Superb work as always Alvin. I`ve never felt drawn to flying long haul with Air France, and little about this flight has changed that. I was impressed however with the catering, the main course aside of course! Disappointing service standards, but that has often been my experience with the French in general if you are an English speaker.

Steak rarely does on a plane. It's always a risky choice. Usually overcooked.
@@johniii8147 Agreed. The odds are better for steak if it's served soon after takeoff. In this case it was the only non-vegetarian choice. I'd say Air France dropped the ball on the catering, assuming that the other choices really weren't available.

Very nice video and thank you for sharing. AF's appetizers always have beautiful presentation!! I took AF a few years ago and the steak was also overcooked so I was not too surprised.
Next time, I'll be sure not to order the steak from the menu, haha.
Steak is always risky on a plane on almost any carrier. It's almost always overcooked. It's the nature of beef in the environment.
@@onemoreweektogo It really depends on the airline and flight attendants who handle to reheat process. You can check my EVA air video which I just uploaded. They did serve a very tender and tasty steak.

It's that time of the month again! I know I keep saying this but your videos keep getting better Alvin. I do have a few questions, how were you able to film in Dubai airport without getting in trouble and also would you ever consider making any more plane spotting content in the future?
Thank you!! :) I tried to be discrete about filming in Dubai airport, didn't seem to have any issues. I do intend to make more plane spotting content. I just have a backlog of trip reports to get through currently.

Thank you for this vlog. You do a beautiful job. I'm booking from BOS to BHX in Business and this review tells me that Air France is my choice. And I'm English. So that's a big deal. 500 years of hostility. And now all forgotten because of food and hard product.
Another quality trip report! Always look forward to seeing a new one. I've been through Dubai several times flying business class and if you want the luxury experience, you should probably fly Emirates. Their separate business class check-in terminal is the royal treatment and their lounges are very expansive with a wide variety of foods. But I assume you had your reasons for flying Air France. I flew them once and I remember that their meals were typical of good French cooking. A shame that #1, they forgot to serve you the main course and #2, the meal wasn't memorable. But I agree with your opinion of the service. Not the most friendliest and accommodating. It will be interesting to see how your Air France transatlantic trip turns out and your opinions are confirmed or differ. Save travels. Cheers 🥂
Thank you! I remember flying through Dubai with Emirates in 2016. A much more pleasant experience for sure. Will be flying Air France next week on my way back from Paris! Let's give it another shot!
AF is great and I will be flying them tomorrow in Business on their A350. Can't wait! I feel sorry for your main dish though and I hope your next experience will be better. As for your experience with the crew, I don't think that the fact that you didn't speak French had something to do. But I may be biased as I am a Frenchman, and every time I engage with them, they are always super nice and professional. Don't be shy, try a few words. Looking forward to your retun to Montreal. Will it be an A350 too?
I agree. I think it’s not so much the fact that you didn’t speak French but perhaps the fact that you didn’t say “bonjour“ as you entered the aircraft. From what I can tell based on some videos I’ve watched in preparation for a family trip to Paris during Christmas week 2022, it’s considered polite to do so when entering any French establishment like a restaurant or shop. Culturally, they’re considered extensions of people’s homes, and you wouldn’t walk into someone’s home without greeting your host(ess).

Nicely done. I haven't seen your trip reports in a while so it's good to be back watching them. On the Skyteam Lounge and your comments about the food being "decent" but not "overly exciting", I'm wondering if you've, perhaps, been spoilt too much in the past. It looked just fine to me for a business class lounge. I'd reserve those comments for much poorer lounges, such as Thai Airways at the domestic terminal in BKK and similar at international departures in Chiang Mai. As for the main dinner course, that is wholly unacceptable for a business class meal. It looks like it was heated from the night before . Personally, I'd have sent it back. Sorry about the criticism but just my POV. Looking forward to your next video.
Nice report well delivered Alvin on an airline that we'll never fly again after bad experiences. I'm sorry to mention this but the seat that you were in is not a window seat. A window seat is right next to a window. Yours was next to an aisle, so It's an aisle seat that you can see a window from. You wouldn't call seat "C" or seat "H" in economy class or "B" or "J" in Premium a window seat . Or maybe you would I would not fly any airline that flew that seat because I like to sit in a window seat. The food looked good apart from the cardboard steak.

I do wish that Air France hadn't gone with the herringbone business configuration. I much prefer the conventional business class configuration with the sliding privacy doors like Delta One and a few others have deployed. The angle of the herringbone configuration is somewhat awkward and the privacy doors make a world of difference on a long haul flight.
I was on a Air France 787 business class flight ftom Paris to N.Y 6 yrs ago--and my ONLY option for Dinner was Fish!!!!! kinda ruined my trip:)

Confused!?!?! At 4.04 you’re walking in the jetbridge for economy, yet you end up in busisness?
Well they didn’t connect the L1 door so there was only one jet bridge in. Just turn left instead of turning right :)

You are best off to check when ordering your steak whether it can/will be served medium. Then the flight staff are obliged to commit to serving it as such and if they dont there would be no problem to change the main course
No that's not really how it works with steak on a plane. It's almost always over cooked and not much the flight crew can do about it. Steak is almost always a bad choice on a plane. Also, they only have so many many meals stocked so there well be no other choice. He was already limited in his options since the other options were already gone.
@@johniii8147 That has always worked for me. There certainly have been cases where the steak was medium and cases where the staff have informed me it would not be medium.
Everything seemed to be very good until they forgot your main course. Even in economy, I'd not be happy if I was in the same situation.
It looks like a class product and that amenity kit is really tasteful. I want one! I’d fly Air France if it were part of a better alliance - Skyteam is rubbish. Sorry about your steak!!
that was terrible about them forgetting your main meal, especially it being in Business class. id be furious if it was me and got that bad service. you would think because of the last 2 1/2 years of covid when no one could fly, the flight attendants would be going out of their way to give people, whos finally flying... a fantastic experience. I wasnt too keen on the layout of business class - i could see there was no privacy, like ive seen in other airline business class reviews. lm put off travelling with Air France,

Why on God's good earth didn't you choose Emirates out of Dubai? You would've been treated like a King!! Emirates is the only way to go out of DXB if it suits your budget. Most other carriers are very sub-par and fade in comparison.

"Final Thoughts"- what you said about service - - and why you felt you got less graciousness - this is the *sole* reason I have-not flown Air France. Frankly - I'd spend a few more dollars or miles to use another carrier. I don't expect to be doted on or to have my shoes shined - but feeling like I'm being treated less than other pax - not my preference.

Terrible Business Seat layout design. Hate the herring bone design layout!!! Terrible terrible design!!! Only Singapore Business class is still the best business layout. Will not take this business seat! Unless it is free!!!
Interesting, while flying Air Canada the flight attendant forgot to bring the main course, I guess I was on my phone too much that even I hadn't notice until they gave me dessert 🥲
