For 16:21, i would say that pre-craig bonds are all the same bonds because of the writers referencing bond's deceased wife from OHMSS throughout the pre-reboot series. Starting from Moore's Live and Let Die and up until Brosnan's The World Is Not Enough.
9:35 the origin of the alias "M" is that it was Ian Flemming's pet name for his mother Evelyn and he based the character's relationship with Bond on his and hers, a cute detail!
About Smersh, Smersh is actually referenced in some of the movies; most notably From Russia With Love. While they aren't direct villains they are semi-associated with SPECTRE.
7:15 I thought it was a "double entente" joke but maybe he talked about being tortured (as a callback to Casino Royale's infamous chair scene) or being tied on a chair by the villain in the franchise. Or maybe it's just a mindgame to not show weakness to the antagonist in this situation.
This is quite an underrated iceberg. There’s a lot more Bond content and theories that need to be explored.
