    We've all seen these commercials for the Bell and Howell Tac light from As Seen On TV. They run it over, boil it, and freeze it to demonstrate how tough it is. It's actually fairly impressive but as a Mechanic, our tools are subjected to even harsher conditions. In this video I take a Bell and Howell Tac Light and put it through the Shaners Mechanic Life Torture Test. What is that you ask? Watch and see as I see how tough this flashlight really is.

    These lights are okay. I hardly owned mine for 2 years before the light became very intermittent. Would constantly flicker and never operate at it's full brightens. It was a surprise to me considering I've had flashlights from the dollar store go through more abuse and survive. I just recently took the tailcap apart to attempt to fix it. The solder was poorly done and all dried up i added some new stuff and it works like new now but you are still much better off getting a proper flashlight from a brand like sofirn or wurkkos. Heck even acebeam and olight are better options. This particular flashlight is just outdated you can do a lot better nowadays.

      That sucks. I would try taking the batteries out, clean all the connections, and try recharging or replacing the batteries. Let me know how it works for you. Thanks for watching.

    Nice video, I have that model which is made of forged or tempered aluminium or alloy and the ProTact that is made of iron/steel, the zoom light goes farther, there is a magnet at the bottom of the body and there is a ring at the head that when unscrewed gives a wider pattern of beam.

    Have seen the ads for this flashlight and have thought of buying it. But the sellers' telephone number has changed 3 times over the past year or so. Makes me suspicious and wonder what reasons the sellers' have for doing this? Makes me wonder if seller is legitimate. Any answers?

    A question for you? I found one that seems to be in good shape. I put new batteries in the light but it did not work. I can not make the switch tighter from the inside. The light appears to not have been used much. There was some water inside which has dried up. The glass lense still shows condensation inside. Can the led burn out itself? I hate to give up on it. It was found with a load of stuff that someone was cleaning out their garage with. The items,tools,spray paint were all good. Any ideas. Thank you David in Broomall, Pennsylvania.

      I would try taking anything apart I could and clean all the connections. If it got wet, there could be corrosion. It is possible for a led to burn out. Let me know how it works out.

    I actually put in an 18650 instead of the AAAs that's kind of a bonus

      You can buy and use the 18650 rechargeable battery for this flashlight? Do you need a tube for it or is it just the battery that goes in?

    • @RohARc
      @RohARc Месяц назад +1

      @@MadNerve no it's just drop in and it seems like it gets a few lumens brighter but does heat up a bit faster.

      @RohARc are they the flat top or button top 18650 batteries?
