- Since the rivals trailer for dragon ball sparking zero, fans have been speaking about the roster for the game. They been speculating on which characters will be dlc for the game. The sparking zero dlc talks are controversial in my opinion. Various conversations call for the removal of og dragon ball characters, dragon ball gt characters, and even dbz movie characters. The reason for the sparking zero dlc talks is due to the dragon ball sparking zero roster size being declared by the community without solid proof. They agreed that sparking zero roster is 164 character slots. However something that most engaging in the conversation should understand is that new is always better. A dlc character would be easy to sell if they can be considered new.

Alright. Let's break the roster down here.
164 characters. Assuming there aren't any other grids they're hiding, Sparking Zero will have 164 characters. BT3 had 161 characters.
From what we have confirmed, we can start to piece more of the roster together. Examples being SS Future Trunks from DBS confirming Goku Black, Broly confirms DBS Gogeta will appear, Kakunsa confirms Ribrianne/Rozie, etc.
To put it simply - if you add the important characters from DBS to the current roster, there's no room for most, if any movie/GT/OGDB characters on the roster.
If Bamco could make you pay extra to have *_Base Form Goku and Vegeta_* playable in FighterZ, they're sure as hell going to make you pay extra for GT and movie characters who made it into the previous game.

@@makaisaiyan If you're talking the amount of characters, I based that off of trailers and what we've seen up to this point since those clearly show 164 slots in a hexagonal grid and several new characters have already been confirmed. 164 is three more than 161, you then have to start removing characters from BT3 to make room for the newcomers. When you add characters that haven't been confirmed, but are either likely to appear (Rozie, Ribrianne, Basil, Lavender) or have been soft confirmed at this point (Goku Black with the new ruined city, Gogeta with DBS Broly) you no longer have room for GT or the movies on the base roster due to the newcomers eating up more space.

so speculation aside from seeing 164 spaces. when i said based off og what i meant how are you picking and despite opinions base goku and vegeta were new characters in fighterz because its a new series.
@@makaisaiyan I'm picking based off of what we've seen so far and how significant a character is to Z or Super's plot. Everyone is speculating about what the roster will be like, so I don't know what else to tell you there.
The "new characters" thing could've applied here if it were still 2007, but it isn't. Even if they still have assets from BT3, what can they reuse aside from audio? None of the character models from their previous games match SZ's art style, so these old models would stick out like a sore thumb. None of the animations would work on the new models due to different rigs, the animations we've seen are recreations akin to what RB did. Hell, even the audio they reused sticks out like a sore thumb.
This game is the first installment in the Tenkaichi series since Tenkaichi Tag Team, and the first console DBZ game Spike have developed since DBZ for Kinect. The new Vs old argument does not apply here given the amount of time it's been since Spike's last DBZ games and the amount of technical advancements since.
Then i simple give up.

I'm actually excited for DLC in Sparking Zero, it just means I can support a game I'll enjoy and get something new out of it.

Feels like you're responding to me. 164 is already very impressive for the base roster, can't really expect more. Assuming it's gonna be 164 characters, it's safe to assume OG, Movie and GT characters will be DLC. You're saying people don't wanna pay for old charcters. Plenty games does this. Also it's been 16-17 years since the last game so Sparking Zero is a special case. People will buy it. Some may complain a bit, but they will buy it. If they released DLC packages by arcs or movies, they can add both old characters and new characters in one package.
The case for Naruto Storm games is some characters never gets much needed updates. Some of they Konoha 12 are very dated. In Sparking Zero, they're gonna make each character from scratch. So this isn't a good comparison.
Trust this wasnt personal. As for 164 i just speak from an objective viewpoint and i cant state 164 until i am told from the official source. I cant think of any anime based game that has done this. Anime games have and will continue to give new characters to that particular series first. We have objectively seen sparking zero using old assets, granted sound assets. Basically all this video was, was told put a light as to how dlc tends to work for anime games and showing proof as to why dlc wont be cut og movie gt characters and resell.
@@makaisaiyan If it was, i've no issue with criticism. We're just talking about the game and what we think will happen. I do think 164 characters for the base game is more than generous. It's not impossible they'll add more on the base roster but i highly doubt it. Think they've showed 164 slots for a reason. I've seen no indication they're gonna have more than that so far. If they already showed OG, Movie and GT characters, then i could see it being on the table. I don't think there's been another anime game to get a sequel after 16-17 years. Sparking Zero is a bit of a special case, don't think you can really meassure it by other anime games. Fighting games in general has had classic characters saved for DLC.
well basically what i am saying is the bro science people have been using to claim characters are cut is way more looney than just expecting more than 164. until bandai comes out with an official number i dont assume characters are getting cut. as to if i would be surprised, that within itself is different.

I've been saying this for a long time we don't know for sure if it is 164 I think there's more than that cuz there's no way they're going to make us pay for all those characters
part of me wants them to do it so i can prove my point of how it is stupid, but no pattern has shown that this would happen.
So I got multiple things to say:
-I think people's argument on what Shonen Gamez said, is because he didn't specify that it was for characters in THE BASE ROSTER. GT and Daima will definitely be in, it's just a matter of when not if. However I feel like his wording more so meant the base roster. Only problem is you'd think Daima would be DLC because it's INCREDIBLY new.
-I honestly do think there won't be more than 164 characters. Main reason is because I can't count how many times, with all of the fighting games I follow, that whenever we saw an outline of the character select screen/roster box, all the times people thought there'd be more and there never was. And developers just never like to tell us the exact number because......reasons
-While I agree majority of the DLC should be focused on never playable characters in Sparking (Video game exclusives like #21, Daima, Heroes, DBS characters that didn't make it, etc. I think would be perfect IMO), I think it's a bit excessive to not have ANY returning characters be DLC. Movies and GT don't need EVERY character in the base roster, but like Cooler, Janemba, the SSJ4's, Baby, and Super 17 have been in since the FIRST Tenkaichi. They're more of staples than Future Gohan (Im really happy he is btw, just trying to prove a point) is who didn't come till the 3rd game. I can justify waiting for Turles, Bojack, and Nova (I love all three) but not Cooler, Janemba, and Baby in a 164 character roster. Ideally the returning characters that missed the cut, would be a free update.
the point to the video was to call out how everyone has these specifications to dlc with little evidence to suggest roster size and who could get cut, if they even cut anyone

@@Gfromda23 While in theory I agree, there are sadly a tons of times that fighting game sequels add and subtract characters, especially in modern times. 164 is just not enough to have all of BT3 and all these DBS characters. (Unless it was like.....just the main Saga antagonists and the new forms, which we know it's not). And I'd rather get stuff that we're taken out later, than not in this game at all, as annoying as it is

@@Gfromda23 My main desire is just for GT, Super Hero, and the non canon movies outside of Z Broly and Gogeta to be represented in the base roster. If we get them, I'm good. Especially since characters like FF Cooler, Janemba, Super 17, and Baby have been in Tenkaichi since the beginning
You can’t compare a 5 year gap of OPPW3 and OPPW4 to BT3 of 2007 and SZ which is 2024/2025. So they could very well resell characters that were in the previous game in this one

If we assume the base roster is 164 and the DLCs will only include new characters, many characters from the previous games won't return. Most likely, a lot of the original, GT, and movie characters won't make a comeback. On the other hand, if the roster is larger than 164, why did they show us 164 spots in the trailer instead of, for example, 200 spots?
no one is assuming. just that the game will have a bigger roster than 161 and it will include characters from the areas in which people grab dlc aka alleged cut characters

The big red flag to me was when DBZ kakarot didn’t get any movie/Gt content… if they fumbled on that golden opportunity it’s safe to say they will again
Storm Connections is another example, like Kurenai, who is possibly coming out next month (May).
kurenai was never playable though aside from storm 1 support right? the only example of old characters being sold as dlc is the sound four in storm 4 but my argument was examples of anime games cutting characters from the previous entry and reselling them as dlc.

It could have more than 164 characters because we have to keep in mind the 4 arrows around the slots. This could mean that there are extra slots behind each of them. I would like to see characters from each dragon ball series that have not been in a game before.

I definitely dont believe its only 164....i can see them SHOWING 164 characters that are more popular...and NOT including the lesser characters. Show all the favorites show all the newer characters...leave out the less popular characters so ppl THINK it's only 164 and docs. The game could drop with 200 characters and STILL have Dlc

When Tenkaichi 2 and 3 came out, it was essentially the same game with minor polish, new modes and new chars...each step at a full price. With that being said, I don't see how it's wrong to plan out DLCs for Sparking Zero and even more so, I wouldn't want any Super content being cut for the sake of including GT or OG.

Well it's true There is more DLC talks but it's because of the honeycomb. Haha yep you just said it as I typed it. But I do agree the honeycomb might be just a place holder.
Not only that we have no idea who is playable from day one of the game. What I mean soon as we boot up the game is everyone already available to play as?
Or do we have to play the game story, or use the dragon balls to wish for the the character(s) to be available. If that's the case maybe they don't reveal them to keep it hidden.
But I will say this Tekken 8 just literally re-sold us The last DLC Character from Tekken 7. Go checc out their latest trailer for Tekken I kid you not. So I'll never say never about Bandai doing that. But I would love to see all kinds of characters maps, etc we never had before.

what i am getting at is no anime game done this and people cant bring up an example. anime games sell based off the casual base and having the most recent relevant characters makes it easier to sell. note how game marketing started with super saiyan blue due to being the most recent transformation for anime watchers, including movies. bandai namco not just aiming for core fans of bt3 but newcomers. despite the huge player base of ps2 and wii, bt3 didnt sell more than 5 million copies. bandai going to prioritize getting more copies sold

Unfortunately, Sparkig Zero is a reboot and not a direct successor to BT3. How much money do you have to spend and how long do you have to wait until you can play the BT3 characters? I won't buy the game when it's released.

@@makaisaiyan Then why won't there be a DB-DBZ Movie and GT character if it's not a reboot? The Budokai Tenkaichi series has always had all the characters that exist, new ones were added with each part. Sparking Zero removes characters and brings them as DLC. The story mode will also be cut, so there will be no DB Saga, DBZ Saga, GT Saga or a what if saga. I think there will only be a short DBZ saga as a prologue and DBS will be the main story.

Personally I think this sucks. I may sound old but Xenoverse 2 is basically sparking zero just with no og characters. Hate to say it but, i might play xenoverse 2 more with Budokai Tenkaichi 3 on the side. Unless they're saving gt,og, and movies for dlc🤷

xv2 doesnt counter what was said. xv2 adds characters who werent playable in the series hence new characters. it gets absurd when you start making variations that do little to make a new character unique to another, example android 18 and the new android 18 dlc

I’m completely fine with not having GT characters, non canon movie characters, and characters from the horrendous and apocryphal Toyotaro manga version of Dragonball Super. In fact I prefer it to just be OG Dragonball, canon DBZ, anime DBS characters, and Dragonball Daima.

To be fair, GT doesn't have that much characters either, movies are meh and, let's be honest, NONE of you even watched the og DB. Let me break it down a bit:
1) For DB, most charcas are already on roster (Ten Shin Han, Yamcha, Roshi), were never on the Tenkaichi franchise (Kid Krillin for example) or simply were filler and no one will miss (to this day I defend that Kid ChiChi was totally useless, unnecesary and could have been kept out without anyone complaining. Nam and general Blue are also characters that no one will miss, altough Nam is, technically, like the first big opponent Goku had so you could make a case, but nah). Kid Goku, King Piccolo and Tao Pai Pai (not even cyber Tao tbf) and MAYBE android 8 are the only ones that are relevant and we will miss, and again, barely, because no one in the DB fandom even saw that series
2) Movies also doesn't have that much of a purpouse because, let's be fair, no one ever played with Garlick Jr., Slug or Wheelo. Bio Broly wasn't even in the first place, and I seriously think that Zangya was unnecesary and Bojack was enough. Still, it's a shame for Janemba, Cooler (and metal cooler) and Tapion (can't say the same for Hirudegarn), maybe Bojack and Turles? 13 no because, c'mon be honest, you who are reading this didn't even rememeber 13 before I mentioned him. Z Broly is probably the only one that will be 50/50 because, with Super Broly, I'm not really in need of Z Broly. Still, notice how all these characters I mentiones are the popular ones and came as DLC for FighterZ (Cooler, Z Broly, Janemba), so, they are clearly not forgotten.
3) GT would be a shame that wasn't included. Still, besides ssj4 Goku/Vegeta/Gogeta and 3 villains, there isn't much to add. Uub I guess, Pan can stay out of the roster, thanks, and Tenkaichi 3 didn't include Ice Shenron, not even as a skin for Nova Shenron. Still a shame if wasn't included
However, let's be honest here. If movies and og DB are NOT included in the game, we lose like 30 characters, but we will be missing like 8 of them at best. Of course more is better, but it's also true that I don't want a roster full of characters no one cares for (Fasha, Garlick Jr., Pan, Kid ChiChi)

@arisblack-jz6jh it hasnt been confirmed so i wouldnt even worry about it at this time. Whether those characters are all there or not. Its still a sequel.
