I officially recommend this now!
I just found this vid. And I was just going to ask: after almost a year how was it doing? So its doing well?
Good video
Definitely saw that you recommended it
How long have you had it
The first repairs are still looking good nearly 2 years later.
@WanderingWeekends nice glad they are holding up
I made notes of your materials
Thx again
I have that same set of chairs and the same issue. I'm totally trying that!!!!
Still working well for us!
I have the same make and model with same problem in the same exact cushion.... thank you so much for this video I'll definitely be purchasing this product!
Glad it was helpful!
I think it looks great
Thanks! Not bad for 5 minutes of work!
Thanks for this video. I have a couple of places in need of repair. This might fit the bill. I will test a few places as well.
Nice job that is awfully close to an ideal match on the seat. 👍
About as close as I could have hoped for.
Looks great. The only thing I would of done was round the corners. Thanks for sharing👍👍
For what it is.... it turned out pretty good. Looking forward to your "We bought replacement furniture" video. 😁
Nah, I got a whole roll of this stuff to use up now!
Ours did this too. The worse one is in the site the dog sleeps. The head rest is almost completely worn off. The dog is a small Terrier/ Dachshund. He’s never is up that high. But ours is also peeling around the arm rests, and the seat.
Awesome, just ordered some for our travel trailer couch that dog scratched up
I agree with you that it's s nice fix, although I might have left it as is. Having that "pleather" peel is sort of a badge of honor--it means you're using your trailer a lot, enjoying it, and enjoying life. I also want to say that I've enjoyed your videos for a while now. We were looking hard at the exact model of trailer you have, but we ultimately went with a Jayco 284BHOK in January 2019. I continue to watch your videos because I appreciate your honest, down to earth opinions and commentary.
Hey I appreciate that! Glad you’re here.
It doesnt mean your using your RV a lot, it means that the material sucks and is not backed by the manufacturer!
Hey Cory I think it looks a lot better,I wished I had seen this product before. My recliner could have used a patch on head area
I think it looks very nice compared to what it was! I will do the same when mine fails. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!!
Straps on the back of a ball type cap, hair clips also dig in.
I'm a condo maintenance tech. I see this even with residential furniture.
Interesting. The same thing happened to our 2018 Grand Design Imagine. We have the exact same theater chairs. It was in my side only. My husband’s bald head didn’t affect his side so it must be my hair products. I tried a leather repair kit. I matched the color good but it’s no good. No shine. Just a big dark matte spot in headrest. I’ll try this product you recommended. It’s got to look better than it does now. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
I did a patch just like that this week on my office chair headrest- for the same reason. Lazy boy chair.
Did you go with the dark brown?
Yes
I have a 2018 Grand Design Reflection. Same issue. What is the brand and color that you used? My seats are the same as yours. Thanks! Great video
The link is in the description box of the vid. Shagoom I believe
What is it about RV/travel trailer furniture that it peels like that...? Thankfully ours hasn’t started but I’m just waiting for the day. Thanks for the tip! I’ll have my eyes “peeled” for your follow up video 😉
Hard to say. Luckily Thomas Payne has started backing their stuff for 5 years against peeling. They reformulated their material I guess.
Amazon price is now $27.00
😡dang Amazon!
Maybe a buckle or Velcro from back of hat scratched then hair products got into the backing? Thanks for the info…cheap fix.
Possibly... weird it’s just there.
Any updates on how it is holding up? Cheap fix until we figure to replace the sofa or reupholster it.
It’s sat in hot and cold storage now. It’s holding up surprisingly well!
We’ve had two rv’s with this issue. Both of them were Thors. I was so hoping it was limited to that brand. Oh well. I don’t see where the product is listed.
I have same issue and trailer or seats it looks like. I was wondering which color you chose for the repair kit. I was thinking "coffee" might match better than the "dark brown". Thanks!
We used dark brown.
This didn't work for me anywhere in the RV.
Hmm… interesting… ours has held up for well over a year and I actually used it again on the other recliner about 4 months ago. Works like a champ for us.
What aspect didn't work?
Name of products
This is not an uncommon problem on RV furniture (esp. Flexsteel) from the past 10 years. Ours did the same thing on the captain's chairs of our Newmar, but it wasn't where your head was, it was random places, almost like the adhesion of the top layer failed. It's worth contacting your manufacturer because Newmar is recovering all of our furniture at no cost to us even though we are out of warranty now.
If it gets bad we may see what Grand Design or Thomas Payne may do.
@@WanderingWeekends FYI, Thomas Payne is a Lippert product and thats who'd you need to contact.
@@TheMinnow101 I am having no luck with Lippert standing behind their product.
@@tiffanyfulton5768 No surprise there.
Hey there! Just curious how this repair is holding up? We have the same furniture and the same issue like many others haha. May copy your fix since the only other option it sounds like is getting 50% off new furniture...and other than the peeling, it still works just fine. Thanks! - Shane
It’s held up great! About to use it on the other side now.
@@WanderingWeekends Good to hear! We will have to purchase a couple of those ourselves.
What is the name of the fabric and where did you buy it
It is linked in the description box below the video 😃
Are you rubbing your head on the coach.. LOL
How is this holding up?
So far so good!
@@WanderingWeekends thank you so much!!!
What color did you purchase for this fix? The dark brown? Do you feel like the black would have matched better?
Dark brown for sure.
@@WanderingWeekends Thanks for posting this video. I know its not a cure all but it definitely makes it look better. Just bought a used 2017 that just started doing this so looking to cover it up before it gets really bad.
Love the channel. Can't wait to see more videos.
Is it still holding up good? What area of the country are you? We deal with heat in Texas.
Holding up great! We are in Georgia.
Where did you get the roll of leather from
Corey, you're not using hair spray again are you! 😂
Busted!! 🤣😂
Nice quick fix I’m kinda glad I have fabric furniture having 2 border collies it would be trashed
Hey ok quick fix. Being preventative though, did you ever ph clean and then condition the leather? Was that like a weekly/monthly maintenance thing you did or no?
We would wipe with conditioner every time we would do a deep clean. I have no clue what a ph clean is. Manufacturer suggests a damp cloth for cleaning. Humidity has always been under control as well. I have to guess a hair product did this. Nothing else in the rig even show the beginning stages of peeling. Hard to say for sure though.
@@WanderingWeekends cool good to know. Ph clean is just using a dedicated leather cleaner that is ph balanced. Other than, tap water for example, which isnt ph balanced. Could help for preventative damage though cuz water is often often to basic or acidic. Cool repair vid though. Fun.
You really believe the furniture in an RV is real leather for less than $200k????
@@WanderingWeekends Our couch peeled on the seat cushions. The back cushions are still fine. So I discount the hair spray theory. I thinks its the heat from the RV when stored in conjunction with the cheap leatherette covering. Anyone that has this furniture in their RV for more than a few years has this peeling issue.
Lol.... Use leather conditioner on a vinyl product? Uh.....No...
Mine are shot. Need new furniture, Grand Design/Lippert don’t sell those theater seats anymore. 🤬
Off topic but any idea if a 36” table will fit under the window where the dinette is? I’m thinking of adding a table and removing the dinette completely.
Honestly, not a fan. I think I would rather go with a cover of some sort. Glad you like it though.
I wish I could find a cover that actually fits and doesn't shift around while sitting on it. The only true fix is to reupholster or new furniture.
They peel because of guy’s wearing their hats while sitting in the chair. We all have our spots in the RV. Looking at your ball cap, I’m guessing that was your spot that peeled.
Nope, don’t wear hats or use any hair products and still the dreadful peel happened
I think it looks 100% better , what were we talking about ? Yeah sniffing hair ! The former Plugs B. 👍
🤣😂
Yup looks 110% better. Nice vid
Patch the other one in same spot for a match
Kinda wanna see if that side peels. Haha.
Duct tape! ;)
Haha... not far off!
@@WanderingWeekends The flaking pleather is why we went with cloth in our RV. Been through enough headphone pads to not want to deal with it. I'd bet it was a hair product that caused your issue. Conditioner will eat up my headphone pads.
Oh good call. Interesting
@@WanderingWeekends Cant go with this explanation of hair products because mine are peeling worse in seating area and some on the headrest. I am going to try the patching .
