestly, I feel like if they did things differently and changed up their approach to match (🔺💜) they’d retain people and keep growing and people wouldn’t leave 1-2 years in. It’s like they do not care! SMH
