Forgotten? Loomis is one of the most universally acclaimed metal guitarists ever. He went and got his bag with Arch Enemy, and more power to him for it, but the man is a living legend.
Yes! Excellent choice, guys! Nevermore is amazing! Jeff Loomis is a monster guitarist! RIP Warrel Dane. They have many great songs. "I, voyager" and "The river dragon has come" are must hear ones! Keep it up! 🤘🏽
Nevermore's Dreaming Neon Black is an amazing concept album. I will not go into detail about the back story. I have I Am The Dogg written on my acoustic bass guitar. If anyone has ever lost someone they were close to for a long time this will put you through the ringer. I lost my twin brother back on Nov 8, 2002. He was only 28 years old. This year makes 20 years. I feel his presence every day. RIP Darrell Lockett, aka "Dural"
So glad to see a Nevermore reaction, it's a band that should easily be in the top 10, but is often egregiously ignored. They were sometimes classified as "american power progressive thrash", lol, they were an insanely creative band. Their singer, Warrel Dane, died a few years ago.Their guitarist, Jeff Loomis, is now a guitarist for Arch Enemy.
Smokey guessed right, these guys are power metal, but the darker American style which often crosses the line between thrash. Iced Earth is another band that plays this style. Nevermore also add a progressive element.
lol i remember the endless Iced Earth vs Nevermore debates in the mid-00s, loved both bands, but I give the edge to Nevermore. Iced Earth had its share of amazing songs, but Nevermore was consistently mind blowing.
Warrel was from another planet. Truly one of the most unique and versatile voices in ALL of music, any trained vocalist will be in awe of this mans range and delivery, nevermind how insanely deep his lyrics are (research the story behind his ex girlfriend and the tragedy that was behind Dreaming Neon Black. Add in Jeff Loomis being the greatest guitarist and song writer of a generation, and Van Williams being the most criminally underrated drummers for his 14 year career....Nevermore was truly something special that won't be duplicated ever again.
One of the most underrated metal bands. So many great riffs and heavy grooves. Just excellent all around, but they don't get the recognition in the mainstream of course.
dude yes nevermore is one of my favorite bands of all time. rest in peace warrell Danen you should really check out sentient 6 tje lyrics to that song are unbelievable.
Welcome to the brilliance of Jeff Loomis, the guitarist who also wrote a majority of the music in their songs. If you see pictures and think he looks familiar, that’s because he’s now a guitarist in Arch Enemy. I was sad when Nevermore broke up in 2012, but a little excited when he finally accepted the offer to join AE. I just hope they use his songwriting talent as much as his musicianship. He is considered one of the great guitarists, and watching some of his videos in itself is jaw dropping.
Still think it's a strange choice to go with Arch Enemy, nothing against them but Jeff Loomis (being one of the most incredible metal guitarist of all times) deserves to be recognised more... Especially after creating some of the best songs ever written in metal with Nevermore.
@@VinnyBrando Agreed, I never understood why he chose AE as his main project. They are a lot more straightforward in their compositions. They are a solid band, nothing against them, but not even remotely progressive or technically challenging for someone of his caliber. Maybe he just wanted to jam for a while.
Did you check out Conquering Dystopia? It's the project he did with Keith Merrow. It didn't catch much traction, I think because it's instrumental. There's good shit there though.
@@VinnyBrando In retrospect, yes. I thought maybe they would get him involved as soon as possible with the song writing. Deceiver Deceiver seems to be written more with him in mind, and I quite dig that track.
Yes!! Nevermore is still one of my all time favorite bands. Jeff Loomis is an absolute amazing guitarist and I believe Van Williams is one of the greatest drummers out there. Sadly they were such an underated band considering the talent they had. Jeff Loomis is currently playing with Arch Enemy. Nevermore also did a BLAZING cover of The Sound of Silence which I think you guys should check out. Peace and Happy New Year ✌️🤘!
Some of Seattle's finest! Next track from them has to be "The River Dragon Has Come". Thank you guys! They also do a mental good cover of "The Sound of Silence"! XD
I love Nevermore's music. I saw them live in 2010 on what would be their last tour. Got VIP tickets for the low low. I have my late twin brother's collector's edition of The Complete Works of Edgar Allen Poe signed by Warrel Dane. During the show I even got up on stage. They were awesome.
