Many people may be wondering why I opted for this animatic hybrid format rather than full stop-motion. There are many reasons stop-motion is difficult for this series, especially with the length of episodes and the set design being fairly restrictive for movement (claustrophobic, studless). To do a full stop-motion episode would take me 6 months to a year; there are ideas for over 50 episodes in the works with dynamic worldbuilding, planetary exploration, and character growth. Right now my focus is on refining the process so that a new episode can be produced once every 2-3 months in my limited free time; otherwise it would take me more than a decade to produce a single season.
That said, there's a lot I can do to improve the flow of motion, and there are several sequences in this episode that are definitely too static. There's a lot I am unhappy with in this episode, but I am still new at this and will learn as I go.
All in all this turned out quite well. It shows much effort and planning. Voice actors and set design was done well.
You could use your stop motion animators to add in a scene or two to mix it up.
Club brick strikes with something amazing once again
You should get some captions on this.
"YOU BLOW UP ONE AIRLOCK- " Hahaaaaa! LOVELY stuff!
Good idea! Pat really nailed the delivery of that one.
Turned out great!
Amazing work again!!!
This is Awesome
This was great! Really shows how much effort has been put into this. The lighting and sets were awesome! Keep the good work up! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Anything you'd like to see in future episodes?
@@ClubBrick More fight scenes would be cool. New settings like an undiscovered planet could be cool. Keep the awesome lighting and voice acting!
Absolutely loved this, amazing video. Best vid on the channel so far! The set design, the characters and the story. Just brilliant!
Glad you liked it! What are you hoping to see in future episodes?
great story and voice acting, looking forward to the rest of the series
Great animation skills, good attention to details. Love it!
This was quite good.
Nice use of LU music at 11:20!
I was wondering if anyone would notice...
Great video!
loved it man keep em coming
Well done 👍 👏
To improve I would say take a few more pictures to keep the movement going a tad more but it was quite well done.
I'll work on it!
This is an interesting style. Full Stop Motion? LoL orange has a great voice. Captains is pretty good too 👍
Woah, that must have taken a lot of time. Great job!
great stop motion it was really smooth actually and the audio was really good compared to other stop motions even though it has so many voice actors, great job!
I love it!!! Can’t wait to see more!!
A very creative and entertaining video! Nice work guys!
An interesting and well done first episode for Club Brick's first stop motion project. My critiques however are:
1. I know the blurs are usually intended for effect but the quality of the camera shows itself.
2. The voices will need practice and improvement as they sound monotone and not in the moment.
3. Possibly think about the possibility of improving the atmosphere and sound where you can, I know it's being shot in a build so it might be difficult but I bet it would improve the feeling we get while watching and how we view the situation.
Thanks for your feedback!
1. I am still learning how to work with the camera. The camera is of decent quality, but it wasn't designed for shots this close-up. I am hoping to invest in better equipment at some point in the future. The blurs double as an effect to focus on a particular character, but it detracts more from the environment than I would like.
2. A lot of that comes down to my direction of the voice actors. It's much easier to assume they can read your mind and intuit the proper emotion! I'll be sure to give them better notes in the future.
3. I'll need to improve the audio mixing and sound effects. As you pointed out, it can be difficult to capture atmosphere on this scale, but there are definitely ways I can improve perspective and immersion.
Thanks, enjoyed that!
wow awesome!
Honest review:
Overall it was great. Good story, good voice actors, and everything was in focus.
My only criticism is that the characters are not actually moving. It’s still frames going in out out of focus (blender is good for stuff like this btw). Other than that, I loved it. Happy new year and here’s to a great 2022!
That's a very fair criticism! I am definitely hoping to improve the movement, even if this is not full stop-motion.
Epic
Some people don't seem to understand that visual pleasure isn't the main focus here. This start of that promising series has its core in the storytelling. To maximize that, you have to decrease other stuff. I do the exact opposite, with having neat looking fight scenes that have no reason to happen or any value in terms of depth.
That being said, I really liked the style of this story. Lighting and Set design have some insane volumetric depth here. VFX and SFX are no less than that.
Instead of asking for more pictures, I'd like to ask for the same amount with more "efficiency". This is an introduction to so many characters at once, and with some of them looking quite similar, I'd prefer more close ups in the beginning or other methods to highlight the speaking person. The blurring was a nice method in some moments. Also, there were some camera angles that I liked more than others.
This is definitely nicely done. Perhaps, though, you could cut half of the text? To make the action more lively? And, thus, more engaging and entertaining?
I am sure what you have here would appeal to readers; but watchers? Hmm... I just don't think so.
Is the next episode finished?
The next episode is still in production! Some episodes will be more action-focused, but others will be more character-driven. The next episode at least should have better pacing and more engaging action sequences.
It was pretty good just the stop motion and it’s pretty confusing who’s talking
